nbn 25/10 $50.90/Month, Opticomm 25/10 $53.90/Month Ongoing ($0 Static IP on Request) @ IT'S FUBAR

Did you miss us? We're back again to spread more low cost broadband goodness from October 1 :)

Due to the deployment of some new equipment into our Sydney and Melbourne POP, alongside some negotiations with our payment gateway providers, we're back with an updated deal on our low speed NBN plan which has been very popular with the OzBargain community. These are particularly appealing to users with low internet demands, yet are still very capable of running all your typical streaming services without buffering if you're only watching on a single device.

While a few of our competitors are offering 25mbps services around the ~$50 p/m mark, most of them are for a limited period (e.g. 3-6 months), which sets us apart. No need for the calendar reminder to move away from your current provider only to lose all your savings when you accidentally roll past the promotional period 🥲.

IMPORTANT: Our Opticomm plans will remain at $53.90 for the time being due to a difference in wholesale costs. Apologies to those of you in an Opticomm area but $53.90 is still a great ongoing price.

Plan Price
NBN 25/10 $50.90 ongoing
Opticomm 25/10 $53.90 ongoing

Our 25mbit plans are $50.90/$53.90 p/m ongoing until our next wholesale price changes (which is typically at the start of each financial year).

We also offer a static IP address on our services on request at no extra charge - you'll just need to confirm with us how you plan to use it as we had an influx of customers requesting a static address without knowing what it is.

Services are pre-paid month-to-month. Complete our sign up form, we'll process your order and send you a pro-rated invoice and activate your service same day Monday to Friday. We're a small family owned business down in Geelong aiming to provide kickass, on-shore customer service.

We can also offer a Netcomm NF18MESH preconfigured modem shipped to your door for $99 with our plans. Just let us know you need a modem in your order form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a modem/router that was provided by XYZ provider?
Typically, yes. Most models provided by Optus, Telstra, Belong, Vodafone, Aussie Broadband etc can be used with our services without issue, unless you require a home phone service - as in many cases SIP settings are locked down and cannot be tweaked. You may need to tweak some settings.

Will I need to change settings on my modem/router to get online?
We use IPoE/DHCP for our NBN services which is often referred to as "auto configuration". Opticomm is via IPoE/DHCP in almost all areas, but some estates require PPPoE manual configuration. We will advise you if this is the case. As long as you're coming over from another provider using IPoE/DHCP, you won't need to touch a thing. Common carriers who don't need reconfiguration include: Telstra, Aussie Broadband, Belong, Optus, Superloop, and some Vodafone services.

How quickly can you get me online?
Typically, same day Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm AEST unless there's an issue with connecting your address. Once you apply with us, we sanity check your order and approve it. You are then issued a pro-rated invoice by our system. Once this invoice is paid, our provisioning systems will kick off your NBN order within the hour. We're a pre-paid service - so it's important you pay your invoice as soon as it comes in if you're expecting to get connected quickly. We can now also typically get Opticomm services connected same day.

Can I schedule a connection in the future?
Yes, our order forms contain a box where you can request your preferred activation date.

How do I go about moving over with a Home Phone?
First, confirm you have an unlocked modem and are capable of adjusting the SIP settings on your device. If so, sign up for our NBN/Opticomm plan and specify that you have a home phone service. It's important to note we need to take over the home phone service before we activate your internet as this is the safest way to guarantee you do not lose your number. Porting can sometimes take up to 2 weeks to complete, so we suggest giving plenty of notice to us. Once your port date is locked in and the number is in our control, we will move your NBN service over to us.

What if I'm already a customer paying $53.90 for NBN?
Don't stress. We're dropping our prices back down for existing customers too!

  • Have been with them a few months, no issues.

Same for 8 months, totally recommended. Great connection, never an issue… ever! Good, nice and friendly customer support.

The only "drawback" i could say I've had is that sometimes, when going to a website like Kmart, it would automatically detect my location as somewhere in Sydney or Canberra, and I'm in Melbourne, but that is just because I have location shared disabled by default on my browser.

DM me and I can take a look into this if you share your customer info. You might be on an IP address with incorrect GeoIP data applied - this will depend on if you're on one of our addresses or one of our rented ones which can be a bit finicky sometimes.

