CommBank Low Rate Credit Card ($6 Monthly Fee): $75 Monthly Cashback for 6 Months with $500 Monthly Spend

370

New CBA credit card deal. Earn $75 each month when you spend $500 or more per month for the first 6 months on a new Low Rate credit card. Ongoing eligibility, exclusions and offer Ts&Cs apply.

Customers who have held a Low Rate or Low Fee card as a primary cardholder in the last 18 months are not eligible for a cashback. It's not a typical 12 months, so be careful when applying.

Also, there is an option with a Low-Fee credit card, but the cashback is only $240 over six months.

  • Not getting the Cashback from the previous offer even though I am spending $500 and it's been three months already, am I missing something?

    • +44

      Yes, you're missing the cashback.

      • 🤣

    • If you signed up for the previous offer before december last year. You would be credited the full amount of the cashback (400$) within 90 days of the last month.

  • Anyone know how long the cashback typically comes through for this offer? The T&Cs state up to 90 days, however am wondering if they come a bit earlier.

I have the low-fee cashback being credited approximately 2 weeks after I pay my last statement.

  • Minus the $6 monthly fee your really only getting $69…

    • +4

      I don't mind getting a 69…..dollar discount off a Switch 2.

      • Nice..

    • Min spend should be $420

    • should mention monthly fee could be waived if you are a yello gold member? its not mentioned as a perk in yello but i've held this for 3+ months now and haven't been charged a monthly fee yet.
Also first $75 cashback received exactly 21 days after the end of second statement period, and from there on 21 days after end of each statement period.

I'm running the card from Jan 16th ish and have done $500 (or more) per month and havent received anything yet, i think they said it could take upto 90 days but yeah its really slow…

  • Its the delayed reward that commbank hopes will create a habit of using the credit card long term. Obviously no-one here would do such a thing.

  • Would this be OK for my Japan / Korea trip coming up?

      Trade-offs

      • International transaction fees apply

Probably not so good for overseas travel spending.

      • Thanks! Will keep looking.

  • so is this $69 * 6? $414 cashback all up?

    • Maybe.

$75 cashback will be awarded for every month (statement period) $500 or more is spent on eligible purchases for 6 consecutive statement periods. Maximum cashback available is $450. The first eligible spend period will commence from the day your account is opened, up to the end of your second statement period. After this date, the offer spend requirements will align to each statement period that follows until exhausted. Transactions must be fully processed and any pending transactions at the end of the statement period will not count towards the spend criteria. Cash advances and refunds (including CommBank Yello cashback offers) are not included as eligible transactions.

The first eligible spend period actually encompasses both the first and second card statements. And you will be charged a monthly fee for the first statement, no matter how short it is (it could even be less than a fortnight).

You can try to politely request a refund of the first monthly fee, and they may do so with a warning about it being a one-off goodwill gesture that they will not repeat again.

Cashback will be credited within 90 days of each eligible statement period where the spend criteria has been met and will appear on your statement as ‘CASHBACK’. You will be ineligible for the cashback if your account is closed, switched to another card or in default at any time prior to the cashback being credited to your account.

Your final cashback could arrive up to 90 days after completing the final spend, although in practice it should be less than that.

I recently completed a similar Low Rate promo offer and the cashback arrived less than 30 days after the end of the final spend period.

  • Do I need to keep the card open for, say 8 or 9 months? (To wait to receive the 6th month cashback?)

  • I had Commbank Awards Credit Card which I cancelled last year, am I eligible to receive the cashback, Their terms says: "Offer commenced 1 March 2025 and is only available on new Low Rate credit cards applied for. Offer not available to customers who currently hold, or have held, any activated Low Rate or Low Fee card types in the 18 months prior as a primary cardholder or customers who switch from other card types." Can anyone clarify please? Thanks

  • When will I receive my cashback?
Cashback is awarded up to 90 days after each statement period ends.

  • Getting close to 60 days since my first statement and no cashback. Think it may actually be pretty close to the 90 days per payout :(

    • First $75 came through last week - looks like it’s about a little over 60ish days.

      • Is it $500 spend per statement period, or per calendar month?

        • Per statement period.

          • @stripe: So you'd need to hold this card for close to 7 or so months to receive the last of the credits? So roughly $450 minus $42 in fees?

            • @sghetti: Yes. Quite a long term commitment for this one..

  • new to churning and i have already claimed the 100 * 4 cashback from my low rate q1 of this year - can I just simply cancel my card so i can move to the next one i want to churn?

    • Best to double check the T&Cs but usually providers have a certain time frame for obtaining the bonus again.

From memory, this one has either 12 or 18 months from closing another CBA low rate card. Should be able to check the T&Cs or contact support to double check.

      • Cheers mate will have a look

  • Looks like payments to government are eligible? The T&Cs only mentioned cash advance and refund transactions are not eligible.

  • Are council payments counted towards the spend requirements ($500 or more)?

    • +1

Yep, I paid a gas bill last month via CC and it met the $500 spend requirement.

      • Utilities payment is not for government

        • Looks like council payment (rates notice) payments are eligible then?

  • I have started receiving the CBs monthly now.

    Opened: 12/4/2025
    1st CB: 4/7/2025
    2nd CB: 7/8/2025
