Looks like this 40Gbps is going pretty cheap. Reviews are a bit iffy but worth the risk at this price.

Thanks OP. Camelcamelcamel chart on this one looks great.
Looks as great as my share portfolio!
Edit: 60% drop but doesn't show on top drops page, odd
This one overheats and has high idle power use. It's almost always hot being used or not slowly cooking the NVME. I returned mine and got the Acasis TBU405 Air (Fanless) and that runs much cooler (Still warm but not hot like this is) and the Acasis uses a lot less power. I have a T500 Crucial 4TB NVME in the Acasis. I got mine 2 months ago during a sale on Aliexpress and with coupon stacking and cashback, came down to $65 delivered.
Is this the model? https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Thunderbolt-TBU405-Air-Ins…
Seems to have some concerning negative reviews of corrupting drives. https://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/B0DD34LH8R/ref=acr_dp…
I can do the same as you and get all the low star rating reviews for the Ugreen, same reports, actually worse. Countless reports the Ugreen disconnecting all the time corrupting data. That is above the over heating issues and high power use and fans not working properly. The Acasis is much better.
I bought one of these enclosure off of amazon.
I was following steps to clone a 128gb drive to a 256gb one because mom needed more space. anyway it got very hot but was successful, computer still working.
but ever since then with the 128gb inside it only worked once more. every time after that one time I have tried to use it, it freezes the computer after plugging it in. tried on different computer same thing.
I looked it up and seems like a lot of these cheap enclosure's use a lot of power from the regular USB port (the one I got was USB-A). up to 9W from a USB port which is only supposed to allow 5W max. so I was told this is killing the USB port and what happens is the enclosure can't get enough power and it freezes the computer.I thought this Ugreen one might be a bit better but one negative review says it died quickly as well, and you mention a lot of heat so probably not any better than the one I have. they are made cheaply and tbh I didn't know until I used one for the first time. I think internal SSD consumes a lot more power than say, a external Samsung T7 which I also have that has none of these problems.
tbh I don't recommend putting a internal SSD into an enclosure and expect it to be reliable. they are meant to go in PC's. I thought it was a budget loophole before I tried an enclosure, but from now on I will use external SSD.
was yours this model ? or a fan-less one?
it's a black one, all powder coated metal. no fan.
it served it's purpose which was cloning an entire SSD once. but I wouldn't recommend them for other use such as backups.I have a Samsung T7 it doesn't have a fan either, but never had an issue with it once.
search google you will find a lot of these cheaper enclosure's will produce a lot of heat, and draw up to 9W from USB port. I also thought cheap enclosure + m.2 drive was much less than Samsung external so bargain! but it is not the case. the enclosure is just to the cheapest way to adapt USB -> m.2 socket. they are made completely different the Samsung made for reliability.
Now out of stock. You may be able to get a relatively similar price in the upcoming Aliexpress sale
Received mine today. Working well. Read and write around 3000MB/s. I am using a WD 850X to test. Did have some disconnects when connected through a Caldigit TS4 dock. Connected directly to a MacBook Pro seems to work fine.
Got the Orico model for $40 on Temu after cashback, probably worth the $15 extra for warranty / Amazon support
Love how solid state enclosures have anti drop support, really need shock resistant on those drives that can undergo 100s of Gs…
Note: No UASP on this model
