I Just signed up via a old deal from 2021 it gave me $1 in mixed crypto before deposit once i verified my id and made a deposit instantly got $10 worth of crypto

They treat as if you had bought the crypto as an investment. Your cost base being $0 means it’s all a capital gain when you sell.
Strange how they do this without publishing any guidance. Especially when there are posts made by ATO agents on their forum saying the cost base is the price you receive it at
If you transfer the btc to your main wallet it doesnt trigger a CGT
Just a word to the wise… declare this in your tax return. ATO is now up my ass for previous years. Makes it not worth the effort imo
