Cheap, Corded Home Vacuum for Small Apartment

Hi all,

I'm after recommendations for a corded, low profile/size vacuum cleaner. I have had a Xiaomi cordless vacuum cleaner but it really struggles now. I bought an inexpensive robotic vacuum which generally cleans the floors before mopping, but I don't have something to vacuum nooks and crannies or clean the car. The other thing is I am trying to rent out my room to make ends meet, so need something strong enough to do vacuum clothes/blankets bags, which the Xiaomi couldn't do.

Grateful for any recommendations.

  • How cheap are you looking for? $30 Kmart or a $200 average stick?

  • people seem to like the eureka mighty mite, but I havent personally used it. But it seems to fit what you want, albeit that unless you want to pay over $300/400 you wont get a 'top' vacuum cleaner (Miele, Henry etc)

    • We've had the bigw equivalent for a couple of years, it performs well if not great. The skinny nozzle is helpful for shallow nooks, but won't reach down side of fridge
      .

  • +2

Is your cordless stuggling becasue the battery is dead, or woukd a good filter clean make a difference?

I recently thought my (inherited) dyspn was stuffed, but the head was just blocked. Cleaned it out and good as gold.

  • Buy a miele, it will be be like new even 15 years later

    • Three choices -

      Miele

      Miele

      or Miele

  • Kmart $30 vac and then in 12 to 18 months later another one.

Be aware that the HEPA filter clogs and will need washing after every clean or 2nd clean. The vac will also need an extension cord.

The advantage is it is cheap. The biggest disadvantage ism it for drop it the small plastic strip that is used to secure the two parts together will break. Saying that all cheap ones have some flaw….

  • Sounds like you need a canister vacuum. Budget? And what's your preference? Bagged or bagless?
