Massage Therapist Price Getting to Expensive

Over 10 years ago I had a motor vehicle accident with my low spine have multiple fusions, there forth I have been going to remedial massage therapist for last decade, but price have moved from $80 now $150 and will be going up again soon.

Does anyone know any well know rep places which have better pricing? I'm hesitant using Groupon as they generally having bad service due to the incredibly low pricing. Only thing I can do is having health find but that doesn't help much.

Doesn't sound like a happy ending to me.

    $80 now $150

Inflation alone, over those 10 years, is probably $35.

      Price increase is intense. Cheers.

      Maybe 150 is includes extras…

    • Can I at least claim on me healthcare extras cover

    • Rents for the employees homes and the business location have gone up above inflation too.

    • Mate happy happy ending cost more lol.

        It actually doesn't.

        Soruce: my "mate".

        • Depends how attractive you are.

  • Try the ones on shopping centres like westfield. Still 80 per hour here in Sydney. (Used to be 55)

  • Try solo working mobile masseurs. They drive or catch the bus or train or by foot and come to you with a guitar size box all in all.

    • In some countries those people are blind as well.

Remember seeing a “blind massage” at a market when we were in Manila. Saw one of them looking at his watch

Have you looked at seeing a physio as well?

    • Having seeked different physio as well, they mainly focus on stretch activities and target weak spots but have limitations., due to my nature of work having to stand alot, my hamstrings and bottom lower muscles feels like they are deteriorating and all linked to my spine issues.

issue with very cheap injury/remedy massages are almost same like Thai massage which are like a plague, they treat everyone like same object with our understanding the atomony and could leave you at times causing more damage, Perhaps like Mentioned before you get for what you pay.

    • Same therapist moved around with same therapist for 12 years, I'm currently seeing movement 101, they have a chain $150 soon be 180 😭

Blame the NDIS. They will pay whatever providers ask, so rates are jacked up.

Granted it's an entirely different set of circumstances, but my dad broke his back 40 odd years ago and has had issues ever since. He reckons the best thing for his back has been improving his core strength which then flows onto various other body parts.

  • Depending on where in Sydney you're located, I can give you a recommendation if you're in South West/Campbelltown area. I have regular remedial massages and for a 1hr session it's $100.

  • Have you tried self-massage? You can get firm massage balls like a lacrosse ball. Place the ball between your back and wall/door, find the muscle you wish to massage/release, and lean against the ball or move your body back and forth to roll the muscle over the ball. You can get quite good at it over time, and may even be able to target specific muscles better than a random masseur/masseuse could. I massage the muscles either side of my spine, upper shoulder, and rotator cuff this way.

There are also tools/balls to put on the floor and lie on them, rolling over them to massage your back.

    • Issue not my backanymore, it has gone to my legs, and knees, alot of nerve damage seems to have taken place there.

Self stretching seems to have its limits therefore need messages to be taken. Pulling evey ounce of muscle I have left and doesn't benefit much. with one hour after soreness/ discomfort continues, also our body ages quite poorly with this, can't wait till I hit 50.

  • why didnt you claim it on ctp?
you can get 5 physio sessions from your gp each year

private insurance can partially cover remedial massage and physio and myotherapy
Hydro therapy may help as well. Some insurances cover some of that.

  • most of the legit places on King Street Newtown are <$80 before 3.00pm. Whether or not they have the level of knowledge you require is another question.
