Dishwasher Recommendations up to $1000

Our ~8 year old dishwasher has died, so it's time to replace.

Looking to spend up to $1000 for a free-standing unit.

So many options, and ratings all over the shop between ratings sites and retailers.

Current model is an LG, which we have been happy with.

I see some models have a cutlery rack, but we prefer a basket. We have 2 so we can fill one while the other is in the unit (yes … we be lazy!!)

Any advice is much appreciated.

[UPDATE:] Pulled it apart and gave the control board and display board a thourough cleaning, squirted some electronic cleaning solvent in all the plugs and switches, and it now works!

    Dishwasher Recommendations up to $1000

    My wife.

    • You are selling your wife to op?

      • "Looking to spend up to $1000 for a free-standing unit."

        • I take that as a yes. Will she last longer than eight years?

          • +2

            @joka: German made. Nice racks…

            • @jv: Bosch Series 8 has an innovative spray function to achieve a deep clean.

    • Do I get a discount because she's a used unit 😂

      • refurb

        • Refurbs are still cheaper than new!

          • @photonbuddy: Vintage ones are collector's items and can cost more…

            • @jv: If she's that old, spare parts would be hard to come by, and running costs are higher than the more efficient newer models.

              • @photonbuddy: German quality. Spare parts are not needed.

                • @jv: German quality demands high maintenance!!

    • Sorry @jv, you'll have to find someone else to buy her.

I'll keep her in mind if it fails again though …

Why are you happy with the LG if it lasted only eight years? I wouldn't be happy with that, surely you want one that would last longer.

    • Extenuating circumstances, which may or may not be common to all dishwashers.

    German made Bosch

    • ^this^

    • Found one under $1000 ? lol

  • Bosch Series 8

    • +2

Where can I have one of these for under $1000?

      • Fair point…. I swear they used to be chaper than the $1,800 they seem to be listed at today!

      • But you dare to ask someone's wife

      • Have you check this one https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/xd4b15ps-lg-15-place-set…
It has 2y warranty and good reviews (ex ozb) lol
I had no name brand, Bosch and Westinghouse, and worst was westinghouse.

        • That looks ok, although it has the cutlery rack instead of a basket.

Read a review on it that says to make it a 15 place unit, they move the slots closer. Not sure how that would affect cleaning power.

          • @photonbuddy:

That looks ok, although it has the cutlery rack instead of a basket.

thats good to know, So Bosch/Miele are out LOL

  • If you can get a Bosch Series 6 for under $1,000, I'd go for that. You have to wait for a sale.

Otherwise, save some cash and get a Beko https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/beko-freestandin…

$650 delivered with a 5 year warranty. Good value for money.

  • How is Beko customer service during warranty? I dont find much info on that. 5 years is good period but if they dont have good service then it is useless.

I'm interested in their 16 place setting which has selfdry feature. dont see that feature in bosch series 6 model door auto opens after the cycle.

    • Can't say as I haven't had to use their warranty.

I generally purchase from Appliance Online and their customer service is very good. So if I have issues with Beko warranty, I have them for back up/ACL warranty.

For the price their products are very good.

  • I’m pretty hard on my dishwashers, but I usually get around ten years out of Bosch machines. If you’re lucky, you can still score a German-made Bosch for about a grand.

I’d definitely make sure you get one with a cutlery drawer—super handy for washing all sorts of odds and ends. (It can even be used for poaching eggs, but that story’s for another time…) Plus, you can still use your cutlery baskets if you prefer!

  • Euromaid, anytime, they are great machine, great wash, good after sales service if required and spares available.

My office machine ( which does get abused) is running since 8 years and no dramas.

All my IP property has Euromaid and no complaints from any tenant.
