You wish. Even on clearance sale they usually goes about $1k, and it always sell out very quickly

      • Maybe $1k.

      • -6

This has gone on plenty of sales before, hitting 900. With coupons and maybe price match, it can go well below 900. That's the right deal for me.

        • +5

The absolute cheapest the Q990D has been on Ozbargain is $999 through the Samsung EPP, which not available to everyone. The next cheapest was $1,054. The Q990C went a little cheaper, but not “well below 900”.

        • Where have you seen q990B/C/D at $900 mark? Like @notme53 has mentioned the cheapest for q990D was $999, and it was through Samsung EPP so its not possible to do pricematch and use GC.

        • I think you might be confusing this with other similar models like 930.. 990 series doesn't dip below 1000… Also, F is the latest.. so no way they are discounting it heavily…

    • Guess you never got one then.

I followed from B to C, looking for my magic number of $900 as well.

Eventually got it from the good guys on the 31/1/24 for $940 plus gift cards

      Such a good soundbar

      • Yeah, I got the 930D instead for $550. 990D only has passthrough but I don't really need it. The average person doesn't need 990D. OzB is OzB for a reason, and I prefer a good deal over a generic discount. Sure, with my 10% JB Hi Fi or The Good Guys price match, coupons and gift cards, it could go well below $900, but I'd rather it go near $800 by that point before I actually pull the trigger.

        • The 990D has VRR support for 4K 120hz on passthrough as well as better rear speakers, if you're a gamer then the 990D is the better option. Appliance Online have the 990D for $1168 still.

    • Since the Q990B, these are on on TGGC for ~1300 and they're well worth it. At that price there simply is no better soundbar, you have to spend a fair bit more to get close. If you get it for less that's great but you generally have to wait a few months for sales.

Was just about to post this myself. Was looking for the Q990D and stumbled across the Q990F for a similar price through Good Guys Commercial.

Lads how is HW-Q990F compare to Sonos Arc Ultra?

    • +1

      990F beats Arc

      • +2

990d comfortably beats the arc except for music where it comes close but is the full package.

      RTings review: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/samsung/hw-q990f

"The Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc Ultra and Samsung HW-Q990F are both flagships catering to slightly different needs. The Sonos appeals to people who already have products from the Sonos ecosystem and who are familiar with using their phone as a remote. It has a slightly wider stereo soundstage and a punchier bass by default. Both soundbars have alright performance for height channels, though the Samsung may have an edge due to the greater audio format support. It also has more ports for HDMI In and Optical, which are absent on the eARC-only Sonos (unless you get an adapter for Optical). The Samsung's sound is more balanced out of the box as well, though both have sound enhancements that could tilt either in your favor."

Now the price of the Sonos Premium to Immersive system versus the Samsung is around $3549 to $4135 and is competing against dedicated surround speaker systems.

At almost three times the price of the Samsung, maybe two if you can search for a great deal, the Sonos and Bose systems struggle to compete on price and in some areas features.

    • And how about Q9330d vs sonos arc ultra?

    • Q990 better out the box. If you add 2 rears and a sub to the ultra then I'd say the Sonos but that's extra $$$

  • Did they ever fix the automatic firmware update that bricked everyone's system?

    • +2

Early adopter of 990d has been running for a year without being turned off. Never bothered with any firmware update as it's been rock solid, my sonos otoh.. Just regret

  • Will the "commercial" part negate any warranty in any way?

    • No, you still get fully warranty

  • Thanks so much. I have purchased one. I’m upgrading from a very old Samsung soundbar. I can’t wait to hear the difference.

Logged into CBA employee commercial site and prices are slightly cheaper. Might be worth trying to get Goodguys to price match? I can share the screenshot for anyone interested.

    990F $1214
    930F $983
    800F $685

I’m wondering if the 800F is good value, I don’t think I require the additional two speakers? Connecting to TCL75C855

    • -1

Not when the 930D has fallen to that price (and lower).

      • Thanks mate, good call, I missed out on the recent 930D deal at retravision. Will hold off hoping for another retailer to discount to similar price.

    • +2

      Cheers for sharing the screenshot.
Walked in and was able to get the 990F down to $1220 with it.
Paid with 5% off gift cards so $1159 pick up.
Now to find some stands for the rear.

      • +1

Any chance you could share the receipt ? Hoping to get a price match. Thank you.

