Outdoor Sauna Options - 2 People

We have space in an outdoor area and would like to invest in a sauna. 2 of us. We think we prefer the traditional ones over the IR ones. Been eyeing up some of the options from Revel and LuxoLiving.

I was hoping to get any advice, lessons learnt, recommendations about brands and options from those that have been down this path. Thanks

Comes with optional key bowl for guests?

A wood fired sauna will run during a blackout, or you could buy a generator. Once you start using a sauna regularly you'll be sad when it doesn't work during a blackout.

How often does the power go out at your house for this to even be a consideration?

Missing just one sauna session would ruin my year.

Thanks for reply, but would prefer to have it take advantage of the solar. Wood fired sounds like more effort than electric

  • I was just thinking about this today.
Has anyone bought a kit and assembled it yourself before?
Or is it better to just get it done professionally.
I'd like to keep it under 3k.
    Cheers.

If you are in Melbourne the home show has a few stands with Saunas. Getting into the show is free.

We got one in the bathroom. Took the leaking bath out before christmas, bought a 3 person traditional sauna from ebay for 2600, got it shipped from melbourne to tassie for 850, and had it wired up for 1500… tasmania is terrible like that. Shipping across the ditch and expensive tradies. But we have a great sauna we use it twice a week. We no longer have a bath in the house, but we only.miss that twice a year perhaps….

    • Is the idea to have a shower beforehand and after? This might be an indicator if a nearby shower is a good idea.

Sorry your house resale has tanked now

I've got an infrared sauna from Kylin sauna but seems like they sell traditional ones too. I initially preferred the traditional too but eventually opted for IR due to convenience and cost. Maybe also take a look at the outdoor saunas range from Alpine Spas? I did consider Luxoliving but went with Kylin because they were local and offered free delivery.

    • Yours indoors? I assumed IR in a Melbourne winter outdoors would struggle to be much fun. After a hot experience with option for steam. Thanks, will check their website out now.

      • Yep mines indoors, don't think it will be suitable in winter as it might take a while to get up to temp if outdoors. My 2 person sauna takes around 20-30min to heat up to 55C from ambient. I actually prefer traditional because of the steam. But I know I'm lazy and want minimal effort. IR is easy to start with a few buttons and you will only need to make sure the seating area is clean/dry afterwards (chuck a towel under you). Though that's not to sway you from choosing traditional, I would've gotten one if it was cheaper.

  • What is your budget?

There are heaps of companies that sell saunas ranging from 2k-30k. What features do you want with your sauna? The options are endless.

Ignoring the sparky costs, about 10k give or take 2k.

Have a look at these companies if you haven’t already.

        Solace Saunas
        Sunlighten
        Found Space

        • Thanks for this. However they all appear to only offer IR saunas and not traditional.

  • Which option did you end up going with?
