I'd trust any battery more than a Jeep motor.
Jeep EV, couldn't think of a faster depreciating car
I can think of one, start with T :)
First guess.
TOYOTA? :)
@spackbace will be after you baha
Yes, I got the sarcasm
@WhyAmICommenting: Toyota sell themselves, a real salesman can sit there, nod and smile, and the Jeep is sold.
Is it one where 'Everything's Computer'™?
it's a lemon-yellow color! XD
Colour.
Jokes aside. Are these things capable of going off-road?
I remember old school TV ads of JEEPs going off road. (Not sure if any of them made it out).
Do most SUV owners use them for off-road nowadays? I'm guessing not.
SUV is the highest-selling vehicle type now; therefore, the default these days.
"SUV owners use them for off-road nowadays"
They do. I see it regularly at school zones, they mount kerbs and roundabouts without any issue - it seems.
Hahaha very true!
You could definately take it off road at least once
It just might not get back on-road…
(Flies away)
Just cause it's 4wd shaped doesn't mean it can 4wd!
It's pretty much an overweight, lifted hatchback haha
M… I guess they really shouldn't call it a "jeep".
I had the same question, but
Regardless of Avenger grade, all feature a single 115kW/260Nm electric motor that drives the front wheels.
So, no
Yes but they don't come back.
FWD only.
They can't do OTA $50 4WD 24 hours update via booster pack subscription?
Looks like they are miles behind Tesla.
Though, a Jeep can probably take any 3rd party fluids.
The Jeep Avenger received a substandard three-star rating from ANCAP.
https://www.ancap.com.au/safety-ratings/jeep/avenger/6287c5
I think 5 star is a must for all car these days.
I do recall they are quite good at cutting the legs off the front passengers in mild speed frontal collisions.
I do recall they are quite good at cutting the legs
Makes sense since jeep are quite good at cutting corners when it comes yo safety
Good info, I revoked my positive vote after reading this.
It scored low for safety assist, which most 5 star car users seem to turn off by default lol.
IE: there's no driver monitoring, so no beeping as you turn your head to your wife whilst at the lights. Nothing to worry about for me.
Meh.. ANCAP is getting increasingly irrelevant with the amount of stupid nanny systems they require to get a 5 star rating.
No spoilers plz 🤷♂️
Just Empty Every Pockets
Just Expect Every Problem
I had a rumour jeep was pulling out of Australia. Anyone confirm or deny?
The "paused" availability of the grand Cherokee (which used to be one of their biggest sellers), so the usual Facebook mouth breathers who want to jump on the hate train started saying that.
Essentially there is no news to say they are leaving, in fact they are saying they are "commited to Australia" (they all say that though).
I'm not saying Jeep won't leave Australia at some point, their sales have been on a slide since their peak in 2014 when they actually knocked Prado off the top selling 4wd spot, however there I no news of it yet.
Honestly if I were Jeep I'd consider throwing in the towel in Aus, the market here is unnecessarily hostile towards them and with our free trade/close proximity to China, honestly the way it's going we'll all be driving Chinese cars in 10 to 15 years time without any choice in the matter as the Japanese/American brands just won't be able to compete on price.
Pity its a Jeep.
Squint and it might look like a Peugeot 2008/Fiat 600
Not sure if that’s better or worse.
Got a gladiator. Love it very much. Very fun car. All the people talking smak cannot afford one.
Yeah I do find that, we picked up a grand Cherokee L summit reserve just recently in the close out sales, well under 80k for the top spec, which is just so far ahead of anything else in the class.
We looked at the Everest and honestly they felt like a Commercial vehicle in comparison, even the 95k platinum spec felt poverty spec compared to the summit.
We had our previous grand Cherokee for 8~ years and 180,000+KMs too with literally no issues that whole time and the new one has the same motor/gearbox combo so I'm not worried at all.
99% of the Jeep haters have never actually owned one, they just heard a story from their uncle who bought a 2002 grand Cherokee for $1800 that ended up costing him $4000 in repairs that "Jeeps are shit mate!"…
which is just so far ahead of anything else in the class.
As in maintenance cost wise?
Just oil & filter changes in the 8 years 180,000~ Kms on the last one we had.
People are missing out paying nearly 100k for the poor build quality and spec of the Thai Everests. The V8 patrols are cool engine wise but damn that interior is ghastly and unless you do them up a bit they are basically grandpa spec on the looks department from the outside.
