SHE/HER loves shopping at Office Works.. duh! 🙄

  • Thanks OP.

  • Meh, Coles had these for 10% off already.

Give us the prepaid card deals already!

    • How do you get the 10%????

  • I wonder if this works with the special Woolworths debit card? instore it shows up as "Store Card".

  • Yes it does. I will be going that again myself.

  • Prepaid eftpos are not coming back are they? :(

  • can you use the TCN her gift card at jbhifi to buy an iphone?

    • +1

It depends on how you want to shop at JB Hi-Fi and the type of gift cards you have.

      In-store

My understanding is that there is no payment card redemption limit in their checkouts. Someone once redeemed 99 TCN gift cards in one transaction. Staff almost always allow split payments, but this will still be at the discretion of the staff member serving you, so if the staff member is having a bad day and gets cranky at you for wanting to redeem a handful of TCN gift cards at a busy time at the store and refuses your request, you are kinda stuck.

Having said that, the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy states you cannot redeem TCN gift cards (or JB Hi-Fi gift cards) at their Sydney International Airport store or Gold Coast Airport store. (I suspect this is due to these stores being located in the duty-free area.)

      Online at jbhifi.com.au

The TCN Her gift cards in this deal cannot be directly redeemed on the JB Hi-Fi website, as those are eftpos-only gift cards that do not support online transactions.

However, the easiest workaround for this situation is to go to the TCN gift card website (linked in the deal description) and exchange a TCN gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card. There is no known limit to the number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards that can be redeemed in one online transaction. Someone once redeemed 51 JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one online transaction.

As an aside, if you ask for a JB deal over the phone or live chat, the text message you get with your special checkout page may say that you cannot redeem any third-party gift cards and only a maximum of ten JB Hi-Fi gift cards. I suspect this limit is actually not enforced through…

Other JB Hi-Fi websites (e.g. JB Hi-Fi Commercial, JB Hi-Fi Education, JB Hi-Fi Business, JB Hi-Fi Solutions)

The TCN Her gift cards in this deal cannot be directly redeemed on these JB Hi-Fi websites (for the same reason as above).

JB Hi-Fi gift cards cannot be redeemed on these JB Hi-Fi websites, as these websites do not accept them as a payment method. Additionally, the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy says:

      1. Gift Cards are not redeemable for goods purchased from JB Hi-Fi Business and JB Hi-Fi Education (including goods purchased from JB Hi-Fi Business and JB Hi-Fi Education websites, BYOD Portals and Corporate Benefits Portals).
      • Unfortunately the TCN HER gift cards from this deal cannot be swapped with JB HIFI gift cards.
The TCN swap portal does not allow and the customer support also mentioned that these cards do not support jb hifi swap.

        • There is a long-running issue where the TCN website will sometimes give you an error message when you attempt an exchange for a participating retailer available on your TCN gift card. If you register your gift card first on the TCN website and then re-attempt an exchange, the exchange should work.

If TCN customer support insisted to you that the TCN Her gift card does not include JB Hi-Fi, did you ask them the reason the TCN Her gift card webpage lists JB Hi-Fi as a participating retailer? The reason I ask that question is that if you have a look at the TCN gift card terms and conditions, it says the following:

          1. This Card is an eftpos prepaid gift card that can be used for electronic transactions, to purchase goods and services at participating retailers listed on The Card Network website.

In other words, the table in the deal description and the advice I have been dishing out here in the comments is all in line with the TCN gift card terms and conditions.

        • Wookiemonster's comment is correct. I managed to swap $2000 to JB-Hifi gift cards yesterday. You need to first register the card on TCN then attempt the swap again.

  • anyone tried using TCN Restaurant to buy Restaurant Choice in Shopback?

  • First time using a restaurant gift card so not too sure. If it says EFTPOS or Mastercard, I’m guessing I just need to add it to Apple Pay and then make sure to choose Mastercard when paying, and it should work? Thinking of using it at Macca’s.

    • +2

The TCN Restaurant gift card in this deal is a physical gift card that runs on the eftpos network, and it cannot be directly added to any mobile wallets (e.g. Apple Pay).

If you want to add the TCN Restaurant gift card to a mobile wallet, you need to go to the website for TCN Restaurant gift cards (and you can find a link to this in the deal description's table) and request to exchange your physical gift card for the digital Mastercard version. The instructions for doing this can be found in the FAQ page linked at the bottom of the deal description. The Mastercard version will be available through the TCN app, from where you can add it to Apple Pay, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet.

Also, in your case, you will need to convert your physical eftpos version to the digital Mastercard version before you can use it at Maccas. The terms and conditions of the TCN Restaurant gift card states it cannot be used at any merchants categorised as Fast Food Restaurants (which includes Maccas). However, in reality, transactions at Fast Food Restaurants are blocked on the physical eftpos version, but they appear to be still working on the digital Mastercard version.

