received the November one last week, just shy of the 120 days.

    • +1

Same. Annoying wait, but I'd still do it again for a free $300

      • +1

does those hurt your credit score? I remember for opening account they do credit enquiry

        minor impact but still, impact?

        • It depends which supplier you go with. Some do, others don't.

      • It says 45 days though.

        • +4

Was 30d retention for November Deal
          Changed recently to 45d

Usually been 90d wait after connection for MC for electricity.

PM Econnex Rep Manyo if doesn't turn up.
Include reference number from the sign up confirmation email Econnex sent.
Thats what I did last week & received $200 MC in days.

  • Is the latest date 21st of Apr?

I have some credit from Powershop. I want to use up my credit.

    • they should pay u out

      • They don't

        • they did for me

          • -1

@wisb0: I was talking about the promo credits (150+50) on signup

            • @Alpha-q: yes they did my remaining credit

              • @wisb0: Thats sad,they didn't do for mine 🥹

                • +1

@Alpha-q: i wonder, if you buy the future packs using credit than they might be forced to pay out, if leaving early

          • @wisb0: Was that you referral credit earned by referring someone. I have referral credit so it would be great if anyone can confirm it would be paid out.

            • @dealsgrabber: no signup, you could always ask support.

Maybe they paid out my remaining signup because i had some money from the energy rebate too

  • damn signed up last week for $250

  • +2

Great churn option to get me out of EnergyAustralia’s ridiculous rates now than my cash back has tracked and credit spent. Thanks for posting.

    • Is that from the previous deal? Did you confirm with anyone it tracked or is it just past the 45 days and you're moving on?

My 45 days are up in about 5 days from the last offer

      • +1

I had cash back on CashRewards which has tracked but not yet been approved. I have been with EA for about 50 days now. I’m risking the cash back not approving, but the rates at EA are frankly untenable.

  • +10

Make sure you compare the rates of the providers they offer with Energy Made Easy, as they make money by substantially mark up the usage rates.

    • Didn't know about this site. Thanks for sharing

    • +7

Its a Deal suited to energy churners.

If you're churning, a slightly higher tariff for 45d is more than compensated (nice profit) by incentives to switch.
Been doing that for years. Haven't paid for any electricity.

    • +1

EcoConnex also don't compare all providers and even within a particular provider don't offer up all plans.

Also, if you're in Vic you can use Victorian Energy Compare

  • +1

I joined Powershop for their gift card promo 2 months back and won't receive the card until mid may which is the 120 day timeframe. If I change now (after staying the required 45 days or so) will I still be eligible for the original card? I didn't want to change providers for another gift card if it forfeits the existing one.

  • +1

Yes so long as you met the requirements (45 days) they’ll still send you the card but sometimes you need to chase it up when you leave before they are issued. From personal experience those offers are usually run externally so it shouldn’t be an issue.

    • +1

So in reality you can leave after 45 days and still get the giftcards?

      • +2

Yes, I usually try to stay for 60 days but so long as you have a full 45 days connected with them you have met the terms and are good to go.

        • But have you left before the 180 days and got the giftcard?

          • @nightelves: What 180d??

Just received $200 MC from November Deal.
Had 30d retention period to qualify.
~90d to receive MC after switch confirmed.

Stayed with each retailer about 2 months - until signup credit was used up. Received refund of Cost of Living rebate.

          • @nightelves: Yes I have, but the terms were stay connected for 45 days at the time (early last year) I got the cards a couple of months later.
I think the current offer also has 45 day terms so you should be fine just stay for 2x monthly electricity and one bi-monthly gas and you’ll be more than safe.

        • So its 45 days from connection (not sign up)?

Gift card is then also 120 days from connection (not sign up)?

          • @darkly: Yes that’s generally how it works although when you go through CR/SB they tend to go from sign up date regardless of when it’s connected.
But I’d bank on econnex going from the date of connection in this case.

  • +2

Sign up 1 Dec get the card around 2 Apr

  • +2

energy Australia gives you $200 for electricity

    • +2

But their rates are horrible so make sure you are ready to leave as soon as the credit runs out or you’ll be in for a shock when that first unsubsidised bill arrives.

