Ted's 5 Year Camera Total Care Package

Hi all,

I purchased the Teds 5 year Camera Total Care Package around 7.5 years ago when I got my first camera. I didn't notice it has an expiry date (within 5 years) and wasn't able to find the receipt until recently.

I am wondering if they would honour it.

It's my first post ever on the forum so please be nice.

Thanks in advance

Edit OP: Thank you everyone for your input. Appreciate the help/advice. Cheers

wouldn't the expiry date give you your answer?

    • Yeah but I am wondering if there's any way I could still use it

You could ask them. But unless you're on a first name basis with the store manager and are a frequent big spending customer I doubt they would. It's 2.5 years too late.

It lasts for five years you bought it seven and a half years ago, what makes you think you can still use it?

  • Hi,

The TCP would have covered you for a Complimentary Lens Clean prior to the expiry date.

You are probably looking at $80-$100 if you are getting if you are getting dots or defects.

I don’t understand - Do you actually need to use it or?

In any case the only people that can say for sure is going to be TEDS.

    • I noticed there is a spot in my photos.

I'll go to the stores and ask them later today

Your best bet is to argue Australian Consumer Law and say it didn't last a 'reasonable time'. Depending on if your issue is related to a defect.

If you've damaged the item, best bet is home insurance check if you have portable cover and accidental damage for your contents policy.

    • Thanks! I will give it ago

Upvoting this because is up to each of us to defend our rights lest they be wittled away further by corporations and the Labor-Liberal duopoly who serve them.

It baffles me when people on a bargain hunting site downvote any mention of Australian Consumer Law and your rights under it.

To all the neggers: People died for your rights. Honour their sacrifice by defending your rights.

I was referring to the original Labor unions (as distinct from the empty husk of what is the Labor Party today) and activists in the late 1800s and early 1900s in the UK, USA, Australia and elsewhere who were often beaten up, slaughtered, and executed for their activism to seize our rights from the clutches of the Owners, the Corporations and the Crown.

To be clear I was not referring to ANZAC soldiers who were used as cannon fodder and needlessly died in a silly family feud called WW1.

      • I think people should push for their rights under ACL, but I'm also conscious that somebody getting a 14yro waffle maker replaced because the nonstick is scratched due to the fuss they make just drives up costs for the rest of us.

        ACL states "reasonable" not "forever".

In this case, I'd try the "I paid for this and never used it, and now have an issue, wouldn't you agree it is reasonable to see if you can fix it"

Wait, your’re shocked that the five year total care package expired after five years?

You’re wondering if they honour what?

    • -1

Not shocked, i just wasn't aware it had an expiry date. They've extended it to 7 years now instead of 5 years.
I wish I found the receipt earlier. Hopefully they would charge me less to get it cleaned considering I didn't use the total care package. Anyway I'll visit the store and give it a go. Cheers

        Huh?

I purchased the Teds 5 year Camera Total Care Package

It is in the name…. 5 years.

They've extended it to 7 years now instead of 5 years.

and you're still 6 months over it.

Cleaning a camera sensor is really easy, you don't need to send it to the camera shop to get it done. Simply buy a sensor cleaning kit and do it yourself. If it's only a bit of dust it'll likely come off with an air blower, otherwise a cleaning swab and a bit of cleaning solution should get rid of any dirt.

Just ordered the cleaning kit. I'll try to clean it myself. Thanks for the advice!

Why edit out the original question? This isn't snapchat FFS.

It's my first post ever on the forum so please be nice.

    No. FFS.

    • Agreed, the OP removed a significant phrase resulting in the stupid question it now is.