      • Would love to get a receipt, thanks

      • could you please share receipt as well.

        Thanks in advance

    • Are you able to share the screenshot with me as well please? Will try to get price match with local TGG. Thanks.

      • PM’d

        • Could you please send it to me as well thank you!🙏

    • Hi I was looking to buy a soundbar. Can you please share the screenshot?TIA.

    • Can i please get a copy as well? TIA

  • -2

Harvey Norman have it for $1294 if you can’t get GGC and you could price match that elsewhere if you hate Gerry.

    • +4

      That's the Q990D

  • +1

This soundbar probably accepted as the best in the market for movies and the rears need to be plugged into power all the time. If you cant have rears permanently plugged eg you have a open style lounge and cant have cords etc the jbl bar 1000/1300 is the next best option.

  • How is the 990F compared to Sony Theatre Quad aside from the obvious price point?

  • Any real benefits over Q990D? F has 1 active & 1 passive sub vs 1 (or 2) active subs in D?

I've been advised don't buy without a good retailer extra warranty. Any thoughts on this?

  • I already bought with my good guy commercial account. Very good deal.thanks op.

  • Just bought one. Thanks! Any recommendation for budget rear speaker stands?

    • +1

I just got it too. I bought these stands https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C81FKV37.

Seem to do the trick, and can route the cable down through the stand.

      • Here was the link I was looking for which I already saved what soundbar package did you buy?
I decided to get the 930d got it knocked down in price with fitter 5% off not as cheap as some past ones lately but close enough for me to bite.
I believe these stands fit the 930d as well and most Samsung rear speakers.
I am just curious or I read the cables that are fed through the stands there is not much left how much are we talking?
Some even mentioned about replacing the cables that come with rear speakers with longer ones?

But I have no idea what to look for what brand etc and did you use such cables as well.
        Thanks

        • I ended up buying the 990F soundbar. The stands should fit the 930d rear speakers as I think they are very similarly sized, the stands also accommodate a range of speaker sizes.

Regarding cables I thought I would need longer ones, but the 990F came with 2 short power cables and 2 longer power cables. I used the short ones for the sub & soundbar, and then used the longer cables for the rear speakers. The way I set the rears up is I have a 4 port powerboard underneath the couch, and then run the longer cables to the rear speakers. I've found the longer cables are easily long enough to put the rear speakers a good distance behind the couch.

  • Was able to get Harvey norman to price match to 1270. Liking it so far but need to get a new android TV box as my TV cant pass through Dolby true HD Atmos.

    • +1

Sorry what’s this can’t get pass through Dolby true hd?
I have a Samsung 65" BU8000 Crystal LED UHD 4K and I picked up a Samsung 930d soundbar which comes with the rear speakers, I yet to unbox it and set up.
Obviously or I think with my tv or with this soundbar package either both or one don’t have Dolby true bd atmos? Or am I just getting confused?
Am I going to miss out something important with not having such set up when you mention a tv box etc?

I obviously want to get the best out of my tv and soundbar with the best sounds etc and just needed to ask.

      • There are two types of Dolby Atmos - the ones streaming services use which is compressed Atmos which my TCL TV could pass through to the soundbar. However if I was watching Blu-Ray remux files my TV was unable to passthrough uncompressed Dolby Atmos True-HD, instead it downsampled it to Dolby PCM - which is missing height channels. I ended up getting the Ugoos AM6B+ device which can passthrough the uncompressed audio. I think there are a few other boxes which can do it as well such as Nvidia Shield. I don't think many TVs are able to passthrough the Blu-Ray disc version of uncompressed Dolby Atmos True-HD.

Edit: the key is the source media, if you're not watching Blu-Ray remuxes via the TV then unlikely to be an issue for you. I see you mentioned in another comment that you have a Blu-Ray player - if you plug this directly into the soundbar and then get the soundbar to passthrough the video to the TV then you should get True-HD support.

        • Sorry I’m not very clued up on this.
I have a Samsung 65" BU8000 Crystal LED UHD and yep it’s not the best and don’t know what I was thinking at time only got it 2023 so will not be getting rid anytime soon.
This tv was originally in the bedroom as our very old plasma died on us.
So I swapped over this 3d tv I had for the Samsung tv as planning on watching 4k movies and I not actually watched one yet.

