    this is actually really good

  • Great find!

The $4250 RRP is a complete load of crap. This battery/inverter combo priced even at $1499 is still pretty high for what you're getting.

It may be a nice pretty package, but there's better off-grid options out there for the price.

    Only 120Ah.
    Only rated for 2000 cycles.
The 3000w inverter spec sounds impressive, but it'll drain that 120Ah battery far too quickly to be useful.

Shop around. You could get a 140Ah (or more) LiFePO4 battery in a battery box, and a quality external pure sine inverter for a similar (or even cheaper price).
$4250 is a joke. $2500 is rip off. And $1500 is overpriced, but getting close to fairer actual market value.

    There's no bargain here.

It is 120Ah for 25.6V (nominal). So it is equivalent to 240Ah for 12V.

@ufo Mate RRP is BS, I agree.

But you would struggle to put together a system like this for less then 1000k and the I'm sure it would be a lot less compact and less integrated like this.

      Back of the envelope
      240ah - 5\600
DC to DC with mppt - 200
      3000w inverter - 300
      Box - 100
      Wiring - 50

While you're basically correct this is a decent deal on the plug and play way to do it for normies who don't want to give themselves an electricals 101 education.

      • @Sleepycat Step down converter? I see hn got one on sale for $27. 200w.

    • +1

It's also cheaper to make a quality burger at home, yet people still flock to McDonald's for some bizarre reason.

    • @gtech, Sleepycat3, mayo, and topherboi

I completely agree with everything you all said.
But $1500 "discounted" from $4250 (cough cough bullcrap), is not a bargain.

If someone was looking for a $1500 power supply, would you seriously tick the above deal as a legitimate bargain and worthy of plus votes?

And to topherboi, yes mate… people still go to Macca's instead of making it home, but is that because it's a bargain?
I haven't heard Macca's being described as a bargain for a long time.

I get there's apathy tax to be paid, but $1500 goes a long way to building a modular power supply with quality components… that if one day one of them goes bang, you can easily replace with something else. This magical all inclusive black shiny box will be a boat anchor if that happens. And what components is it using inside?

All I'm saying is for people to consider their options.

Finally got the right power bank for my iPhone 17.

btw is this brand any good?

Can you take this as hand luggage on planes?

    • +1

Yes, because lithium cant go in the hold.. :)

    • Dont be silly.

And in case you're serious: first conduct a simple google query.

To save your time, the answer is: hell no.

      • It's 34kgs.
I guess your sarcasm detector wasn't switched on.

  • This is interesting if it can output 100V. Can anyone confirm if this VoltX can output 100W? I'd buy that just to be able to power my weird and wonderful appliances from Japan!

    • only 240 v. the usb can do 100w

  • Does it have CCC certification

  • Almost half the price of tesla Powerwall 3 expansion packs if you calculate kWh . Wonder why

    • +1

Pw3 can do 10kw output. Unlimited cycles for 10 years, guaranteed I think 70%. Completely different ball game.

      • It's not unlimited cycles if you are using vpp.

  • Can this be taken on a plane asking for friend

    • Unless ur friend is the pilot 🍻

i bought 2 of these from bunnings at 1699 ea. theyre ok for the product. you cant connect it to the distribution box, has only 1 mppt if you want to do solar, can only do 1 charging option at a time (ie if youre charging off of the grid and connect solar, grid charging will stop, etc), only charges max 850 w per hour off mains, cant do mains pass through, and cant connect them into series/parallel to make a higher voltage or higher capacity bank.

i do have ovo as my electricity retailer so i charge these up either during the free 3 hours or the overnight off peak. i use one in the office as my default ups running my two computers and router, and another one in the bedroom for my infrared panel heater

    • That’s probably why it is on lower price tier compared to BLUETTI or Ecoflow stuff

      • +1

ecoflow and bluetti are way overpriced, but yeah, i agree. i was scouring the web for ecoflow stream ac or stream ultra but its not sold in aus, unfortunately. this does its job, for whats its worth. cant complain

    • I've checked ovo's website about the free 3 plan and it doesn't say anything about off peak rate? Outside the 3 free hours it's the same 38c/kWh?

  • +2

perfect to take to work and charge everyday

    • Do people actually do that?

      • well i have a similar sized voltx unit and def dont take it into work cos its a bit big! :)

    • Was tempted to tell my staff about this and offer they could bring it to work and charge it. I'm generating more solar than we need even after charging my 40kWh office battery
