  • Any good to go triband or dual band is ok?

    • If you have wired backhaul (network cable between the units) dual band is fine.

I use this at my parents' place and honestly unless everyone on the network is streaming 4k, dual band is also fine

    • You internet mostlikely give up first before the router reach it limit.

  • How does this compare with google nest wifi pro?

    • +2

      It doesn't. You're comparing AX1800 with AXE4200.

  • Got the 2-pack for my parents place 6 months ago on that previous deal. Hasn't needed a restart yet and I could set it to auto firmware update at 3am so it's been completely set and forget. Wifi strength seems good, certainly much better than the single AP which was struggling to reach the further rooms of their house.

Having owned ZenWiFi routers in the past (The XT12 but Asus routers in general tbh), they're a nightmare to use. Their software+firmware is very poorly written (even if you flash Asuswrt-Merlin). Nodes had to be individually updated, would randomly drop out, slow speeds at even medium distances, very poor roaming between routers, etc. I'd highly recommend looking at literally any other brand.

I returned mine for another brand, which I will not name. Although this other brand is significantly better in range, speed, and stability, its security practices are terrible, so I don't feel I should endorse it.

    • Let us know so we don’t buy it?

      • TP-Link Deco
