Need to Find a TV Cabinet than Can Hold big TV

This is less of "find me a bargain", and more of a "where would I find"…..

I need two tv cabinets that can hold 100kg 62kg (one white, one black) and is at least 2.3m long

I've been looking online but most don't specify the maximum weight and look like cheap MDF that would crumble.

I would really appreciate any suggestions on where to look.

Thank you :)

EDIT: when we were looking at the TV, the salesperson said it weighed 92kg and I took his word for it. Upon checking the specs, it weighs 63kg - this makes the search easier, but it has to be 2.3m long (at least)

You need cabinets made of solid Australian hardwood. It won't be cheap. It would also be criminal to paint them.

    • I agree - I have been told that the colour is a "nice to have" rather than a necessity.

Right now, it just needs to hold a fat-ass tv.

  • Can't help you with the cabinet, although it just makes me think that maybe I'm not alone… We still have our 15 year old, 65" Plasma that probably weighs about 5,000kg, sitting on our cabinet. Overdue for a shiny new upgrade, but it just won't die and isn't worth anything 2nd hand…😅

We have a smaller 60" plasma. Also won't die. Great picture. Weighs only 4000kg, so light compared to your beast.

      • I went with a 42” plasma, because it was free, it only weighs 200kg. Glad I didn’t get a big boy plasma.

      • we have a 55" plasma that is wall mounted, and i'm surprised it hasn't pulled down the entire wall

My 18 year old pioneer plasma still going strong.

      • my 42" panasonic plamsa still in service. has burnt-in lines and menu. But still works nicely.

    • my 12year old 55" plasma still going strong and weighs only 3000kg :)

    Ask a Cabinetmaker.

      That's….expensive.
We will also look around the op shops and hope for the best.

100KG is a tough ask, I have a Tauris Titan 2100 and the specs say it supports up to 65KG's. You'd probably have to have something custom made.

    • fish tank stands hold 100s kgs and they're usually just mdf.

That scares me a little, but I doubt there would be a lowline version. It's a good idea and I will check either way :)

    • Turns out 65kg is in the weight range. Just need to find one about >2.3m long

      • Longer than 2.3m, oof. When I was looking originally, the Titan 2100 was the largest, most solidly made one I could find.

As long as the supports aren't too far apart, you can stand on tv cabinets, even if they are terrible MDF.

I will never hear the end of it if it collapses :(

Need to find a TV cabinet than can hold 100kg

    100kg of what ?

    • +2

      fat

That should be much easier than finding one that can hold 100kg of cotton wool.

I am honoured that you showed up to my thread! It's 100kg worth of television :)

    • That is gorgeous but too short (I have updated the post).

  • Sounds like you might be better off getting a "cheap" cabinet and then laying a top over it that can hold the 100kg TV.
Or…. Do the sums and maybe it turns out cheaper to toss the old heavy tv, and use a lightweight TV and cabinet.

    • It's a brand new TV - the sales guy said it was 92kg and I didn't check…. It's actually 63kg. I have edited my post.

    • I considered putting a top on the top but I wouldn't know what I was doing (especially since it's for someone else's house)

Edit: I think I will end up doing this because my patience is shortening by the hour. If the other person agrees.