The soundbar I have with the Samsung is a Sony soundbar which was purchased about same time as 3d tv back in 2016.
So i decided I just want to have better sound so i will get something better and put the Sony one back with the Sony 3d tv.

So now that I have the Samsung 65" BU8000 Crystal LED UHD in this room now I started looking for a new soundbar I almost went for a800f which was posted on this site with a deal through my bank and was going to be if i remember $673 or something like that.

But someone got me started and thinking and yes i do like to buy new tech than old but this set i got seemed good still is I read and it’s only last year model the 930d.

I yet to set it up the soundbar still in box and ordered a stand from amazon one you posted and plenty say it’s good for 930d also.

I’m not very clued up on this sort of tech etc and when replacing two tvs at the time I just purchased random ones.
The bigger TCL 75" C835 4K Full Array Mini LED QLED Google TV [2022] got this 2023, tv is in the main lounge where the kids and wife and I hang out occasionally.
I like to come in this other room and watch something different occasionally.
The tcl has an older soundbar which actually sounds ok probably first of its kind when came out.

The tcl sits on a big unit, the other unit I have in this room has the Samsung 65 inch.
Both tvs are suited to each unit I got which they are on as i purchased them just for that sizes.

Yes I know the tcl would be the better tv to have in this room but I’m afraid wife probably will not allow me to this room and it’s just better in there anyway due to size of room.

I have a lot on in coming weeks and I maybe will be away for a few weeks so if I don’t have this 930d soundbar set up by then I might need to wait till mid July. But personally I would like to try and set it up so I can check it’s all ok and not faulty and same with the Amazon stands for speakers they might be damaged inside box for all I know.

I have 2 4k players I’m sure the Sony 4K Bluray Player UBPX700 set up in this room with Samsung tv currently as mentioned never played anything on it yet.

The tcl has this Panasonic DP-UB820 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ Support

So should I swap over the 4k players? I believe the tcl will be the better tv for 4k, but I’m thinking of this soundbar if it’s makes it better for my Samsung tv?

As for having a blu ray player it’s an older one and it’s from overseas but probably still a good one still.

I just want to have the best setup I can have with what I have ie change over 4.k players.
I thought I read comments maybe it was reviews on speakers stands that when you feed cable down the legs it uses a good part of the rear speaker and people needed longer ones.
I was just going to use multi plug extension if need be but they said you can get similar to what you get with your rear speakeasy but much longer if you want, and it looks nicer.
My sofa would probably hide most of this anyway.

I’m sure the instructions with tthe soundbar will show you how best to set up?
I will have an older blu ray player, a 4k player and a Xbox x.
Even setting up the tv right will probably make a difference ie to get you the best possible out of the Samsung tv, not sure about the 4k player though if that gets set up as well.
And obviously the objective was to get the best out of this 930d again setting for it and my set up.

This is probably easy for guys who are used set up like this all the time, so I want to make it work at its best.
Maybe I will not get Dolby atmos as my tv or 4k player don’t have it?
Or maybe I just getting mixed up

          • @bwatt72: Hey mate, looks like you have a few questions.

In terms of picture: the TCL TV can do Dolby Vision, the Samsung can do HDR10+ but not Dolby Vision.

In terms of player: the Panasonic BD player is a little better than the Samsung player, but may be better to pair with the TCL TV as the Panasonic can do Dolby Vision as can the TCL TV. Both can do Dolby Atmos audio.

In terms of setup: You want to plug the BD player into the soundbar, and then passthrough the video to the TV, so that the soundbar can decode the audio correctly.

In terms of speaker setup: I found the cables were long enough to run down the speaker stand and then into my powerboard. However I'm not sure how long the 930D cables are. If they are the same length as the 990F they should be ok. If you need longer Ikea sell some 3M cables. Try and setup up the positioning of the speakers as mentioned in the manual in terms of distance from couch / angling into the right direction.

What is the main source that you watch on? Is it from Blu-ray / 4k Blu-ray discs? Or is it Netflix/Disney+ streaming? That could help nailing down which setup is best.

            • @BigRussian: In terms of picture: the TCL TV can do Dolby Vision, the Samsung can do HDR10+ but not Dolby Vision.
              ……,
What is the difference between Dolby vision and hdr10+ I take this is picture or 4K quality and is there a great difference?
              ……..

