I stopped using the Melb tollroads a few years back, and have three Etags, and though I would check out if they still got a $50 rtefund on Return.
What I saw was a rule change from Transurban, where they appear to have given themselves the right to charge $15 if you don't return them on theii demand. The things are worthless.
Do you still use an eTag or do you let them get away with the highway robbery on $0.55 per trip for "No eTag."
Everybody except the government consultants who oversee the Transurban contracts, knows the have had a fully electronic system in place for years.
In Victoria the original South Eastern and Tullamarine have beem open for over 50 years, in parts over 60 years, so these two are fully paid, times over. But Look at their Annual reports, and they are just scraping by,
Transurban Sydney and Brisbane will keep crying poor mouth about the sacrifices they make just to stay in business

Forget to add punctuation.. “ok, thanks Clickbait”
Was simply saying thanks to you
What's your question? They want the tag back so if you don't send it they can charge you.
In NSW you can use e-toll instead of linkt and deliver the tag back to Service NSW instead of paying postage.
Sorry . Help me here.
Do you still have the etag?
Do you still use the etag?
Do they owe you $50 as in Vic?Yes I use a toll road once or twice a year and having a tag is the best/cheapest option.
Not sure why they would owe me $50. If I give back the tag they should refund the money in my account which is always between $15 and $40 (due to their top up / balance rules).

Because fascism has no expiry date.
Well actually it does, ask Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot etc.etc
I done been speaking English since I was borned
It's not about the $15 is it? It's about how, while they're scanning your tag with the microwaves, they're also scanning your brain and stealing your valuable thoughts. Working out how to get you off that ring road and onto the Bolte.

It's been there for a long time.
Nah, its a rip, they don't even need you to have an actual tag as they have camera's, motorbikes don't need tags as the plates are picked up by the camera.
And they charge you video matching fees if the tag doesn't register when going through the gate, but the camera picked your plates up just fine.
They video match most/every trip anyway even with the successful tag scan - if you don't register your plate with Linkt they will alert you that you're using the tag in a vehicle you haven't registered the plate of. They'd only know this if they matched your plate even with a tag being used.

It wasn't $50 for returning your etag, it was your account credit being returned.
When Transurban first opened, you had to have a minimum account balance credit of $50.
Eastlink, the other toll company has the same arrangement, you need to have $30 minimum account credit in your account.

Worthless to you, but they are the toll companies property. They can be reused if they wanted to. So the $15 fee is a fee for loss/damaged/unreturned tags.
Likewise, you can take your tag in at any time when it isn't working and they'll replace it for free.
So bundle all your etags connected to your account and return them, close your account and cash out.
Don't forget to wrap the tags in tinfoil before you send them or they will record while travelling.
Also don't forget to wear your tinfoil hat as well.
And don't go past Tullamarine, as that is where they store the chemtrail agent. Is There a Ripoff Coming from Transurban?