I'm not here to change anyone's mind though, it's essentially pointless, Aussies are very much hive mind type people and the hive has said that "Jeeps are shit!" So most people don't need any further evidence than that.
Look at old mate who started this thread as an example, literally just said "I've got a gladiator and I love it!"… Reddit… Oh I mean ozbargain "5 down votes!!! No Jeep positivity allowed!!" Lol.
@Binchicken22: Nah he said people that talk smak about jeeps cant afford one, so i reckon the negs are for that, probably some 79 series owner laughing at them. The reality is there are better cars for similar money or more and the gladiator is a poor seller and damn ugly. As far as rumour being the only source of the poor reliability reputation a simple google shows even in the US the wrangler only scores a 2 out of 5 with the cherokee being the highest rated. Glad you had no issues with yours but i would take a landrover over a jeep any day of the week and they had a similar reputation.
I purchased a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for my wife. Purchased it brand-new for $82k. It has spent so much time in the dealership under warranty repairs that I will never own another Jeep ever, even if I was given a brand-new free one.
You might be curious of the things that have gone wrong so far, well……the baking system, the air conditioning system, the electrics four times, including the electric in the chairs, the electric cameras, the mirrors, the towing system (when I put my foot on the break the hazard lights turned on instead of the brake lights, not wiring but electrical programming issue), engine mounts broken after 40,000 km, Auto window wipers turning on on a sunny day and not turning off, stereo and navigation system freezing needing to be completely reprogrammed, car stuck in valet mode…..on and on…
I live three hours from the closest authorised Jeep Repair dealership. I’m still trying to get Jeep to recognise (through their authorised repair agent) that the rattle that is in the engine needs to be fixed, but because they can’t identify what it is they don’t cover it under warranty. As a mechanic I know that it is the timing chain that has a problem that they don’t want to take the engine apart to confirm that it seems to me as if they just want the car to blow up just outside of warranty.
So I guess I must be the one percent of haters that own a jeep.
The engine mounts were an issue on the early WL models, there was a recall on all built before somewhere in the end of 22. Not really the end of the world, all brands have recalls, especially on new models.
The rest of the stuff it's really hard to address without specifics and could well be user error. "The braking system" "the electrics" are just so generic to make any judgement on what's going on but I haven't heard of any common issues with those.
Consider a chat with your lawyer and ask for a refund under the ACL.

You mean can’t afford the repairs? Don’t have a spare car? Etc etc ;)
whats your average fuel consumption like?
They are about 13L/100 around town, about 9 on the highway, but none of the reliability concerns of most of your modern diesels + don't sound like a tractor, great trade off IMO ;)
Freeway 10.5L, city 11.5-12.5 in gladiator
Gladiator is a nice car. I am just surprised they didn't make the wheelbase a little bit longer
/s?
This'll depreciate faster than its 0-100 time.
Lucky it's 0-100 time is slow af then… Nice try, but swing & a miss.
Will be in the workshop more than on the road
Big saving! So what’s the warranty and servicing costs?
Buy an MG4 instead
SUV vs Hatchback. Perhaps you mean MG S5
Is it realllllly an SUV though? The MG4 is slightly longer and slightly wider and slightly shorter. Ride height is 15cm on the MG4 vs 20cm on the Jeep. So not much of a difference. It's more of a 'crossover.' It is also quite close to a Yaris Cross in dimensions (the Jeep).
So unless you realllly need the 5cm extra ride height, it is pretty much the same size.
Yeah no. The interior of the jeep looks as small as the mg4 , same as the boot. The mg4 is 4.2 m long while this car is 4m.

SUVs typically have features like a raised ground clearance, four-wheel drive, and potentially a body-on-frame construction (though this is increasingly less common
Why are Jeeps so bad? Went to a used car dealership with a mate last year, the guy was trying to sell us two different Jeeps with low kms and at a very low price as well
They aren't really, Aussies just hate them for some reason.
The grand Cherokee is the best selling vehicle in its class in the states, 250,000+ sales per year… They love them.
It shows of small fry all of our vehicle sales are, even in its very best year here (which even bested Prado sales that year) it sold 14,000 units.
You’re literally just making those numbers up, there was only a single year in the entire history of the grand Cherokee where they sold more than 250,000 cars in one year in the US (2021). And even in the top selling year of the Grand Cherokee, it wasn’t the best selling vehicle of its large SUV class - it was outsold by the Ford Explorer & Toyota Highlander (Kluger).
