USB-C Hub/Dock for Dual 4K Monitors on Mac M4 Pro – Recommendations?

Hi OzB,

I'm looking for recommendations on a USB-C hub that works well with my Mac using the Apple M4 Pro chip.

My current Dell dock works fine with my Windows laptop, driving two 4K monitors via USB-C, but it doesn't do the same with my Mac. From what I've read, it might be related to MST (Multi-Stream Transport) being used for HDMI/DP outputs, which macOS doesn’t support.

Has anyone found a hub or dock that successfully supports dual 4K displays using their Mac? Ideally, I’m after an all-in-one solution that includes power output for laptop, usb ports, etc

Appreciate any help—thanks!

(Also I have already tried BetterDisplay without any success)

I am using the Kensington SD5750T Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station along with my M4 Mac Pro. There was a sale a few weeks ago with lots of discussions regarding multi monitor setup & m4 macs

I purchased during the sale & am happy with my purchase though using it mainly for the USB ports

Get a Thunderbolt dock instead of a USB-C dock.

The M4 Pro has three Thunderbolt ports already, it has MagSafe so you won't need to use one of them to charge, and it has HDMI. Do you even need a dock?

  • Dell wd22tb4 works great for dual 4k @60Hz. I use usb c to hdmi/DP cables to connect the dock to my monitors.

Single cable from the dock to connect to my MBP or work windows laptop.
