Best/Cheapest Way to Source a Replacement Wing Mirror Glass and Get It Replaced

Hello braintrust, my dad has an old 2017 Range Rover Sport and managed to touch mirrors with another man's mirror an a narrow laneway. This caused the mirror to buckle and although it wasn't really damaged and neither was his but the glass in the mirror cracked somehow. I'm looking for the best/cheapest replacement possible, the only thing damaged is the cracked glass.

That comes to my question, how is everyone getting their mirror glass replaced if you ever faced this issue? The cheapest I've found seemed to be on Kogan with a $45-$50 mirror glass replacement which while does seem insanely cheap (compared to if you went to a dealer/repair shop and replaced it you'd be looking at hundreds of $) it comes with a $19 delivery fee which is killing my OzBargain soul and even Kogan First can't get rid of!

So please let me know, is there a better site with free delivery? Thank you.

    eBay $45.35 or best offer

  • There are hundreds of aftermarket replacement glass options on eBay for under $45 - just get one from there?
You're either buying genuine for a shit ton of money or you're getting aftermarket - just get the cheapest one you can find lol

  • Is it convex? If flat, you can easily get a thin mirror cut to match. I used a plastic mirror, cut to fit, as a temporary replacement.

    Check with wreckers

I got my cracked mirror glass replaced by a local glazier. They pulled out the old glass, cut a new mirror to size out of a discarded off-cut, and reinstalled it all in about 5 minutes.

In the end you're not likely to be lucky enough to get this deal, but they ended up waving me out without payment because it was so quick and easy and only cost them a few minutes of labour, but you might find that they're willing to take cash in hand/beer money.

Does the mirror have a demister? Are you you’re only looking for a mirror and not the demister too?

    • I think it does

    • Is demister to prevent fog?

      • Its not a defogger.

Are you not worried about the 7 years of bad luck?

    • What's that?

      • Superstition lol

Go to kmart and find a hand held mirror and some duct tape. Should get out of it for under $10.

    old 2017 Range Rover

Since when is a 2017 car old?

To a non car person a 2017 RR Sport would even look brand new. Nice modern shape. Pity about everything else.

Since when is a 2017 car old?

When it's a Range Rover, it ages in dog years.

      • Especially if it has air suspension.

Got to budget for all the other repairs.

      • Exactly.. Gets more shop time than driving time..

    • It's not my range rover!

    • You're awesome thanks! I suspect it's probably even cheaper on Taobao maybe but I don't know how to search for it..

I bought cheap glass for my car and I hate it. It gives a much narrower field of view than the original because it is flat vs the original which was slightly convex. It makes a big difference.

  • Shaving mirror from Kmart and a roll of duck tape, $3.73 total to fix it forever.

  • Once u find the mirror..look on youtube as to how to swap it out…it will probably be easy enough…they are held in with clips.
