Pinnacle 2090x1820x540mm Heavy Duty Work Station $372 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Bunnings

700

Got notified by pricehipster of the drop in price for this workbench, normally $469 (from memory was $450 last year) but now $372.

If I had the room in the garage I'd buy another.

Not sure if any of the other Pinnacle items have had a price drop too.

  • OOS in all the Bunnings stores in my region. :(

I’d love this for my shed.

      I bought this one instead - $361.79 + delivery

      • +1

It’s the delivery that kills it for me: $290.18 to a residential address.

      • Basically the same thing as bunnings

I do notice that my pegboards are bolted in, where's as the new model the pegboard are clip-in like every other piece

  • +1

    How sturdy is it OP?

    • +1

I have a similar/older version of this without the top half. i.e. just bench. Very sturdy. Also have their other heavy durty shelving and again very sturdy.

      • +2

        Agree, very sturdy.

        • +1

          Agree, very sturdy indeed

          • +1

@Headless: Confurming it's heavy durty and very sturdy

    • +3

I purchased this 2 months ago, if made correctly it's incredibly sturdy. The pegboard attachments can add up quite quickly so I jumped on Amazon and purchased much cheaper 25mm gap pegboard attachments/baskets etc

  • I have no GCs :(

  • Looks similar to one from Aldi a few years back. Bench looks better though.

  • I use "pallet racking" instead, because it's cheaper and stronger (eg $145+$90 on Amazon).

    • Has it got steel or wood shelf? Your photo shows wood, but your link are showing steel?

      • +1

Mine are old and have wood (I took this one out of my shed, which has 2 more). Get whatever you want I guess. Probably doesn't make a difference.

        • Get whatever you want I guess. Probably doesn't make a difference.

Nope, big difference. The particle board ones will 100% guarantee to warp/bow. You can see that has occurred to yours.
It gets even worse if stored in an area with more moisture accessible like a garage or shed. We have have thrown out far too many boards that have warped to hell in our shed.
Got metal ones and issue is gone. Will never go back to the particle boards again.

    • This comes with pegboard that could cost $100 alone for the size. About $90 off is not decent but a deal.

      • $25 for CUSTOMwood 1200 x 900 x 5.5mm Black / White Reversible Pegboard

But just giving some ideas. Because FYL, just 2 of my shelves can support as much as OP's fully loaded Pinnacle rack :D

        • Fair. This wooden pegboard is also an option that I can add to my space on a budget tho. Less financial stress.

For comparisons, I assume this workbench got 1/2 the size pegboard of 100x180cm, which is closer to the $49 wooden one. Metal vs wood. The Ikea one needs 4x to get 150x110cm ($120), and the Amazon 4pk one needs 2x to get 120x120cm with plenty attachments ($105 after 25% off).

        • just 2 of my shelves can support as much as OP's fully loaded Pinnacle rack :D

What is the shelf and total weight rating of yours?
The similar ones I see on Bunnings has a max of 200kg per shelf (total 1,000kg) - https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-1830-x-1200-x-540mm-glo…

OPs has a rating of 625kg per shelf and bench top Remember, OPs has a full wooden bench top, not just shelving.

          "625kg BENCHTOP & PER SHELF.
NOTE: This product has been tested to safely carry a load of up to 2500kg evenly distributed, when properly installed and maintained"

Edit: I see further down you picked up an error in your weight ratings.

    • Dont know where you get the stronger from? I've had a giantz and also have Pinnacle heavy duty, and the pinnacle is stronger with steel shelves rated for far more weight. That said I've no issue with sturdiness from either, both do the job, but i ended gifting the Giantz.

      • True. I must have accidentally looked at the Pinaccle with timber shelves, which is only 200kg/shelf, versus the one in OP with steel mesh shelves that supports 625kg/shelf.

Compare that to some longspan shelving where chipboard = 450kg, steel mesh = 280kg, and galv sheet = 360kg. Strange how the mesh is so much weaker in this instance. The "tie bars" must be helping a great deal on the Pinnacle's?

        • +1

The tie bars reduces the effective length of the bending moment.

  • Suitable for DIY arcade cabinet?

  • I paid $450 for this necSuee it's never been in special that I ever seen and fitted my space perfectly
I replaced the faux wooden bench top with double thickness specrite form ply, so it wipes down easy and is more durable
Bolted specrite to the pegboard backing board so I can screw things on to it easier, rather than the metal pegboard requiring the expensive holders. As I nothing in the range seemed to fit what I liked.

Bought the display one in my local bunnings for $70 bucks, beat that price. Very happy, easy to assemble and sturdy

    • +1

      How?

      • See a display item and ask for a deal I guess

  • I bought the smaller version of this on clearance for $75

  • overpriced rubbish along with the rest of the range… for people in Adelaide, go to paramount browns, far better quality

  • +2

Would this be good to actually stand at to tinker / fix things - or sit at (bar stool maybe)? Or is it more for storage and just sitting things on the bench top part (3D printer maybe)??

  • +1

Having owned pinnacle and rack-it shelving i would only buy rack-it now, significantly better built IMO

    • +1

      Yep, there's no comparison.

    • Is rack-it worth it though at around double the price to put together something similar to this?

      • +1

I often see it on special at my local Bunnings, because it's modular you can buy different sets to build what you want. I bought most of mine off marketplace, it's pretty indestructible so used is fine

  • shame OOS near me, could actually provide much needed storage by replacing my current bench

  • Grabed 1 out of 3 from local. Rethink again it's around $60/shelve and $70/pegboard. Not as cracking as this previous deal as low as $25/shelve. $300 under would be a sweet deal.

  • +1

I just built something similar looking out of timber for much less and is extremely sturdy and cheaper, also customisable.

Used 15ish pieces of non structural timber from Bunnings ($5.60 a pop), 2 sheets of 12mm ply for $44 each and some timber project panel for the bench top at $60. Only need a circular saw (plus a drop saw is handy), drill and impact driver. My ozito pxc stuff did perfectly fine!

    • +2

$215.20 is still so expensive man. Warehouse timber prices have been ridiculous post 2020. I snatched up this exact model without the structural upper supports for $180 2 years ago. Props to you though, feels more meaningful making your own benches for sure.

    • Time to start/learn carpenter skill…

    • Builders throw out a lot of timber that they've used for propping up frames. I got several pieces from a building site. They have nails and some paint or plaster but they're fine for garage/shed furniture. It's a pity it's not economical for someone to collect all of these rather than have them go to landfill.
