Was hunting for a MicroSD card for my dashcam, found this to be the cheapest Max Endurance grade around.
Original price is at $169 from Officeworks, got them to price match and brought it down to $70.64

Edit:
If you order from US Amazon, you can get it for around $60.57 AUD / $37.51 USD just longer wait time.

  • FYI sold by SwiftOrder not Amazon.
    YMMV???

    • if you get it from Officeworks, then it doesn't really matter

Not sure how you'd get Officeworks to price beat this. They won't price beat items on Amazon not sold by Amazon AU.

        • I am not sure, the cashier did it for me yesterday

The Samsung pro endurance 256gb is $64 if you must have one now (does get discounted every now and then, low of $40 on camels).

The Samsung pro endurance has longer rated hours (140,000) at a specified bitrate (Based on Full HD (1920x1080) video content recorded at 26 Mbps(3.25MB/s)) compared to the Sandisk max endurance (120,000 hours at unknown bitrate). Both will probably outlive your dash cam/recording device, but why pay more for less?

    • If price is the concern then yes, or get Sandisk High Endurance, it is even cheaper. I am just not sure if it can survive the Australian summers.

      • The High endurance is a lower class of card and quality, and rated for much fewer write cycles (20,000 hours according to Sandisk, 1/6th of the claim for the max endurance). I have actually had a Sandisk high endurance card fail in the product's life time (FWIW, 20,000 hours is around 833 days of 24/7 recording. 120,000 hours from the Max endurance would be 5000 days)

The Max endurance and the Pro endurance are the top continuous recording cards marketed by Sandisk and Samsung respectively. You are definitely paying more than the high endurance, but you are getting some value from them.

You got sucked into marketing scam by SanDisk. There isn't much worth wasting on expensive card. If it dies, you need to make sure your dashcam can tell you that. And if the footage got lost in a crash there are a lot of variables at play.

        • Not sure what you mean by sucked into marketing.

If the micro SD card fails, I have to replace it (assuming I want to keep using the recording device). If I have to pay double for something that lasts more than twice as long? That's good value.

          • @Fiximol: That's not how memory works. The bottom line is memory products need to be constantly monitored irrespective of the rating.

That is what Igacb is trying to say.

Paying double for piece of mind is just that, it's a piece of mind but also survivorship bias.

        • SanDisk warranties for High vs Max would tend to disagree that there isn't any difference.

Looks good. Unfortunately neither the Samsung Pro or Sandisk High End are recommended by Viofo (my dashcam). Hopefully good for other brands though.

  • Does anyone know if Blackvue DR750S 2Ch can take 256gb cards, or is it 128gb max? And I seem to recall using Sandisk high endurance early on, and it causing issues. Assume that is no longer the case.

    • +2

750S didnt like Sandisk high endurance cards. They killed 2 cards but no issues with Samsung pro endurance. 256gb should work.
Later blackvue cameras seem to work ok with sandisk high endurance so they have changed something but dont think they fixed 750S issue so id still avoid. Wouldnt be worth testing to see if they have fixed as you may lose another card.
I'd get Samsung pro endurance over either Sandisk anyway.

  • True this is one of the better value options. But it's been hovering around $74 on Amazon for several weeks (also been monitoring for a dash cam).
The OW price match brings it down a few bucks, but is it worth the drive into the store? Hard to beat Amazon free shipping if you're with Prime.

    • I just called and the person I talked wouldn't price beat because it's not sold by Amazon AU and they couldn't establish if it's a parallel import. YMMV

      • Ok. So theres not really any deal here then. Just the regular Amazon price.

  • any warranty if buy from US?

  • Tried this the other week and officeworks wouldn't price match. Had to get them to match centrecom instead.

  • About to purchase another ,, This was my previous purchase price " Dispatched on 23 November 2024

Officeworks were selling these for ~$95 the other week. I avoid getting cards from amazon as it's reported they mix stock with the other sellers and the chance of getting a fake card is too great.

    • If you suspect of fake product, you can always return them.
Also, for what its worth, it does have "Amazon's Choice" logo, 64K units sold and 4.8 star review.

      • Even the manufacturer can't tell what's fake. I'd rather not risk it for something so critical. I only buy in-store from reputable places.

  • Thanks! Got one through amazon with credit I had. Was after a new SD card after I kept getting the “card too slow” error on my Viofo A229 plus posted few weeks ago. Will replace the 128GB Sandisk High Endurance.

  • What's the difference between high endurance which is designed for dashcams and cctv and max endurance

    • Max endurance is the one viofo recommend for their cameras. The other one is not recommended.

Looks like price has been lowered further to $67.49
