  • want to move to Powershop , can anyone advise if you were previously with powershop and were denied the 150$ credit as you already go it. On their website it says
"the market contract must be your first electricity market contract with Powershop for the premises you switch" - so may be only once per address. Can someone please confirm ?

Received it on an existing account at same premises.

      • can you please confirm the wait between them ?

        • No delay. Saw the credit when I logged in again after I switched.

          • @76F: Thanks , sorry what I meant was after moving from power shop how much time did you wait to get back to them

The $200 January card should be rolling in soon. I signed up for an electricity deal on Jan 16, so I'm about to hit the 90 day mark. This will be about my 10th card with them. I've always received them pretty much right on the 90th day mark. I also got a $20 card off them a couple of months ago when they asked if I'd leave a review on Google for them. You might want to ask them if they are still doing that…

    • Have you received it? I signed up around the same time but have not seen anything come through.

      • I have not received it yet. I contacted them about it and received a bewildering response.

"Thank you for choosing Econnex Comparison.

Upon reviewing your inquiry, we found that your electricity switchover request with Powershop under Reference ID xxxxxxxxx was submitted through the standard Econnex Comparison website — without being linked to any promotional campaign or offer.

If you signed up under a different promotional offer where you were expecting benefits worth $200, kindly share the campaign name or the promotional details used at the time of sign-up so we can investigate this further.

Please reply to this email with the requested information, and we’ll be happy to assist you."

What does that even mean??? I signed up using the link here on Ozbargain and then made sure to click on their link on the website that directly linked to the January promotion. I've done this multiple times with Econnex in the past, and received the Mastercard a bunch of times, but for some reason this time there's an issue?

I contacted them and explained everything, and then received this response.

"We appreciate you reaching out and providing the attachments for the promotional offer that you signed up with.

Your concern has been escalated and is currently being investigated. We will get back to you with an update as soon as possible.

If you have any urgent questions, feel free to reply to this email or call us at 027 238 9112—we’ll be happy to assist.

Absolutely p*ssed at the moment as I feel like I'm being fobbed off. Tried calling them on the above number and was put on hold for about 20 mins before the call automatically cuts out.

Tried contacting the "rep" "Manyo" on here and have had no response.

It looks like this will be the last time I ever use these guys unless they sort this out ASAP.

        • I called them and got through to someone quickly who advised that the gift cards should be sent 90-120 days from sign up. I've created a reminder to check that in a few weeks time…

          • @rictee: It's now been 105 days since I signed up on January 16.

The rep on here got back to me and escalated my inquiry.

I eventually received a response from Econnex saying….

"After a thorough investigation, we confirm that your Electricity application (reference number xxxxxx) was received through OZbargain promotional offer but not under Econnex Comparison.

As a goodwill gesture, we are pleased to upgrade your application to the OZbargain Campaign promotional offer, making you eligible for the reward benefit.

We will include your name in the list of eligible customers for the gift card this month, and you can anticipate receiving it between 1st and 15th of May 2025."

I still don't understand what I did wrong and why a goodwill gesture was needed to give me the Mastercard (which I've still yet to receive). I signed up directly from the link on this website as I've always done in the past, but apparently there was some issue this time.

            • @jimbler: I got a similar response and the same timeframe for the giftcards. Have you received your giftcard?

              • @sdkfjhwef: Nope. I called them yesterday and was told some story which is probably BS. I pretty much tuned out, but it went something along the lines of there is an issue with the computer systems at Karta. Because their computer system wasn't working they weren't able to send an accurate invoice to Econnex for the gift cards, so Econnex were waiting for them to get it fixed because they couldn't pay for the bill until they knew the correct amount for the gift cards. Told me to just wait a couple of days and it would be sorted out. Sounded like absolute nonsense…

  • So just to confirm, it's based on when you apply for the energy plan, not when the energy plan begins? I've just signed up to start with Power Shop from 28 April which is settlement date.

  • PSA for those on FTTP and wanting to churn your nbn:
If it's not already obvious, this will SWITCH your provider.
Even if you have 3 free FTTP slots, signing up with Econnex will replace the active nbn.

    Timeline:
I signed up on Econnex at 13:17.
Activation email from Swoop came in at 18:14.
I was expecting Swoop to take up my free slot #1, but it actually replaced my active Leaptel on slot #2.
Expect 5-10 minutes downtime for the changeover.
    I lost 2 days 🥲

  • Can I double dip using cashback website?

  • Which NBN plans are qualified for the $100 prepaid mastercard though?

    • Theres multiple plans available from several providers (ABB, superloop, swoop, optus, dodo). Click on the link, put address in and it will show you.

Has Energy Australia's $200 sign up credit offer ended ? Can't see it in the Econnex compare results or Energy Australia website.
I remember noticing it last week.

    • +1

Yes, seems to be over. I saw it earlier as well but not anymore.

  • My 45 days from last deal/connection isn't up until Sunday - too risky to do it now? What's the likelihood of them connecting me before next Monday?