    • Been with EA for same $200 bonus deal when i signed up directly. I wonder If I join back again through Econnex, would I get another $200 credit?

      • If your partner signs up instead of you then yes, or if you leave then go back

    • For Victorians, yes. Other states (e.g. ACT), no

  • +3

Receved my prepaid card last week for the last one (I think from Oct/Noc).. took a while but it came.. looks like time to redo it again :)

  • -1

I signed up Powershop via Econnex under previous promotion on 20 Jan. Still have not received bonus from Econnex

    • +1

Normally takes about 4 months from connection when direct with econnex, can be quicker when you go through CashRewards though and ShopBack is usually the same as going direct (120 days / 4 months)

    • +1

Then you would get the gift card around May 20th.

  • Still waiting on mine from 6 months ago?

    • Probably time to shoot them an email then and chase it up or DM their OzB rep

    • +1

What did Econnex say when you complained?

PM Econnex Rep Manyo if doesn't turn up.
Include reference number from the sign up confirmation email Econnex sent.
Did that last week & received $200 MC in days.

  • :D

  • They are frauds, I moved to Poweshop via them in Dec, waited for the gift card to arrive. Contacted their customer care today and the guy said my sign up did not appear to linked to any offer.

    • +1

I got told the same when they called me back to update me on the offers they had and I told them I had already signed this offer, they said let me check, and the guy is like you didn't use the correct link to sign up, oh well

      • Same case, all I did was clicked on the link via ozbargain, had not even heard about them before it and the guy was being a smart ass, saying may be to do with your browser cache. on top Poweshop feed in rate is just 1.4Cents my previous was ~7Cent. Lost few hundreds in the process, time to move to better provider but not via Econnex.

        • +1

just their wording - may receive digital card

          shows their intention

likely 50% or less receive these

  • I switched to Engie through this back in January but still haven’t got the gift card. Have used up all my electricity credit but still have gas credit left. They also said they’re planning to upgrade my meter to a smart meter in May. If I switch now, will that cancel the upgrade? And would it be better to switch again now or wait?

    • +2

yes it will be cancelled, happened to me when I switched
I am glad it got cancelled, too many news of higher bills with smart meter than a single tariff one, peak rates when people are home, peak rates when you need to turn on ac or heater
Unless you are smarter than them you will lose.

      • You got me checking the news to confirm those cases, appreciate the heads-up!

  • Can anyone advise, are these connections fees incurred when churning?

    Network Area

    Evo Energy(ACT Only)

    Remote Connection Fee

$108.30 Incl GST (Applicable when Move-In)

    Remote Disconnection Fee

$108.30 Incl GST (Applicable when Move-Out)

    Site Access Connection Fee

$108.30 Incl GST (Applicable when Move-In)

    Site Access Disconnection Fee

$108.30 Incl GST (Applicable when Move-Out)

    • +1

no, as you are not connecting/disconnecting I.e. turning off/on

but only switching providers who will bill you as per their rates

  • 45 days of usage recorded on energy aus app since I last switched with econnex, how many more days to leave it to be safe?

  • Can you get cashback from TopCashBack on top of these?

    • "Offers are only available when the switch is initiated through the promotional link on this deal."

  • Does Engie pays out credit balance ?

    • They should, I submitted a refund request form by their website before doing the switch. They confirmed they were refunding my credit balance the next day.

You should be able to just switch and get the refund afterwards, but I wanted to be sure as I was nearly $400 in credit.

  • +1

Are these on top of the energy provider’s credit ? I.e powershop has a one off $150 for elec + $50 for gas. + econnex $300 mc gc. Is that correct?

    • +1

      Yes that's correct.

      • +1

Assume this does not stack with shopback.

        • +3

Correct, shopback is a different Econnex offer.

          So you can get
          Retailer credit and
Referral credit Or shopback econnex cashback or econnex gift card

  • Is the switch provider a new nintendo console?

  • +3

If you're looking at switching internet, keep in mind that Superloop 1) Requires 30 days notice by phone, and 2) does not do prorata refunds. 3) the t&c say that if you submit a cancellation during the first 45 days, it will void the offer.