Last year they moved just 106,000 cars and was outsold by the RAV4 by more than 4:1. This is despite Stellantis (and Nissan) being notorious in the US for financing everyone that walks in their door despite their credit history, which is partially why Dodge Chargers are really popular cars in the hood and why repo culture is much bigger in the US than here.
For Australia’s population size of 27 million vs 340 million in the US we actually buy a lot of cars in comparison, we just don’t buy a lot of junk made in America.
Reliability is trash.
But hey go for it if you're a masochist.
Remember to bring petrol generator with your EV Jeep if you need to go off road.
Would have been worth buying if it was made in China as many “European” cars are but this is an actual European made car by Stellantis 💩
There is nothing Jeep about this, and that's a good thing!
Solid reviews, looks good, well priced……..but its a Jeep. Hmm
Just buy a Tesla.
You mean a BYD?
No.

But everyone shits on Jeep because of that one video. Even people who have never owned one.
This is European made EV and has nothing JEEP about it.
So the base model started at $54k, then it went to $50k (these were both BEFORE on roads), now $40k driveway??? Wowsa
wondered how it got so much range from a 55kwh battery, 115kw power 😂
NMC batteries are more energy dense so packs more power hence the longer range . Downside is it’s less safe so more prone to thermal runaway
Lol this comment thread is great!
390km WLTP means like 320 in reality. 250 on a highway. I'm an EV owner, but this would absolutely give me range anxiety.
And it uses NMC batteries, so you should only charge up to 80% most times.
The website configurator is down before the car even started for me. Classic Jeep.
The webpage at https://configurator.jeep.com.au/visualizer/null/JJ24 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Does this have the ads on startup and stop like what I've seen in the news?
E Waste Product
Not a huge range nor a lot of power…. I wonder how reliability would compare to other cars of the price. This doesn't seem like a car you could take off-road, which makes the off-road design a bit pointless.
What a heap of JEEP
It might not be great specs on paper compared to the other brands. But for a jeep fan or someone who is still on the fence about tesla and Chinese brands. This price point would definitely be appealing to them.
It might not be for me but I'm glad to see legacy brands finally coming in with sub $50k full EVs. This is only a good thing for everyone.
How's the warranty.
Wait just saw the range, don't waste ya time.
American Jeep build quality,
Crap range
Crap performance.
This is pure republican "ChINa BAd" bait.
Lets be honest this was it's RRP all along, good get though OP.
How was this voted car of the year…
Lol how is Jeep selling a car in Australia "republican China bad" bait?!
Talk about living rent free…
Was insinuating this is the car the Trumpians try and convince people that Engineered in America is better than their chinese counterparts to justify the tariffs.
In reality it's lagging far behind.
There is nothing American about this car other than the owner. It's made in EU (Poland) and shares it's platform with other Stellantis owned European car brands.
@dealhunter52: Oh yeah 100% agree, although American's would still argue that Jeep is America and America is Jeep.
American engineering is 100% better than Chinese that's not even up for debate in anyone with half a brain.
Hence why China have mostly just stolen technology over the past 50 years rather than invent it and why all their military tech they have supplied Pakistan is failing miserably in real world use now that India is attacking them lol.
@HD9990: No, Pakistan. China are allied with Pakistan and have supplied all their military tech.
China and India are adversaries.
China and India are adversaries
you are simple minded like a child.
all their military tech
I highly doubt if you are a true Pakistanian. even I know you guys had a good relationship with US and are still holding some F-16s…
besides. poor Indians just got 5 fighter jets and one drone blown away, by Pakistan with Chinese PL15 missiles launched J10C
where does all your info come from….
hmm atto 3 seems like a better value proposition more range more power more tech almost same price minus ORC
driving for max 3.5 hours before recharging is wild to me. defs more a city car.
No one here has any experience with Jeep EV and their quality yet everyone has to have a say.
PROS:
- You bought a Jeep
CONS:
- You bought a Jeep
The Avenger isn't a Jeep. it was designed by Fiat and is built in Poland alongside the Alfa Romeo Junior and Fiat 600e, which share the same platform, batteries, motors etc. The Junior & 600e will be substantially more expensive than the Avenger.
Only needs the battery to fail and you are done.
