Not a huge fan and normally steer clear of Kings branded products but have read some good reviews on this bit of kit in terms of value for money and overall build quality.

Was after a compressor and this one appears to fit the bill - keen to hear others' thoughts/opinions on this unit and the overall kit.

Couple other variants offered as well:

I have the compressor and it's great! Highly rate it and love it! Always in the back of the ute and its helped out the odd person. I wired mine to use an Anderson connection as well, rather than the croc clips.

But I HATE and DO NOT recommend the Multi Tyre Inflator. I don't know if it's just me, but I find it annoying and painful plus not accurate, but it could be me. I find it easier to go around tyre by tyre and do the pressure manually, its probably quicker as well. Definitely need the extra hose extension though, it's very handy.

I broke my original Kings Air Tool (bent the dial and couldn't show anything about 20 PSI) and replaced it with this one from Supercheap recently, and it's great.

The bag is good as well if you need it. I have it but don't use it now thats its always in the canopy of the ute.

Depending on your use case this product might be helpful plus the guage from supercheap

Thanks for sharing - reading more reviews now and it seems the multi tyre inflator is a bit gimmicky.

Might stick with the referenced case you mentioned - keep it simple with the air compressor unit, extension hose and the guage from supercheap.

      Cheers

Yeah, it is a bit and whilst you are connecting one tyre, it deflates the other tyre……. but again, could just be me…..

I find the simpler, the better and at least all tyres will be accurate.

The problem is that they have used cheap open air chucks. I cut them off and replaced them with 4 closed air chucks and it is now a great bit of kit.

I wired it to Anderson aswell but then realised it draws 70-110amp on start. Standard Anderson plugs are only rated to 50amp and I have my plugs fused with 50amp fuses, blew the fuse first time I used it. Gone back to croc clips.

Make sure you change those Anderson's to high capacity plugs, properly fused or go back to the croc clips.

      • I haven't blown my 50amp fuse…… So no issue thus far……

I'll have to do a current test to see what mine draws.

I think they're rated at 120a, the 50a rating is for hot disconnect

This compressor seems to have good reviews but for me the quality isn’t there and these guys can be difficult with returns. Buy a more reputable brand or have a backup in place if you're travelling remote and know your refund rights.

I've used one of these compressors, after inflating 4 tyres from 18PSI to ~36PSI, it failed, had a look inside, the solder had melted causing some wires to disconnect inside. Appeared the thermal overload cut off didn't kick in when it should have. When trying to get a refund/replacement they made it harder than they should have, had to mention Australian Consumer Law before they would fulfill their legal obligation.

This is exactly the type of feedback I was after, good to know.

Thankfully, not planning to do any remote touring, so it should be good enough for my use case (hitting Stockton Beach, NSW, every now and then and some light off road tracks).

    • That sounds like a lot of Kings/4WD Supastores earlier reviews if I recall. Most of them complained about the shit returns, refunds, warranties being honoured. Maybe they've reformed. I do know their car aux lighting prices have gone through the roof.It can't be tariffs aso I assume they have jumped on the bandwagon. I can see them heading south to store closures in the future as ppl finish getting the bling for their 4x4 and sufficient camping gear is bought. They have competition on many fronts. Lower prices seemed to be their only bait.

      • Lower prices seemed to be their only bait.

100%. Sometimes their pricing is almost on par with other competitors and those competitors are easier to deal with plus more local. However, whilst the pricing might be low, the postage can sometimes be a huge killer.

    • I've had mine about 18 months and it hasn't failed me. Its been great and use it all the time, I was only just using it last night for my wife's car.

Cannot complain. The only thing from Kings that I have had that appears to have failed is a Solar Blanket. Everything else has been rock solid including their DCDC Charger, I put that thing through the ringer and still going. Upgraded my system to Victron recently, so its now sitting on the shelf.