        Thanks

  • I wonder if we can use the TCN restaurant to purchase crown gift cards? Has anyone tried it?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904392

    • I doubt you can. MCC for Crown GC website is 5999.

  • TCN Restaurant variable eligible for this promotion? Went to my local Woolworths just now, only $50 and $100 denominations are available.

    • +1

The terms and conditions is badly worded.

I think the terms and conditions is trying to say the following have a 2 card purchase limit per day per Rewards account:

      • TCN Restaurant (any denomination)
      • TCN Deluxe Variable ($20-$500)

I have never seen a physical variable load TCN Restaurant gift card sold anywhere, including when I visited a Woolworths this morning.

        Thanks for the info

      • @WookieMonster

you mention on this particular comment that certain GC are blocked by WW…how does it know it's a choice GC? Isn't it just a Visa card locked to certain MCCs? Does WW checkout have a feature that says if it's a card locked to certain MCCs, then block it from purchasing GC?

More specifically can I use the Choice Grocery to buy TCN Restaurant card?

        • +1

how does it know it's a choice GC?

The card BIN (bank identification number). The first 6-8 numbers of a card number identifies the financial institution that issued the card, and Category Choice gift cards stored on a mobile wallet appear to use a BIN that is also used by some Activ Visa gift cards stored on a mobile wallet. Woolworths' checkouts can check the BIN for a card as soon as you as you swipe, insert or tap it, and they set up their checkouts in mid-2022 to block Activ Visa gift cards as a payment method for some gift cards (e.g. WISH gift cards, Activ Visa gift cards, Perfect eftpos gift cards), and this was presumably done in consultation with Blackhawk Network.

More specifically can I use the Choice Grocery to buy TCN Restaurant card?

The checkouts should let you do that.

Does TCN Her have JB Hi-Fi?

I went to the store earlier and checked the card and it doesn't have JB Hi-Fi on it.

    • +2

Does TCN Her have JB Hi-Fi?

      Yes.

If you go to the TCN Her gift card webpage, it shows the JB Hi-Fi logo. That webpage is the data source for the list of participating retailers shown in the deal description.

I went to the store earlier and checked the card and it doesn't have JB Hi-Fi on it.

The source of truth for participating retailer is the TCN website, not the gift card packaging.

The TCN Her gift card terms and conditions state under clause 2:

      2. This Card is an eftpos prepaid gift card that can be used for electronic transactions, to purchase goods and services at participating retailers listed on The Card Network website.

The terms and conditions does not say anything about the gift card packaging being the source of truth. (If you think about it, it also means that if a participating retailer stops accepting TCN Her gift cards and their logo still appears on the TCN Her gift card packaging, you cannot use it at that participating retailer.)

It sounds like you saw TCN Her gift cards that were manufactured before JB Hi-Fi was added as a participating retailer. TCN gift cards are manufactured in batches across different dates, and participating retailers can be added or removed in-between these dates. Additionally, it takes time from when gift cards are manufactured to when they are put on a gift card display at Woolworths.

Damn! Why did I believe you. I bought the cards and it says your card cannot swap with this voicher.

        • +2

Have you registered your gift cards? If not, try that first, then attempt the exchange again.

        • +1

I swapped my TCN Her gift card for a JB Hi-Fi one, and it went through fine.

          • @mhcw: Does your TCN her gift card packaging have JB logo on it?
If yes then you can, if not tough luck.

it did not work for me and I was informed by customer support the same thing.

  • anyone having issue converting restaurant to digital, bought 2 days ago and trying to register them it says registration failed and trying go digital says please check your Card Number and try again

    • nvm when I was trying to register was putting in an extra 2 and didnt notice

  • I got $20 off in my app but not triggering at checkout when I have a shop over $10… tried both in bws and Woolworths, anyone experience this and do I need to call Woolworths about this

    • Everyday Rewards dollars can't be used for gift card purchases. If you buy over $10 groceries with the gift cards, then their system will ask if you want to use your $10 Everyday Rewards dollars off the groceries.

      • No I mean I got $20 off buying the gift cards but did not trigger a prompt to take money off during normal purchase both in bws and Woolies

  • Checkout team member and manager has no clue at all about promo and I ended up buying 3 of restaurant choice cards.

It showed me 4000 points only and when I questioned they said you have to chase it up with team later and went through the transaction.

Limit of Restaurant is 2 !

  • Good score today. Grabbed 26x Her $100 cards from a single store, allowed, across my rewards cards, my mum and grandmother. Halfway to the TV from JB in one go.
