Zlos Ekobox Power Station: 1240Wh 25.83V (100Ah 12V), 3 AC Outlets (1200W Max) $799 Shipped @ Harvey Norman

currently on clearance with "Bonus Delivery".
not sure of the quality or battery type but these power stations are usually $1 per Wh.

found it sold out on eBay for $699 from seller gizmaker_uk.
but around $1000 to $1150 everywhere else at the moment.

found more info on the BigW page about the battery which doesn't claim battery type but it says 80% capacity after 1000 cycles.
the Kings power packs also claim the same cycles, but 1000 cycles draining to 0% everytime (that's what 100% DOD means).

it has Anderson plug output, which some ozbers said is a must. also solar input for charging with panels. can charge with 400W AC in 3.5 to 5 hours.
it can do both 50hz and 60hz according to info, which I read/heard somewhere is important for some people.
USB-C out is only 65W + 20W.

noticed the solar charge input watts is showing inconsistent info.

spec says 400W max, but description (second last paragraph) says it's 200W solar input.

also I read you should really ignore the 2400W peak/surge number watts. it can only do it for a second before cutting out. you can power your lights and TV type appliances, but you can't power a hairdryer or heater or electric kettle.

    • ok my bad I copy pasted the paragraphs from BigW because that's the only place where it mentioned the 1000 cycles to 80%, which I thought meant the info was more complete/accurate.

but turns out the Harvey Norman page says 400W MPPT Solar input.

    Finally they are coming down!

  • Ok price per Wh but noticed a couple of things:

    • low cycle count, LiFePO4 is 3000+ cycles
    • no mention of UPS capabilities so might be too slow to switch in a blackout without a device losing power
    • no smart capabilities that I can see (wifi/bluetooth) so won't integrate well with HA for load shifting if you have that in mind
    • Kings power packs also claim 1000 cycles, but they say that's at 100% DOD (meaning drain to 0%, charge to 100% everytime). which is harder on the battery health apparently.
for example with lithium, charging from 30% to 80% twice, counts as 1 cycle, and it's easier on the battery health.

anyway can't say for sure what batteries are inside the Ekobox but that's what I'm thinking anyway just a difference in stating spec.

also I watched a bunch of videos on these power stations from all different countries and seems like it will be good for bargainers to keep an eye out on the brand Aferiy. apparently on sale they are half the prices of Ecoflow with great spec almost equalling them of 3000+ cycles, UPS function, 7 year warranty.

I searched but the brand hasn't come to Australia yet.

      • Hadn't heard of Aferiy until now, took a quick look… their designs are certainly "inspired" ever so slightly by one or two brands which come to mind.

Have to say if I was after what's essentially a dumb power starion I'd probably go with a VTOMAN, a bit cheaper with higher capacity. I wish they had wifi or bluetooth :(

        • just a fyi. one of the reviews I saw for a Aferiy didn't mention an app, but had a turnable dial on the front instead to control how fast it charges.

also remember reading a comment somewhere, they said they got one of their models with WiFi but tried everything and couldn't get it to connect so they just gave up the idea of using an app and did all the settings manually like with the buttons and dials I assume.

so maybe they won't be as appealing to you if you need smart home stuff.

        • hey Ricktheroller.

I noticed something not sure if it was what you were talking about "one or two other brands".

but I was searching for Aferiy again, and noticed one of their newer models looks exactly like the "Kickass" LifePO4 power station.

appearance of design, ports location, light location, everything is the same except the printed logo. look at Aferiy P210, and Kickass Kickcharge 2400 (and it's not cheap).

so what I'm sure happened here, is an Australian distributor has made an exclusive deal to sell Aferiy products (or just some of their products - also Kickcharge 700/1200 do not look like Aferiy products) in Australia, and they control the branding and selling so they can control the price (I can't find the Kickcharge 2400 sold anywhere else but their official AU website). or it's not a distributor at all and Aferiy just rebranded their product in AU to sell at higher prices.

this kind of thing happens a lot with good chinese products.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I was thinking more along the lines of EcoFlow and Bluetti, this looks like the design of the two brands merged into one!

            • @Ricktheroller: oh ok. have a google image search in seperate tabs of "Aferiy P210", and "Kickass Kickcharge 2400".

              they look identical.
