Just my two cents - I bought this one for Fifo about 2 years ago (~$150), in the grey, it's honestly been great. I looked at several options in the price range, this one seemed to strike the perfect balance between quality and weight, and was among the cheapest. It's a great buy at this price, in my opinion.

    • Thanks for the feedback.
Do you recommend darker colour or stay with Grey?

      • +1

The grey was the only colour available locally for me when I got mine, go with whatever colour floats your boat. :)

        • Thanks

This does not have 360 degree wheels which is a big no

    • +1

This is a great callout. Bags with 4 x 360-degree wheels are the way to go. Much better than the bags that you have to pull.

      • +1

In my opinion 360 degree wheels makes the bag easier to topple, so 2 wheels are better

      • +2

You don't need 360 wheels on tiny cabin bags. But still, this is a OK deal.

    • +4

It doesn't for a reason, 360 degree wheels (aka 4 multi-directional wheels underneath), are a pain for carry-on, they take up more room and get caught on things.

2 wheeled bags are like that for a reason, get what suits you. But to say they are a big no, sounds like a personal preference.

    • +2

I think it depends on what you are using it for. If you're going to be using it on uneven cobblestone streets, like in Europe, then I think 2 wheels are the way to go. On flat surfaces, 4 wheels are more convenient. Two wheeled luggages are also a bit more space efficient as the wheels are recessed.

  • Warranty: 10 Year

That's only the cover on manufacturing defects, not anything that was caused by you or the airline :)

    • I dont think any manufacturer will cover damages caused by airline / customer mishadling.

      • Briggs and Riley will, I see their equivalent bag is on sale for 20% off currently at $695 AUD

        https://www.briggs-riley.com/products/carry-on-expandable-sp…

I prefer the baseline model though

        • You could buy three of these LOL

I probably fly around 5+ times a year, bags get cut, bruised and snapped, still I could use it for around 5+ years. Based on that, these bags do their job.

          • @boomramada: Yeah, Briggs and Riley is a bit of a luxury purchase and it's buy it for life. I have had one for 10+ years and sent it away for repairs a couple times. I also used to travel heavily for work and have racked up hundreds of flights with it.

My wife doesn't travel much at all and I'm considering buying one of these American tourister bags for her, as they seem good enough for the price.

            • @Jerruh: I wouldn't call it luxury, and it's 3.4 kg

              • -1

@boomramada: Others would, it's frequently cross shopped with Tumi but has a better warranty (which is why I posted it, not to suggest you buy it). Yes it is heavier, most frequent flyers don't have to worry about the weight of their luggage. Probably not best for a VBIT like I said

If you want to buy directly from AT, it's $117 delivered with 8% (~$9.36) cashback from CR and SB.

And to echo comments above, we have a 55cm 4E and it's a great carry-on. Suggest darker colours than our grey/red…

  • Just buy Tosca So Lite 3.0. Possible to get it $90 with cashback on Mydeal etc, slightly bigger but much more volume inside and also support Australia. I've used it over several trips and quality is solid.

    • But it is on the heavier side.
You can tuck in addtional shirt with 1.9 kg carry on vs 2.2 kg carry on

      • You can tuck in addtional shirt with 1.9 kg carry on vs 2.2 kg carry on

If weight is that important, then you should go with a duffle bag or weekender style bag.

  • Echo buying direct from AT and their website has 10% extra off for first time buyers bringing it down to about $105 delivered.

I have this exact bag. I bought it for 160 on 'sale'

    I don't recommend it

It keeps falling over, the frame or something has poor distribution so it always tips over if left alone.

    • interesting contrast with HiredGoon's feedback above

    • Are you packing it with heavy stuff near the front or top of the bag, or are you over-stuffing it?

Soft-shell suitcases always fall over easily if you're overstuffing and just squishing it down because it makes the front of the bag denser. I've found that just putting the heavier stuff near the bottom (e.g. shoes, jackets…etc.) makes it much more balanced.
