I'm very confused around these gift cards that are in sale at a % discount on various site
Simply Groceries & Woolworths - 4% off - seem to cater to the same things. Can be used online and instore in Woolworths
Essentials - 4% off - seems to be useful for Woolworths, EG Ampol and Big W (online and instore) >>> Seems to be better than Simply Groceries and Woolworths since it gives more flexibility in exchange for lower discount (Big W GC is 5% off, but only useable in Big W)
EG Ampol GC - 3% off - only for use in EG Ampol - Unclear what the target market is for this? Why would you take this at a lower discount when Essentials GC is more % off and also can be used in Woolworths? (Off course Ampol GCs regularly go on sale for 6% off in Shopback, but that is a different story)
Can somebody explain why WW has so many different options which seems to overlap the places you can spend?
If you have a look at the gift card terms and conditions, there are some minor differences with the products you can purchase using these gift cards:
The more important difference used to be that Simply Groceries and Essentials gift cards did not support online transactions at Woolworths and BIG W, but that changed around 2-3 years ago, so that no longer matters.
The one difference to be aware of is that at least one discount offer at EG Ampol (Rest Super) says in its terms and conditions that you cannot use it in conjunction with the redemption of AmpolCash gift cards. I have no idea whether EG Ampol’s checkouts enforce this restriction. On the other hand, the redemption of EG, Essentials and (Everyday) WISH gift cards are not mentioned as an exclusion in any fuel discount offer at EG Ampol.
Additionally, this person previously had an issue where the EG Ampol checkout rejected their AmpolCash gift card after scanning an Everyday Rewards card (with a digital fuel voucher) and the RACV discount offer.
