  • New to fishing here so not sure if I want to invest in any expensive at the moment. How are these kits for beginners?

Ehich kit would I get for jetty/wharf fishing and maybe some estuary fishing. Thanks

For the price this is a good starting point. I would suggest the medium estuary or snapper combo depending on target fish in your area. the snapper rod is a bit longer for casting off a jetty and also able to handle a heavier weight. Medium estuary is slightly lighter and shorter, more suited to smaller fish where a sensitive bite might get missed on a snapper rod. So choose based on which one you'll fish more often and what fish you're going to catch.

If you're new to fishing choose a spin combo

  • One for the OzB Fishos is the other BCF combo a better bet? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/900043 No accessories but better quality(?)

I'd go with shimano (your link) any day of the week personally. That or daiwa are good starting choices with great warranties. Yes it doesn't come with pre-spooled line but personally i think that's a good thing as i'd rather get a different branded/weighted braid aswell (or mono depending on what you're fishing). lures are cheap as chips on aliexpress and not something i'd consider when purchasing a rod/reel.

Braid is roughly $30 and if purchased at bcf they also offer free spooling.
If you're looking for a braid suggestion - daiwa x8 j-braid is a good starting point

      • @Digiiz thanking for taking the time to reply! That makes sense.

  • Reviews look awful for this one :(
