Rubbish TV – This TV was purchased 6 weeks ago from Big W. The price paid was $329.00. The sound keeps dropping out and the picture is not as good as our old 14 year old TV. The remote control is very slow to respond. I do not recommend this TV. In fact, I am going to take it back to Big W.

Its rubbish do not buy it !!!!!! – Purchased recently from Bigw and thought I was getting the same as the 32 JVC I was replacing which was excellant and adequate for a bedroom. The new Android version is rubbish, audio quality is poor, the TV guide almost unreadable and not customisable and the remote is very very poor quality and just not logical. I would not reccomend it and have considerd taking the loss and buying another brand just 2 weeks after buying the JVC.

Audio is crap! – Although the picture itself is of good quality, I could not say the same for the audio. Transistor radio quality is possibly the most polite way I can put it. I ended up buying a sound bar to supplement the fairly bad audio. Amazingly I found out only a few days later that the business I bought from was doing the same (silly me!!!!)

            Garbage
It's so terrible I'm going to try to return it. Extremely slow. Unresponsive remote. Sound sometimes goes silent when it's not muted. It ignores my settings (contrast and sharpening etc) and returns to the default when I turn it off. Keeps defaulting to composite input no matter how many times I change it to antenna. Goes black all the time with about a 40 second delay. I could go on… it's garbage.

  • From reading the comments, is JVC just a bad brand for TVs all around these days?

Is TCL or Hisense any better? If so, which is generally better quality?

    • +4

TCL and Hisense wipe the floor with these. And in my opinion, and most others, TCL is better than Hisense.

Unlikely find them at this price, but their quality and ability / level of tech is far above.

    • +1

TCL and Hisense are serious brands, basically the Chinese version of LG and Samsung.

    • +1

TCL is a lot better. TCL's budget brand Ffalcon is more aligned with this.

I bought one of these last week as an alfresco TV despite the reviews. Seems fine to me as a secondary TV. Audio quality, performance and picture quality are all decent for the price.

i bought a few things with bad reviews… and it's fine..

I have a TV very similar to this and cannot fault. It runs 5am to 8pm every day mainly for FTA TV and its great. Its my office TV. I use it occasionally for Chromecast like the V8s or a YouTube Stream, but I cannot fault it…. yeah it is a little slow, but it isn't for your main TV use.

It's for a garage, kids room, small office, reception area and where you want something cheap.

  • just wait for soniq, they usually sell 50 and 55 inch tv for under $300

    • But not available to all locations.

Just to share, I bought a JVC 32" Edgeless HD LED Android TV from Big W last Nov during one of their big sales. Initial RRP price was $250+ I believe & it came down to $149. Using my Everyday Rewards 10% monthly discount & paying using Big W gift card (which I bought via a Shopback 10% cashback promo
previously), this brought the nett price down even further.

My point is before buying, I checked online & there were so many bad reviews on JVC tvs & I do not dispute there are clearly other brands out there which are superior but way way pricier. Nevertheless I gave it a punt & 5 months+ later I couldn't be more thrilled & satisfied with my purchase.

Reviews are always useful as a guide but they need to be taken within context. Most satisfied buyers rarely take the initiative to go online to give positive reviews. On flip side more dissatisfied customer are likely to unleash fire & brimstone online thus distorting the percentage of bad reviews against all reviews. So DYOR & weigh all the pros and cons (risk) before deciding.
