[Pre Order] Hisense 85 Inch U7N ULED 4K Mini LED Smart TV $2098 Delivered @ Appliances Online

820

First deal, wah wah wah…

Thought this was alright for the money, don't really give a rats if you disagree. Couldn't justify the almost $1k more for the U8N so settled on this.

(Great reviews from various sources.) Reminder: Australian panels are different for Hisense. See this Aus review.

3 year warranty. Yeah.

Oh, don't forget the referral link for another $50 off, bringing it to $2048.

Happy long weekend folks!

Decent enough. Better to spend that "1k more" for a 98 incher

    • Happy to pay extra for 8N if it was available.

    • +1

Are there any 98" Mini LED TV's for around 1k more?

      • +1

There was. TCL 98 inch on the base model last month. It was a run out sales

        • +2

Yep, when it was less than 3k

      • Well today your lucky day there is a 98inch again on sales. Grab it

  • +9

Great deal, the only downside is their operating system Vidaa but for this price well worth it

    • +2

Yep agree. Just add your choice of an external device eg Nvidia Shield, CCWGTV, Fire Stick etc

    • 100%

Hisense's hardware is up to the task
VIDAA will ultimately be it's downfall though

TCL and android/google TV any day of the week.

  • +1

    Better than TCL?

    • +9

The only problem with hisense is it doesn't run Google tv while tcl does which is a massive advantage.

      • +9

Is it? It's not that hard to buy a Chromecast w/Google TV and plug it into a screen.

        • +3

I use an Apple TV on my TV. Never have a problem.

        • +1

It's never quite as good as a decent native solution though is it… Yeah it can be an upgrade to the smarts on a "Ffalcon" or something like that, but a good native OS is always preferable.

It's just nice not to have to F around with two remotes, which you inevitably do when you go down the "plug in" smarts route.

          • +1

@Binchicken22: We have Google tv plugged in to our Hisense and only need the one remote. It's faster than the tv os

          • +2

@Binchicken22: I use this solution with my LG TV and only use one remote for ordinary use. I only need to use the LG remote if changing the TV settings.

            • @AlanHB: Yep, so you still gotta keep that other remote hanging around somewhere…

          • +3

@Binchicken22: I would argue a separate Nvidia Shield (although only running Android TV) with a custom launcher is better than a TV's native Google TV.

            • -1

@Whatisthatvelvet: Give me a native android/google TV over something that requires an additional accessory any day of the week.

          • +1

@Allaa1980: I don't think you've actually used this solution before, because it's not slow - it's the same speed as any app in your tv.

Otherwise the streamer is currently the only one you can buy new, and costs $147, which is not a crazy amount of money in the world of electronics.

            • -4

@AlanHB: Mate I have the google chromecast 4k and it's slower than my Sony X8000H which is an old 5 year old tv. Everything loads faster on the Sony tv. If a 5 years old tv outperforms 4k chromecast then a tv of 2024 or 2025 is much faster hardware wise with better chip and bigger ram.

              • +2

@Allaa1980: Cool bro, but do you have Chromecast with Google TV? If not, you really don't have any experience in what we're talking about.

                • -5

@AlanHB: Yeah mate I have the google chromecast 4k connected to my Sony X8000H tv and the purpose of it is only to watch football (soccer) as optus sport runs at 50fps which the Sony tv can't do natively and so video looks juddery. So when I compare both I literally use both regularly and my point is if the hardware of a 5 year old tv is better than the chromecast then imagine how much difference there's with a tv model from this year or last year.

                  • +2

@Allaa1980: So you don't have Chromecast WITH GOOGLE TV, and really have no idea what we're talking about.

      • +1

        Use chromecast i did same

      • My problem with appliances running Google (like my aircon controller, which was 2 Android versions behind on installation) is that once they are no longer getting updates, they become a security risk for which exploits are readily available. Less so with a simplistic proprietary TV OS.

        • +1

With the TV could you just not connect it to wifi?

          • @bleeder: Sure. But then you need an external device for media. With a tv OS, I'd be less worried that it could be infiltrated to perform malicious actions on my home network - it wouldn't support the capabilities (I hope).

            • @Make it so: On my tv I only use my Chromecast device, it used to support turning on the TV with the one remote but that stopped working at some point. Now I have a home assistant automation art up so when I turn on the Chromecast th TV turns on and vice versa. Works great and I can just use one remote now, but was a pain in the ass to set up, I'm not gonna lie!

I'm scared of Hisense because I've seen new ones break very quickly when they use them in meeting rooms at work.

      • Is that actually the only problem? How does the panel compare to C855?

  • +14

Upvoted purely for first deal post description

    • +2

He needs to update his categories or tags or whatever they're called though. If you go to 'TVs" this deal doesn't show up

  • -1

Any idea this is vs TCL C745 Pro? It's not technically mini LED but 144 Hz vs this (I don't know) also fair bit cheaper.

    • This has 144mhz as well and the mini-led should mean it’s a nicer looking panel.

  • +2

I have a Hisense U8, and I am still pissed off that all the reviews I read meant nothing cause the display they use in Aust is inferior… :\ I should have got the Sony I was originally going to get.

  • +3

Reminder Australian panels are different for Hisense. See the Aus review below

    https://cybershack.com.au/reviews/hisense-u7nau-4k-mini-led-…

    • That's a really good writeup and interesting how the Aus version differs. We fall into the 'Joe and Jane Average' category and would only be able to tell a good TV from a great one if side-by-side.

  • +1

Great deal, I got one a week ago and love it. Paid $2500 with a big wall mount but needed something urgently as my TV died (June ETA on these).

It's bloody massive, make sure you have room for it! Easy to convince yourself that 85" doesn't look big when viewing it in store, haha.

  • I wasn’t too sure about Hisense brand, but was pleased surprised after the purchase. Good solid products.

  • I got the 75 for 1150 and 50 gift card happy as can be 😊