In terms of player: the Panasonic BD player is a little better than the Samsung player, but may be better to pair with the TCL TV as the Panasonic can do Dolby Vision as can the TCL TV. Both can do Dolby Atmos audio.
              ……
Yes I had a feeling pana was a better player it was definitely more to buy but I’m sure it was the more popular one to get, not even sure why I went with the Sony as well.
So your telling me to grab the tcl tv I don’t think that will happen as wife has claimed it, it’s 75 tv and a purchased a unit ideal for it and probably would look odd on the unit my Samsung tv is on there are sane units but one is best suited for size of tv and would look silly.
I personally purchased this 930d soundbar system for this small room and anyway the 72 inch tv would just be too big in this room for its size.
So what do I lose by sticking with my Samsung tv maybe I can look into upgrading in future but not yet I only got it 2023.
              ….,,

In terms of setup: You want to plug the BD player into the soundbar, and then passthrough the video to the TV, so that the soundbar can decode the audio correctly.

              ….,.
I take it you mean by blu ray player 4K player I still call blu ray player and 4k player different but I don’t really need a blu ray player as the 4k does it as well but it’s good to have both.
So if we are talking about the 4k player then this goes into soundbar?
And then pass through the video to the tv I’m not sure what you mean here? Will the set up instructions not say how to set this all up or do I need to mix it up a bit?
              …..

What is the main source that you watch on? Is it from Blu-ray / 4k Blu-ray discs? Or is it Netflix/Disney+ streaming? That could help nailing down which setup is best.
              …….
I would say my main watching is Netflix/prime etc. but i really want to start getting into watching my large collection of blu rays and 4k movies.
And wanted that cinema sound feel again.

Obviously picture quality would be important but it sounds like I maybe not get as good as i should with this Panasonic tv I have, but will it be that bad? Will I be missing out on heaps? As you here many say how good quality a 4k picture was but then if you don’t have the right tv then you probably lose that.

But I think I’m right regardless what tv I use I get great sound still from this 930d.l correct?

So keeping the tcl where it is and still using my Samsung tv with 930d soundbar with what 4k player should I go with?

I now regret getting this Samsung tv now but picture looked nice in store and I was not clued up with specs and at time it was a tv for bedroom.

And until my 3d tv packs in i can’t see getting another tv soon for this room as I love 3d still and have a lot to watch of them still.
The only way i could is maybe sell my Samsung tv in next year or so and get some more suited with Dolby vision.

            • @BigRussian: I should have looked up differences ages ago on Dolby vision and hdr10 lol but as said was orginally for a bedroom.
Dolby Vision does have an edge by looking on vids on you tube explaining but it’s not so shit, but could have been better and I even found out that Samsung don’t even have vision on there tvs.

So I was just curious as I be keeping that tv for now anyway what player to to use with Samsung the Sony one as it seems to go better with the tv right?
And leave the Panasonic with the other tcl as I will be able to watch with the tcl and Panasonic as well.
And I will have the Samsung with the Sony 4K Bluray Player UBPX700.

Another thing that sucks I found out tv is only 60hz and having Xbox x would be better with 120hz.
But hey at least i should get some good sounds from the soundbar which what I was after im sure I can live with the missing Dolby vision and 60hz for use with Xbox.
In saying that not sure what my 3d tv was as I had that hooked up to same Xbox x and never had issues with it.

  • I have a Samsung 65" BU8000 Crystal LED UHD 4K Smart TV [2022 I got couple of years ago, also got a tcl same time.
I claimed Samsung tv this one for the cinema room well chill out room lol.
I have an older Sony soundbar with woofer probably had it since 2016 or 2017 still works but not getting anything much from it these days unless it’s cause I’m streaming and don’t work as good. Or not set up right.

I have a UBPX700 4k player I’m sure the better one is with the bigger tv a Panasonic DP-UB820 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ Support.

I’m what’s the go on these speakers sound bars? I hear a lot about Dolby vision sounds like to me similar what I had had years ago where sounds came from all over.

I noticed there is a link on this post to a previous deal in past and someone got stands for the rear speakers.
I just want to know what with my set up or items i mentioned above if I was to get these soundbars with rear speakers would i be wasting my time or major improvement.
It just be nice to hear and enjoy the more more with good sound etc.
And what’s the best price it’s been.
