Terrible graphics just FYI, may be worth going with a 7000 series AMD new laptop for around $600-700 if you need anything beyond business use and don't need a touch screen.

    • Thanks for the suggestion, do you have any links?
Would it be able to handle Valorant/Fortnite?

Looking for a laptop for my year 8 kid.

Not sure on any on sale currently but they pop up often, it'll handle valorant and fortnite quite well.

Handles League of Legends at 60FPS no issues, so I assume similar. Even the 5000 Ryzen's handle those at 60fps on lower settings, but that'd be about equal to this afaik

I had a MSI Modern 14 Inch FHD Laptop with a Ryzen 5-7530u and it handled League of Legends really well on medium-high, 60 fps. Paid around $600 from memory about 6 months back. Not sure if there's a CPU shortage currently, can't find many deals right now but they do pop up time-to-time.

        https://www.cashconverters.com.au/shop/phones-cameras-comput… I found this if pre-owned is what you're after still, $409 with a 7520u

    • Not sure where you're getting this. Especially with faster the soldered ram LPDDR4x ram, the integrated graphics in this is at least on par with any Vega based graphics.

The 7520U you recommended here is actually a rebranded zen 2 with a 610M, which is a really poor igpu (2 compute units vs the 12 you find in the 680M). 7530U at least has Vega 7 but hardware unboxed reviewed the 1165G7 when it came out and its graphics were well in front of the Vega igpus in Zen mobile.

The Xe graphics in these tiger lake chips is actually decent.

      • Yeah got that mixed up regarding the AMD CPUs. Best right now is probably the Lenovo slim 3 Gen 10 AMD with cashback, about $700 for a 780m : 8840hs after 20% cashback.

The intel xe is okay, but it’s not intel arc level, which is closer to a 780m.

AMD is confusing with CPU models lately tbh… or everyone is in all honesty. Mixing different architecture on the same model numbers.

  • Does the payment window keeps popping up for anyone else after a few secs? Unable to get rid of it.

  • touch screen, so glass, for me it’s not that i will use touch screen it’s that glass is harder to scratch than plastic and is easier to clean, like a screen protector but you don’t need to fit it.

    • are you sure it's glass older model Dell's are plastic touch screens

        Arrived, it's glass touch screen.

  • The "Additional information" link leads to info for a Lenovo laptop.

  • suitable as an HTPC paired with 4k screen ?

    • has HDMI port, so no need for USB-C dock.

  • Says this is a Lenovo ThinkPad X250 in the additional information section, can we trust a business that can't get the basic information right?

Arrived on Thursday, looks pristine to me, no wear on the touch pad or keyboard keys, no scratches unlike the ones we have at work. It's Dell 7420, yes it has touch screen with the glass, win 11 Pro, did a clean install and activation carried across to new install. Very impressed for $480. Think the relatives might want one when they see this as a few have older older laptops that won't upgrade to Win 11 without technical intervention.

  • Hi Op, looking to buy one, are you able to issue special code please?

    • l went to dell website and got for dell assistant to look at it and load latest drivers after clean install, seems dell care warranty expired late 2024 BUT it asked if i wanted to renew. i dont need dell care warranty extension for a $480 laptop, but if relatives want one it might be a way for me to avoid family based tech support. might be something for people worried about what happens after the Bufferstock 6 mths included warranty expires.
