I tried with an aldi sim, but ended up getting a Lemon Mobile sim. 2 years 50 meg a month for under $50.
That sim didn't do text, so I put my work sim into the tracker to sms though the APN, then it worked.

You could have used a different SIM with plenty of data/sms getting it to work. then put in your $10/year SIM.
I have one inside my e-bike frame. The only catch is it needed an isolating 5V power supply to charge from the bike. If it is earthed to the frame, no GPS and no LTE.
Or you could manually charge it, I suppose. How long would the battery last if you are moving a few hours per week?
So you’re saying to me try in another SIM card? Why my Aldi one should do the job.
My boost one is got my day to day phone not for a tracker.
Maybe the issue is just the app but funny how nobody else has issues using sino track.
Almost 3 weeks owning it now still no good I not even tried messing about with it anymore until I get some proper solution as I have done more things than i should need to and not any fitter forward.
Do u get smscommands working? Maybe banned from 3g shutdown. Blacklisted device

I recently bought a Sinotrack 901 and connected it up to a self-hosted Traccar instance. Put a $10 365-day expiry Amaysim card in there, reporting every 30 seconds costs me 3c per day. Very cool.
I'm about to install the traccar server onto my Synology NAS. I'm using a Lemon Mobile sim, only 50 meg a month, so it will be interesting to see how it goes with the data.

Mostly for fun, I like hosting stuff at home. Also kinda assumed the official Sinotrack service was paid but looks like it might not be after all
I use these with Traccar and a 1nce sim. $10usd for 10 yrs and 500mb data.
These things use around 5mb a month.
Hmm.. that's an interesting deal. My Queclink tracker uses generally less than 1MB of data per month (running on LTE-M/NB-IoT). With Hologram that costs about US$1/month so this would be cheaper after a year or so. (Looks like they are actually $15, not $10 - unless that's a different deal? Plus US$7 shipping)
I did buy my sims a few years ago. So pricing may have gone up slightly :(
Still the 10 year validity is what really sold me. Can keep them activated and ready for any project ideas I have.
This is not really going to solved my problem of getting this to work, I purchased an Aldi sim to use just for my device and my boost sim stays in phone as is.
Are you saying i supposed to use a different tracker app at this is the one your supposed to use and that comes with device.

Using ruhavik app using my Turkish IOS sub (this is for 5 devices) TRY529.99 ~AUD $21/year. have also used traccar and still have a server installed. I do prefer RUHAVIK as just to add devices and it just work. Just send server address, APN to simcard and you good to go
Just had a look in ruhavik and they had SinoTrack ST-915 and 915W. Guess it should work with L?
I am using amaysim when they go on sale. Usually $10 for $25 and so on. Just choose long expiry. They hardly use data BUT if you choose messages it eat up money quickly pending plan. So setup on another sim example one on a plan with unlimited message or similar to get it to work first. You need around 3 or 4 messages received from it. It's when it's verifying the changes. Hope it made sense. :) batteries on mine last around 3 weeks with daily driving/riding I got it hooked up to cig lighter charger on one so tops it up all the time.
Is there a gps you'd recommend? Ease of use. Reliability.

Don't have dogs but by the size 9.5x7.18x3.37cm I don't think it would be good if it gets stuck on branches and such. Also got a 10000mah battery in it.
Was going to put it in their harness pocket. so branch snags/size shouldn't be an issue.
Didn't even knew they had pockets. There you go. If size fits should be fine. Not sure about the weight and if that would be an issue for them? But if I would do this, just put it in and try without the hunting to see how they react to it before

Will this work hidden under a trailer? I'm guessing not well without visibility of the sky.
should work fine. It uses A-GNSS, just like phones. It gets a fairly accurate position when it's stuffed under my motorbike thats in a core filled concrete garage, built into the side of a hill, underneath 2 levels of house above.
So if I try my sim from my mobile phone does that mean more new settings? I can’t see it being my Aldi sim it’s new purchased for this.
I could try putting in my mobile SIM card then see if anything changes?
Do to lack of help I have just left it as is but I am definitely keen to get it to work. I was refunded for it as what’s the point if it does not track live which it’s supposed to do.
Or should I be using a different app? Is there others free I can try that’s compatible with this device?
I have one from the last deal if anyone on here has this up and running and tracking live I be interested to know why I’m not getting it.