      • Same for me. I did have some initial issues with the billing system not liking my credit card for some reason, but fubarnator was on the phone to me almost as soon as I had logged the ticket and got it sorted out. Great customer service. Also very pleased to have an unexpected have a price drop on my monthly fee too 👍🏻

      • I get that as well, also with woolies…no real biggie - other sites detect my location properly.

Been with fubar since last year, no real issues

  • Why is this plan $53 more than super loop?

I’m using and paying $79.99 for this speed with arc tel

We don't have a squillion dollars of venture capital backing like large ISPs which allow them to discount plans like the 1000/100 down far below what can be considered reasonable when the last mile connection to your premises is $73.93 ex GST with no backhaul, transit, payment gateway costs etc. We're a husband/wife team - we compete where we can which is the low speed market. Our higher speed plans are typically used by our business customers :)

      • husband/wife team

oh wow, just you two? if you don't mind, what's the ballpark of how much you guys invested to initiate your own telco?

  • Not ongoing, but this is $46/month for 6 months for 25/10.
Combine with this for $55/month for 6 months for 50/20 and swap when they expire.

But of course, this requires a bit more effort to take advantage of. If you're fine with 25/10 and don't want the hassle of churning, this is probably fine.

We will never compete with the promo market or be the absolute lowest cost provider if people are willing constantly churn - and I'd recommend doing so to anyone looking for the absolute best deal. We just aim to provide a service which doesn't require 75 trillion calendar reminders to be set to ensure you're not being ripped off.

All discussed in prevoius posts. Sure there maybe better specials out there, but this is more for those that are happy with 25/10 and:
      - couldn't be stuffed constantly changing ISPs to save a few dollers.
      - looking for a reliable service.
      - Option for static IP and not locked behind CGNat.
      - Good CS should the need arise.
Nice and easy and a breath of fresh air.

    • Personally I'm not sure it would be worth the effort. While you do get 6 months of 50/20, in dollar terms you're only saving $4.80 compared to just staying with It's Fubar for 12 months. When you also consider things like different billing cycles/policies between ISPs, that saving very easily becomes a loss if you miscalculate your churn.

This. I was with tangerine before, missed a reminder to churn and i paid full price for a month, which basically ate a big chunk of the money i saved. In here you just pay a bit more for the convenience of not having to churn constantly

      • If you're fine with 25/10 and don't want the hassle of churning, this is probably fine.

  • No complaints here. I use fubar to run a security system on a vacant property and it does the job.

  • I'm with them on Opticomm, and lately I've been noticing dropouts that last up to a minute. Like you click a link to go to a webpage, and it says "website not found". Reloading the page twenty seconds later does find the webpage. This is on a PC connected to the router via ethernet.

I'm also seeing this on my wifi-connected mobile, the Gmail app occasionally asks me to re-enter my server details, presumably because it can't find the server. If I wait a minute, and then close and re-open the app, all is good.

Is this a known problem with Opticomm?

    • Nope…. sounds like something is potentially going on with your router/modem configuration or service which might be dropping your session with us. Would you mind raising a ticket via your client portal? I want to look into this and potentially shift you to our new IPoE Opticomm service model. Something is definitely not normal in what you're describing.

      • Would you mind raising a ticket via your client portal?

        Thanks, shall do.

    • Just a guess but could be a dns issue. Maybe try setting your PC to use Cloudflare or Google instead of ISP(probably what you’re using now) and see if it keeps happening on the PC.

      • Thanks, it appears I am already using Cloudflare.

My Linux PC (the one mentioned above) says it's using 192.168.1.1 (my router) in /etc/resolv.conf

        My router, running OpenWRT, says

        DNS 1: 1.1.1.1
        DNS 2: 9.9.9.9

  • Just signed up yesterday at $53.90/month based on the great reviews from the previous deal. Received the email that the price would be lowered. That, on top of the easy and fast set up process - I'm very happy so far.

This came off the back of trying to connect NBN with another provider since August. Six weeks and several calls both ways with the provider, and still no NBN connection.

Looking forward to It's Fubar - it seems fantastic so far.

  • Great company, highly recommend their service. Been using for about 7 months now.

  • I moved my parents to them during the last deal. Very reliable, no issues at all for them. Love that its ongoing and set and forget. 25mbps is fine for all streaming, even 4k without an issue.