So realistically, if you go with them you are paying for 3 months. Still a deal, but not a freebie

    • Sorry, I’m new to this. It’s been a while since I last switched my internet provider. Switching internet seems to involve a lot of work, including canceling your current ISP contract and arranging a new connection date that aligns with your cancellation date. What about your internet account? I understand that you’ll need to set up a new account with your new ISP. Do you have to manually update all the information for the new connection?

  • Any feedback on Swoop nbn and connecting them via Econnex? Keen to try them out with this deal.

    • +1

Same. interested to know others feedback….as per deal it seems min stay for 2 months and can churn again.

    • +1

Used Swoop from Jan - March. Didn't experience issues with them and they do pro-rata refund for cancellations which was a plus!

      • Good to know. Thanks

  • Can I double dip and earn 20,000 (90 AUD) Virgin Money Points if I sign up to OVO Energy ?

    • Only the requirement is: "Offers are only available when the switch is initiated through the promotional link on this deal."

  • I am with powershop, any other suggestion for the provider?

  • Just signed up with OVO via econnex, and the new contract i got showing a higher rate that what Econnex showed. Now i have to shoot an email to customer support request a review :/

    • How much is the difference?

    • if Econnex isn't able to find what setup you have , it shows single rate by default. The rates actually change based on the type of setup you have. I am with OVO now and the supply charge shows as 96.8c/day but that is for Single rate . I have single rate+ CL1 and the supply charge for that is 102.3 c/day and the other charges also differ. But if this isn't the case and you already have a screenshot then you should send econnex rep a DM

  • -1

    CREDIT CHECK ALERT
"I understand that OVO Energy need to perform a credit check before my transfer can take place. OVO Energy will email me if I don't meet their credit requirements."

    Similar for AGL.

    • Powershop trigger a credit check as well.

      • Did it hurt your credit score?

      • I joined Powershop around 6 months ago and then left, and there were no trace on my credit report.

This time signed up to this deal, so far they have not even collected passport or driver license etc. How could they do credit check in this case?

        • Signed up to AGL and energy Australia through these deals and credit checks for both.
Will do power shop if they won’t do a credit check

I’ve also had credit checks for OVO as well

          • @Brick50: Hmmm…I signed up to AGL around 1 year ago, and there is no trace on my credit report from them either.

I guess companies are updating their process. Let's see how Pwoershop proceed this around.

    • [Update] Reply from OVO if credit score will be affected: "Only if there is multiple checks from OVO"

Not sure why they need to run multiple checks!

      • +1

Ovo does not calculate your credit score. Only each credit bureau knows the algorithm for how the scores are calculated. Ovo is in no position to comment on whether your score will be affected.

The above aside, I regularly churn electricity and gas and have many, many credit enquiries from utility companies. My scores are in the top tiers.

  • Is there a lock in contract when you sign up through Econnex?

    • Depends on the energy company. Some of them are no lock-in contract and some may have.

  • -1

Any know which energy provider doesn't do credit checks?
    Any cooling off period?
If I churn, I have a feeling my current energy provider will probably provide retention credits 😀
    Thank in advance.

    • +1

avoid powershop, energy australia if you don't want credit check

  • -5

Site access connection/disconnection fees are ridiculous on most plans. $222 disconnection fee is a rip off!

    • how so? aren't they the same for most as they are all passed on

      • -2

Idk, happy to provide screenshots for the neggers, but multiple companies show a $22 2 disconnection fee!

        • mate that cost is passed onto your electricity distributor. your neg has nothing to do with this deal.

  • Does anyone know if the 12 months wait period for engie sign up credits is from the start of the contract or when you’ve left them?

  • Anyone has any suggestions which provider next after powershop? I was with energyaustralia before powershop which I guess void their $200 credit promotion.

    Thanks in advance!

    • Ya similar as you. I was thinking of going back to EA but high risk that another $200 might not come from them. So leaning to Alinta energy, they don't have upfront credit bur rates are way better in my case..

    • is EA only one $200 credit per 12 months?

      • EA T&C says one time only (need to dig exact wording)…So I prefer not taking chance as regardless the name I have account under, address will be same…

  • want to move to Powershop , can anyone advise if you were previously with powershop and were denied the 150$ credit as you already go it. On their website it says
"the market contract must be your first electricity market contract with Powershop for the premises you switch" - so may be only once per address. Can someone please confirm ?
