Deal resubmitted. You can only see the deal at the checkout page and when you have something in your cart. This deal is linked to the checkout page.

1) From Iherb:

"Jan 2013- New discount for orders over $60.00!
UP to 95% off DHL published rates!

January 2013 - DHL Challenge: The shipping company DHL has offered us a new set of discounts for Australia. However, to continue to offer these low rates, we must double our volume of DHL Express shipments to select countries, including Australia. Please help us achieve our goal this month. Place all your orders at iHerb and let others in Australia know about the great values we offer!"

Previously was 92% off published rate. Select Country to ship as "Australia" and you will be able to see the cost of shipping.

2) In additional to the new discount rates, Old users (maybe non-vip or new users too.) of Iherb can get VIP discount at:
5% $0+, 6% $60+, 7% $70+, 8% $80+, 9% $90+, 10% $100+, 12% $200+, 14% $400+

You have to add something inside your cart to see these discount rates. Just tested out without logging into my account and it shows the discount rates which implies that non-vip or new users might also get to enjoy the discount rate mentioned above.

3) Lastly, only for first time iherb purchasers: Enter ANY Iherb referral code (or mine: HOY564) at the checkout page for additional US$10 off and order more than US$40 (order less than $40 gets US$5 off).

Bought 2 x dr bronner's magic soap 4L bottles for the missus. Plus some BCAA's for myself and some of that Biotin shampoo. Order was like 12kg and DHL express shipping was $17 dollars.

  • anything recommended to buy? say, equivalent to Centrum?

      • Love this multi, its one of the best on the market. But it MAY be a tiny bit cheaper from BB.com, it depends on how many you buy, how much shipping costs, and if you use a referral code at iHerb.

So, best to do your own cost comparison.

"Take 3 tablets twice per day with meals. Take this product daily. Consume at least 1 gallon of water per day."

uhhh sounds like I would regret it

    • This one is highly recommended and a very high quality and pure supplement with activated B Vitamins and Citrate form Minerals http://www.iherb.com/Thorne-Research-Citrate-Formula-Basic-N…

The controlled labs also looks good and is a good price for Chelated form.

  • I have been using iherb for years and made a lot of orders but I used DHL once and will never use it again when buying vitamins or things that can go to quarantine.

DHL sends an invoice for quarantine processing fee RANDOMLY and I was one of the lucky people who had to pay something like $46.

Heard some people dont pay and tried to challenge DHL.

I paid as I dont feel like having any trouble in the future when I have to use DHL for other things.

    • They would be using DHL global mail , no additional fees involved as they use other cariers

  • iHerb offers DHL Express- International and Global Mail by DHL

DHL global mail should be fine but it was the express one that I got an invoice.

There is a message on iherb checkout page

Hmmm my comments seemed to have disappeared.
Anyway I did not think it was a great deal.
Seems flakey the promises of up to 95% off shipping.
Some of the deals are for VIPs only

DHL sometimes charges people for quarantine.

    • Wouldn't it be for those dmaa products, or just any supplement in general?

I've never been charged for quarantine.

    • The 95% off shipping rate is real. Make a shipment quote for a 10kg parcel here: http://dct.dhl.com/input.jsp?langId=en&originCCId=AU&disable…

and compare with iherb's 10kg shipping rate. it's close to what it's quoted.

Looks like non-vip/new iherb users are able to get VIP discount rates too. I did try by loggin out and add random items to my shopping cart.

As for the incurred quarantine fee, I've never encountered that before. Why would they release the parcel when it hasn't been paid?

    • It may sound flakey, but iHerb is able to provide very good discounts on postage and freight, and i believe the DHL discount is only offered twice a year, making it a very low cost way to buy heavier items that are not able to be posted.

As for Quarantine charges, I have never paid quarantine, this maybe if you buy banned products.

That was not the case with me when I bought from iherb using DHL and was subsequently invoiced for a Quarantine Processing Fee ($47), which I did not pay BTW.
Not everyone is hit with the fee, but I'm not prepared to chance it so have not used DHL when ordering from iherb since. Iherb are well aware of our quarantine restrictions anyway and do not allow us to order banned stuff.

        • mmm ok , interesting

        • Just to be clear. That was before iherb introduced DHL global mail, which is delivered by Auspost once it arrives in Australia and not DHL. DHL global mail, which is also free for orders over a certain amount ($40 in my case) has been problem free with me so far. Other DHL services, where DHL delivers to one's door, are best avoided though if one wants to eliminate the risk of additional fees.

        • When did DHL Global mail start? I got hit by the quarantine fees last year. But its not really DHL. The problem with couriers is they are more prone to checks by AQIS and if the AQIS is not sure about a product, they spend more time doing research / trying to find out about the product. When this happens you get charged a fee for the service…Its really a money making scheme for australian customs.

        • Can't remember exactly. My iherb account which goes back to 1/09 shows Global Mail by DHL for shipping on all except the global express shipment on which I incurred the $47 fee. I'm pretty sure however that Global mail has not been around that long, maybe a year I'd say.

Anyway, I've had plenty of iherb shipments delivered by Australia post over the years that were opened for inspection by customs and not one of them incurred additional fees. The quarantine inspection fee that DHL imposes does not appear to be paid to customs. It appears to be a charge that they choose to impose when a shipment is inspected by customs.

  • Definitely a saving. I had stuff in my cart but didn't check out cause something I wanted wasn't in stock. Shipping cost would have been $17. Checked just now and shipping for same cart was a bit over $8 which is fantastic. Can't get much shipped for that price from anywhere - even (especially!) locally.

Your celebration may be premature. If DHL is to impose the additional $47 fee, they'll be invoicing you separately about 3 weeks after the package is delivered.
I order on average twice a month from iherb and haven't had a iherb shipment opened for inspection by customs for over a year, so on that basis the odds are in your favour.

      • .

      • I have had numerous packages opened by customs and never received a fee. If they tried it would be like getting blood from a stone.

        • That's because your packages were delivered by Australia post (to your door - as is the case with Global Priority). I've also had many packages that were opened without a fee being charged. The problem is with DHL deliveries to your door, ie Global Express.

For the benefit of those who cannot see my comments that have been hidden above, my orders this past year have been via Global Priority (DHL) which is delivered by Australia post after it arrives in Australia and does not appear to incur additional fees. DHL Express on the other hand may incur an additional ($47) fee - it's stated right in front of you when you do the order. To quote: " ..there may be extra delays and expenses due to customs."

The quarantine inspection fee, as mentioned above, does not appear to be paid to customs though, but is imposed by DHL when your package is subject to a customs inspection. I make this claim having incurred the fee, and after reading posts on Whirlpool by those who have been charged the fee and have made demands on DHL to produce the paperwork from customs. Even if it was paid to customs, I am still not happy about paying an additional $47 and I'll be avoiding DHL Express as long as there is a risk of it being imposed. Good luck to those that take that chance.

    • Thanks for posting this information,i was just about to make my purchase with iHerb using DHL express but i've now sent DHL an email asking what guarantee can i get that i won't be charged such a fee,see what they say.

Just received a response from DHL ''Iherb’s contract with DHL Express advises that any Quarantine Inspection charges – are billed to Iherb- not the receiver.''
