    IT guy here… Wifi meaning Wireless Fidelity is not actually correct (though a common belief, and GadgetGuy may think it is, so I'd say that's the expected answer… he's been wrong about similar things in the past, which I always find annoying).

    Wi-fi is simply a catchy-sounding name trademarked by Interbrand; it was inspired by 'hi fi' to imply reliability; it doesn't actually mean anything.
