Igloo ICF60 Single Zone Fridge Freezer $349 (Club Price) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Anaconda

150

Going camping this weekend and the $50 marketplace camp fridge no longer wants to play ball so went and checked out RTM and Anaconda. Both have some good deals on 35-60L fridges for between $250-$350.

This one is a Dometic sub brand I believe, a little bit cheaper in construction but most importantly has a Dometic compressor and 3 year warranty. Apparently discounted from $799 but you will need a free Anaconda club membership.

If you need a bigger fridge RTM has a brass monkey 74l for dirt cheap, but that's hyooge.

Salesperson advised this Igloo line is finishing up for some reason but obviously warranty etc still applies.

I would have gone the 40L if it was in stock for $299, same as this deal as 60L is overkill for two people but needed it today and my store had no stock.

  • I have found it pretty good so fair - paid $100 more, but it came with a cover. This comes with both an AC adaptor and 12V cable (which I don't think all units do).

  • please let me know if we can use it using 12v car for a day trip? or it need a proper power bank?thanks

      Also keen to know =)

      • great, now i know its not a dumb question :P

        • The more I read it says

          "12V and 240V built in"

Does that mean it comes with cables in build? or….

@Temptation: It can be used in car. Probably worthwhile chilling it 240v at home then plug in 12v in car. Car must be running because probably get 12 hours on car battery (not running) before it gets drained

You're probably get both cables in it

@leeroys_dad: I also have a EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro ot run if needed, I did a chatgpt quick comparison

"To estimate how long each fridge/freezer can run on the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro, we'll convert the amp-hour (Ah) consumption to watt-hour (Wh) and then divide the power station's capacity by this number.

              Conversion Formula:
              Power Consumption (Wh) = Current (A) × Voltage (V)

              Igloo ICF 60L:

              Power Consumption: 1.05 A × 12 V = 12.6 Wh per hour

              Estimated Runtime: 768 Wh ÷ 12.6 Wh/hour ≈ 61 hours

              Brass Monkey 74L:

              Power Consumption: 2.5 A × 12 V = 30 Wh per hour

              Estimated Runtime: 768 Wh ÷ 30 Wh/hour ≈ 25.6 hours"

@Temptation: The Brass Money is cheaper , bigger and very inefficient fridge. Glad I didn’t buy on price alone.

              • +1

@Temptation: This formula is useless, you don't know the duty cycle each fridge needs to run at. The Igloo could be running the compressor the entire time and the Brass Monkey 50% of the time. If so, they'd be comparable.

Depends on the cooling capacity/efficiency of the compressor and also how good the insulation is.

Yes you can, but typically the power to the fridge will be cut when you turn the car off, so if it's mainly driving with some stops, I'd pre-cool everything and it should stay cool enough while you're stopping.

It comes with a 12v cigarette adaptor so you can day trip for sure. Just be mindful of leaving it too long without the car running

    • The car will power this while it is running, but once you turn off your car, it won't. You can get something like the one below to power this while the car is not running.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904354

It will run the fridge by itself for around 23 hours.

I personally would go for this model if I was spending $349. Same 3 year warranty, but it has wheels, has the battery compartment if you wanted to run it "wirelessly" for a few hours, and also it is dual zone, so two different temperature zones. RTM and Jaycar have both been outstanding with any warranty issues. (I have had a few Rovin and Brass Monkey fridges over the last few years)

    • Yours is 35L vs the 60L in this deal though…

      • My apologies. Completely missed that! For some reason I thought they were a similar size. Such a dope.

  • Thanks OP. I was after a portable fridge and glad I waited. Now I got my inverter and fridge on order, ready for my next road trip.

  • A good esky plus techni ice reusable dry ice packs work great for short camping trips. Keep the esky in the shade of course. Pre-cool all your food/drinks in the fridge or freezer at home before you go. Have a few spare packs to pre-cool the inside of the esky while empty (and closed up) the night before you leave. Never had any issues keeping food at safe temperatures. If your esky doesn't have good insulation or you're going in hot weather you can wrap the outside of the esky in foil bubble wrap (many of those pre-made meal companies line their boxes with it e.g. youfoodz).
