Recent Experience of US Freight Forwarding to Australia

Hi, I would like to have recommendations for a reliable and legitimate US Freight Forwarding company that anyone has used recently.

From scrolling through posts, it appears that Shipito is the most favoured. Has anyone used any others like ComGateway, MyUS? The item is a Macbook Air.

Thanks in advance.

I use MyUS for camping gear every few months and never had an issue with them.

    Hi,

I have used Shipito in the past because it allows you to forward purchases to a Tax-Free State (like Oregon) before they forward it to Australia.

Currently for your hard earned $AUD you only receive about $USD64 and with our Australian Dollar at all time lows and with Shipito also imposing our GST (at their end) I can't see it as being viable.

Also, some companies will not forward to "known" reshipping addresses and you have to hope they accept your Credit Card because some discriminate based on your location.

Unless you have funds already in $USD that you want to use, I'd suggest you buy local from JB HiFi or Apple (Education) if eligible.

If you are really keen to spin the wheel, have a look at the prices/deals on https://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?q=MacBook+Air&searchare… but note the where it says free shipping, that is within the USA.

It could be viable on an Open Box or Refurb, but be wary of Warranty and how old the unit is and what OS it will run on going forward.

I used ComGateWay I think it was to get my Nvidia Titan Xp day 1 for $1600 shipped. Introduction of GST has made it not worth it anymore.

I can't imagine a circumstance where this is cost effective, but that doesn't mean op didn't find bargain of the year with only US shipping.

MyUS is good and fast, but don't give you any control on the unpaid plans so expect it to be expensive.

I haven't used shipit.to for years, but they were fine, but also costly.

Basically, the reshippers are only useful for unique items unavailable elsewhere like collectables, not to arbitrage pricing between the US and AU.

Hopefully you've found an amazing deal to make it worth it!

I've used Shipito plenty of times in the past, they were fine, but given the AUD/USD these days it's going to be pretty expensive to get it shipped.

I don't think there's a good way to get cheap shipping from US to here, your cheapest option in the realms of possibilities would be finding someone trusted travelling to the US and asking them to bring it back in exchange for a bottle of their chosen beverage.

Ship7 do not add the 10% GST

  • Thanks so much, everyone, all the useful info. You've given me plenty of leads to follow:). Have a great evening.

  • I used to use PriceUSA back in the day and i think they folded in 2018 or around then. Then then.. I was only buying parts or books that never got an Australia release
