'The SumoSphere comes with a 3-month warranty to give you peace of mind.'

    • My mind was blown when I read that. Is that legal?

      • Idk if the wording itself is legal but regardless of the warranty period purported by the supplier, consumer guarantees apply under the ACL - https://www.smallbusiness.nsw.gov.au/help/common-questions/a…

        • Yep I'm aware of the consumer guarantee. However with the seller having only a 3 month warranty, that sounds very suss so I'm assuming trying to deal with them outside the 3 months would be extremely difficult and not worth the hassle.

    • Don't forget the "flavor purifying system".

      • +1

Soylent green is cat poo apparently.

    • +7

      That still doesn't sound convincing.

For a $299 machine like this you want at least 12 months…

Physical address is pointing to an Indian restaurant in the CBD 😅

      • +6

A year is nothing, assuming keeping it reasonably clean with only 1 cat, I'd want 3-5+ years out of most $300 products.

        • +2

Can't think of any electronic product that comes with less than a 12 month warranty. A 3 month warranty essentially tells me that it won't last much longer than that. If the product was a quality product, then the cost of providing 3 vs 12 months warranty would be minimal.

You might want to show the ABN on your website to help convince customers that you're a legitimate business…

          • @meong: I had to find it the hard way…

            ABN: 46 868 163 637

Listed as a "Sole Trader" and the ABN account was only opened Nov. 2024. NOT registered for GST. Website was only set up around Dec. 2024.

            • +1

@pegaxs: If website was only set up around Dec 2024, this means that most of those reviews on 18/1/2025 are highly fake and misleading

        • +1

How does a longer warranty increase your costs, assuming your product doesn't often break sometime after that period ends?

    • +4

How does a longer warranty increase your costs, assuming your product doesn't often break sometime after that period ends?

    • +1

and one of the ways we do that is by offering a shorter standard warranty period.

And that is illegal. YOU dont get to "set" the "warranty period".

You know what is better than building a shit quality product and then trying to force an arbitrary illegal short term warranty period? Building a quality item that will exceed it's "expected" usage life. By putting a "14 day" warranty on it, you are saying that you expect this item to be faulty after approximately 2 weeks of use.

  • Whenever I see anything like this I always think of this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1B4InQ1Ymcg&t=902s&pp=ygUcUGVu…

  • -5

If you’ve watched the video on our website, you’ll see that the Sumosphere is a genuine, feature-packed automatic litter box. It’s designed with your cat’s safety in mind, using gravity sensors and infrared sensors to detect movement and prevent operation while your cat is inside.

    • +5

Yeh sure. If it is the legit SumoSphere, it would have the brand logo in that video. I couldn’t see it displayed anywhere. And the best part is, I saw the brand “tonepie” which was the second link I posted in the comment below.

      Another dropshipper from AliExpress…

    • So what you deliver to customers is a genuine version?

  • +3

How does yours compare to a $221 item on AliExpress?
    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005008778433264.html

Item looks very identical and plenty more that’s cheaper on AliExpress…

.__. Fr? How many months do you have to wait for it, then we have warranty how are you gonna claim warranty if anything happens…

      • +2

You claim that SumoSphere is a genuine item, but it isn’t
Why are all the reviews dated 18/1/2025?

        • -6

We just have the same manufacturer, if I’m drop shipping from AliExpress how can I offer local pickup

          • +5

@[Deactivated]: You dropship it to your place and then allow local pickup…

              • +2

                @[Deactivated]: Bro…

I think you might as well sell these on FB Marketplace…

                And meet at the park…

              • +3

@[Deactivated]: Aaaand that's how you lose everyone on ozbargain. Good luck

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: We think you're full of (cat) shit with this appalling & amateur attempt to post on Ozbargain and then argue with the community.

                1. your warranty offering is inadequate & possibly illegal
                2. your item is clearly just a resold imitation Aliexpress product
                3. you are attempting to pass off an imitation product as another, authentic brand (false & misleading)

I think this is your first & last post.

Neg for all of the above & OP's terrible attitude.

            • @BargainsGrabber: Haha, seller's attitude in their responses changed real quick!

      • AliExpress takes like 2 weeks to arrive.

Ironically one of your most recent - non botted reviews complains about not getting warranty after 2 months. Check mate.

      • +1

How many months do you have to wait for it,

LOL… this nugget again? Playing the old "But it takes 8 months to get stuff from AliExpress" trope.

I have literally ordered stuff off AliExpress and had it arrive faster than stuff I have gotten out of Melbourne.

  • +6

Clicked on the link & saw this…

14 days warranty on all items , please contact us for any problems with your orders or quesions

This is very serious breach Aus Consumer Law, neg.

    • +5

14 days is like 1 cat year so the warranty is technically for 1 year 😂

    • +1

      OP deactivated the account lol

  • +8

6 in stock earlier. Then magically it's now 12 to meet posting requirement.

3 months warranty? Might as well get it directly from Aliexpress for cheaper.

Fake reviews. 3 pages worth of fake reviews all dated 01/18/2025.

  • +2

Must be really good quality for you to be able to offer a 14 day warranty 😂

  • +4

Issue with seller. Making outrageous claims about warranty that goes against ACL (from 14 days to 3 months…). Silly claims about postage times from alternative sellers. Another user pointed out that it appears to be located in an Indian takeaway shop? This just has "avoid" written all over it.

LOL… so all it seems to be is an Alibaba bulk buy special with SumoSphere branding

So, negging again for "cheaper elsewhere…"

  • +2

i have two tonpie and they have been great.
bought <2yrs ago from aliexpress direct from tonpie.
they want to sell them for $1000, however , they usually go for under half that. depends on demand .

    i paid $450 each including delivery. 😭
selling for $540 each at the time.

I'm not sure but I think tonpie is the original design , manufacturer …?
the others might be copies and possibly have weaker components like the motor ..?

  • +2

Unfortunately being a small business doesnt allow you to bypass consumer law. Honouring a proper warranty will be lots cheaper than the court cases!

  • Says $359 on the page?
