Worth Having Shopping Bag Fixed?

I have a blackTypo shopping bag,it has A smiley company brand on it, got it a few years back. search all over the internet couldn't find anywhere selling this.

The bag stitching has come to ruin after excessive daily use but really love this bag as it was given to me as a gift, just don't know what fabrics it is made or of could even nylon? I managed to self stitch corners "bad stitching" also the handles have split multiple breaks.

Question is if it is worth taking to Taylor to have it fixed and also if this material is something that can be altered in some way so it can be functional again. I did. Just ordered a sea summit shopping bag for $40 from Amazon and nothing as good as this, only maybe in durability that is all.

Is the most ozbaragin way to do this if I'm correct?!

it will probably cost you around $30-50 to have it stiched properly
you will have to find a bag repair place or alterations place that deals with leather.

So it depends what your more attached to, the bag or the $50.

Maybe a Tailor could advice 🤔

If there's sufficient sentimental attachment then yes if you believe so, otherwise no way. You can buy reusable totes for around $2 so you could by 20+ of those for the cost of the repair.

I found one of those old fashioned "single-use" plastic shopping bags in the pantry the other day. The handle on it ripped from having been used so many times. I just tied it back together. Good as new.

It depends what you use it for.

We have many reusable shopping bags - canvas, jute, harder plastic, etc. Eventually the handles will fray. We buy and carry heavy groceries to the car so this is expected. The good news for us is that many people give away new(ish) bags like this, which look great and are functional, so unless you can mend it on the cheap, perhaps look elsewhere for another.

Personally I wouldn't mend or use your shopping bag as mine need to be able to carry 10kgs, etc. But that is for my use. I wouldn't want a watermelon to splay all over the ground just as I reach the boot of the car.

Turn it into a balaclava and sell in on Melbourne GTree.

I clicked on the first picture and thought it was the remnants of an S&M night.

Just remove your red stitching, and stitch again with black thread. Sewing is not quantum physics, anyone can do it with patience and care.

And you'll be proud of yourself afterwards too.

You might get it fixed but it won't happen quickly. The Taylor isn't swift.
