The only thing I have is an old ROKU and I need casting.
If I update what is the best TV and streaming option

Upgrade to one with Google TV is a different experience than just casting. Using remote control seems backward but it's much easier to browse thing.

The remote is king! No need to fiddle with my phone, just pick it up, select what I want to watch and we're done!
Want to pause or skip, easy!
I have to hide all the remotes as my 5 yo can mindlessly scrolling through youtube shorts. I learnt that you can use Google TV app in my phone to do the remote controlling. You can use the same app to all your TVs with Google TV. You can change a different style of remote control. You can do keyboard input in your phone.
The physical remote is still better obviously.

Hiding the remote doesn't teach the kid anything. When they get older and can find it themselves, you have the same issue. So teach them now.
If you install smart tube next on to it you can remove the shorts section. and it's got sponsor block too.
I prefer to use streaming devices over inbuilt TV services. That way I can have the same experience on every TV in the house regardless of what brand or OS.
if you need casting you can just use a chromecast, but most tvs you can cast straight to the tv. But I think the ultimate set up would be nvidia shield pro (has to be pro) with SmartTube Next, Tivimate with slyguyz tv channel list and kodi with real debrid and fen light and the loop with the simple iptv addon. Nvidia shield is getting a bit long in the tooth but it just works so well.
Nvidia shield can't play DoVi p7 FEL if 4k bluray remux are your thing.
Yeah I don't have a TV capable. Is that the dolby vision ones that make it go purple and green? there's another custom version of kodi that fixes it I've heard. I can stream 200+gb remuxes fine though. Hopefully they release a new one soon with all the latest standards.
It sounds like not many tvs if any support 12bit?
A Google TV can be a cheap way of adding casting to extra TVs around the house.
Amazon Fire stick even better, but yes!
Apple TV
+
infuse combo
is the best.
Thanks. Our other TV is a Google TV plus Chromecast. tivimate is installed on it.
Apparently I got scammed on a non Aust model of Roku years ago
Assuming my 10 yo 65" wont blow up soon, I don't want any technical features.
All I want is to stream via something simple that can add things like tivi
Sorry to highjack but can android devices cast stream/Chromecast to an apple tv?
