whoa is that even legal
Yep I'm one of them. Resort didn't have any snow for most of the season. No refunds and didn't even let us use our vouchers for another season.
We also lost our money on the accomodation.
Wouldn't bother with Selwyn again.
I will say from just having been up there a few days ago I've never seen it that dry in the many years I've been going.
Rivers that are normally thigh or waist deep I was able to cross with barely shoes getting wet.
Smaller creeks were so low I had to go down stream 100m+ just to fill water bottles.
It's no guarantee but I wouldn't be buying anything for the Aussie snow fields this season.
In your experience, do you correlate snowfall to how deep the river runs? That's pretty cool.
In the alpine regions absolutely.
Snow fall from the previous season used to be around until late November or mid December.
Snow reflects UV which keeps the ground and surrounding areas cooler, slow melt keeps ground water high well past season end which also keeps the microclimate moist and generates more rainfall.
We've had several long summers and short/weak winters so it's progressively getting drier.
I really hope for a good snow season or there will be more than tourism at stake.
No refunds if Selwyn closes the resort. Many people lost hundreds $$ the other year from ticket mania purchases, so be warned of their T&Cs (see Google reviews for reference)
