Really disappointed with my AS Colour shirts. They’ve washed really poorly, some have faded more than others, all the text on the labels is gone, and I’ve noticed a bit of sizing variance within the same style of shirt. Even on sale they aren’t that great value, I bought them purely because of how hard it is to find a quality, reasonably heavyweight cotton t-shirt in a men’s XS.

Not a one off, I ordered the same tee in 51 different colours (every colour they had in stock at the time)… just super disappointed.

Yes I wash cold, no I don’t tumble dry. Not that a hot wash or dryer should be a problem for a colourfast cotton t-shirt.

I also went in store (West end - BNE) to check sizing and the staff in there were absolute arseholes, I’m not sure why.

Neg voting due to issue with product, and issue with retailer. It is a good first post OP, and probably how I got suckered into buying so many of their shirts in the first place :(

(I’m aware of how popular AS Colour is around here and completely expect my neg vote to be counter-neg voted into oblivion haha)

    • I’m finding the same. One shirt that’s older still looks new, but the newer ones are stretching and fading and even piling

    • What shirt do you like better? Even you said it's really hard to find a wide range of sizes, in different weight t-shirts. I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, buying shirts with extra length, without an X in the sizing, and I don't see any other Australian clothing companies offering that.

The text on the labels is gone… why don't you remove the labels from your clothing? Some have faded more than others… it sounds like you bought different fabrics (they have more than 1).

At the moment I’m cycling between mostly Uniqlo and Connor (both available in XS) - neither are as ‘heavyweight’ but have held up well to regular washing. I live in Brisbane so I’m not trying to stay warm 99% of the year anyway.

Re different fabrics, they were all the same tee, just in different colours - other than the marle variants, they’re all 100% cotton - so I would assume virgin (or recycled or whatever) cotton, that is then dyed? So I think it’s a matter of some colours washing better than others. They’re all worn pretty evenly.

I don’t know. I’ve checked out for the evening! Haha

      I’m not sure why.

      Prob coz it’s west end

You bought 51 shirts from a brand you've never tried before?

That does seem a little excessive….

      • +1

I was wrong. It was 50. But yes, you’re right - let’s not dive into what is probably some kind of undiagnosed psychological thing tonight haha

Wow I have so many questions. How much did that cost, why would you even need 50 tees, why didn't you try a small order first, why didn't you try more than one type?

          • @fredblogs: Too many questions for the hive mind to comprehend.

          • @fredblogs: It worked out as just slightly over $10 a tee. I work in a role that often requires me to dress in a “theme” so having a shirt that fits me in so many colours seemed like a great idea at the time. And I do wear 90% of them in a rotation…

I didn’t try a small order first because I’d tried the tee I was interested in in-store, the smaller the order the more expensive the tees were, and because at the time everyone raved about the quality. I thought I was getting a “bargain”

I didn’t try more than one type because there were only 2 or 3 styles to begin with that are actually available in an XS, so wasn’t really an option - this may be different now?

            I hope this helps 😂

    • which shirt exactly?

      • 5001 Staple tee

        • maybe it's just that particular tee that has quality issues…

    • Same situation as you brother. It looks like AS Colour cut some costs. My AS Colour shirts from 2 years ago are much better quality than what i brought this year. Same style and size. Seems like if you want quality you have to spend $30-$40 now.

  • If you have dark Pepperoni nips like myself I definitely cant recommend white AS colour shirts.

    • On the flip side you must be great at wet tshirt competitions?

It’s like reverse only fans where I try to get people to pay me to put MORE clothes on

Oof lots of love for this brand in the forum post but not so much in this deal.

The minimum commitment of 5 buy is a bit of a deal breaker for me personally- oink.

    • Cannot be used in conjunction with Bulk Discounts – you must have 5 or more additional items at full price to qualify for THEDEAL

    Yeah, nah.

    • The bulk discount kicks in at 10 or more, even then the staple tees are 22.50 each.

I used THEDEAL to get 8 for $180 with free shipping. That makes it the same per unit price as 10. The coupon makes 5-9 tees the same price at 10-49.

I wear these tees most days. I can't find any other tees of this quality in larger sizes around this price.

They have really gone downhill in terms of quality over the last 5-6 years. Pretty much since they were sold to private equity I believe. Now that they're aiming to being a fashion item, they've lost their identity and are no longer a deal imo.

Damn… disappointing reading the comments about the decline of this brand :(

Terrible quality clothes. Purchased 5 t-shirts during a previous sale and they launder extremely poorly.
Skip this garbage and go with Uniqlo. Good quality heavy cotton and holds up extremely well.

  • Agree with the quality. Bought quite a few heavy tees and they have all washed poorly (only ever cold washed and line dried in shade). They all shrunk a considerable amount and the collars all warp and stretch out, which no longer sit properly when worn.
