G'day all,

We are running further clearance promotion on the Kensington SD5750T Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station - Black. The promo is valid till Wednesday 30th April 11:59PM 2025 or till stocks last.

Discount automatically applied at checkout w/ free shipping Australia wide. We also ship to PO Boxes and Parcel Lockers.

Product details can be found here.
Note that the product specs mention it is 'designed for surface' however, it also works on Windows 10 & 11 laptops with Thunderbolt 4 port or MacBooks running MacOS Big Sur 11 with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 port, and other compatible devices.

For mac users, it is also dependent on the chipset of the Mac. For eg: Mac with M1 chipset would only support single monitor functionality. Mac with M1 Pro or M1 Max chipset will support the dual monitor functionality.

Big thanks to @jaUtr65Hme for the below information:
“I've bought this a bit earlier and tested it 100% can be used on MacOS and general windows laptop.
MacBook Pro with M4 + 2 screens no problem.

Also for people asking plug types - AU plug included. Saying included as it comes with ALL major types of plugs even including UK/US/Japan one so it is possible to use it during international travel”

If you are still uncertain, I highly recommend calling Kensington support directly and they can verify the compatibility for you over the phone. Their number can be found below or via link here

This has now been cleared with compatibility confirmed across compatible Windows, Surface and Mac devices. Price has also been dropped further to $139.99 as an extended Easter promo special.

Any queries please feel free to ask below in the comments or DM me directly.

People got negged for providing accurate information?
It’s literally stated on the official website. https://www.kensingtonstore.com.au/products/sd5750t-thunderb…

        From the OP:

      • Providing select information without reference to the complete picture means this is misleading.

… however, it also works on …

it may or may not,.. but manufacturer can't be clearer about its own product.

      • +23

Hi all, we have cleared this with the manufacturer already. Despite being designed exclusively for surface, it works across Windows 10 & 11 laptops with Thunderbolt 4 port or MacBooks running MacOS Big Sur 11 with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 port, and other compatible devices.

        Hope this helps.

        Thank you,

@AlexF: I cleared this myself the last time this deal was posted. It is not possible to make a dock that’s only comparable with surface only. To do so would be a massive engineering effort.

This dock is compatible with most/all forms of windows/mac/microsoft laptops

Hope that clears things up. It’s just optimised for surface which means as far as I can tell. Nothing. Feel free to validate via YouTube where they also show these docks working with Mac’s etc

@Ajsyd999: Thanks @Ajsyd999. Hi @AlexF, I appreciate you being thorough. If it helps, you can also call Kensington help line during business hours at 1300 881 931 to clarify. Additionally, we will happily organise a pre-paid return label and expedite return process if you have a compatible non-surface device and the dock doesn’t work.
              Thanks!

            • @Ajsyd999: Yeah normally things branded like this:

              A. Comply with standards and are just validated with a specific device or device range to ensure there are no bugs whatsoever. Think of commodity hardware produced for Mac like external hard drives.

              B. Is just styled and branded to work with a specific device or device range.

Obviously though that is potentially compatible with a large number of computers it's not feasible to test it and make sure it works with everything. For that we rely on the standards.

Not wanting to be pedantic… but there are docks only compatible with Surface devices, specifically the official surface dock. It connects with the surface charger connector.

Software and hardware DRM is a mature area and not difficult to implement. The only difficulty is in how much investment you want to make in the resulting arms race with people that want to break your DRM.

@Ajsyd999: microsoft wouldnt know how to make something work with surface only lol, would need to call Tim for advice

            • +1

              @Ajsyd999: This is a weird argument/thread.

It's a "thunderbolt" dock. Not a "Surface" dock.

It can be "exclusively designed*" for any platform and that doesn't mean it's not going to work (as per protocol) on other platforms.

*This is often a reference to the aesthetics and nothing to do with the underlying protocol/engineering.

Silly question but does it work with USB 4 ports on non-surface laptops?

    • +1

Hi @AFM7, not a silly question at all! Yep, it will plug and play with your USB 4 port however it may lack the dual monitor functionality. If you are working with a single monitor setup, then it should be no issues.

      Thanks,
      Travis

  • Nice… been on the lookout for a dock.

  • Bought a few things over the years from Kensington they are not bad, decent built quality and performance. Won't ask for more and also pretty happy with it!

  • +1

    FYI: works with non-Surface hardware:

    Compatibility

The Kensington SD5750T has been designed exclusively for the Surface, but you can use it with MacBooks and other laptops as well. If you want to use this with a Mac, then it should have a Thunderbolt 3 port, and you need to use the latest version of MacOS (Big Sur 11). For Windows devices, you need to make sure that your laptop has a Thunderbolt 4 port. If your Windows laptop has a Thunderbolt 3 port instead, then you will not be able to connect to the dock via the Thunderbolt 4 host connector.

what is the highest refresh rate at 4k resolution for this dock on a single monitor?

    • Hi @Davincii, 60Hz for the 4K setup, or 30Hz for an 8K. Hope this helps.
      Best wishes,
      Travis

  • Ordered one for Mac Mini 4, planning to get a Mac mini M4 soon for video/study/home use.

    • Thank you for your support @MrPresident! Best of luck for your Mac purchase.

Would this work for an ROG Ally Z1 Extreme? I'm using a TEMU dock right now >.< it's okay but the HDD transfer is slow and disconnects sometimes

    • Hi @Bunnyburger
The Ally has a "ROG XG Mobile Interface and USB Type-C combo port (with USB 3.2 Gen2, support DisplayPort™1.4)" as per specs. Kensington SD5750T dock suppports USB4 / Thunderbolt 4 ports. Thus, it wouldn't work to full functionality with with Ally unfortunately.
      Hope this clarifies.
      Best wishes,

I have two computers and two screens. Will this setup allow me to switch between them easily, or should I look for a different option?

    • I use deskflow for the similar situation.

      • I am not allowed to use software, it has to be hardware

        • +7

You might be looking for something like a kvm switch

  • This or the infamous k20a dell dock which can usually be had for nearly $50 cheaper (albeit, used)

    • +3

I am no expert but I have one of the K20A docks - a Dell WD19TB Thunderbolt 3 dock, it has been decent for WFH for a while. But it struggles with dual 4k @ 60hz. I have to use one Display port cable and one USB-C to DP cable to get it working. Sometimes one monitor reverts to 30hz out of nowhere and it drives me nuts trying to figure out how to get it working again. I just bought one of these Kensingtons to hopefully make things simpler with the multiple TB4 ports.

If you need dual 4k at 60hz, get the Kensington or at least make sure the Dell is a newer one than mine that is TB4 and supports dual 4k at 60hz

      • Brilliant thanks for the insight. Sounds like this dock is the way to go.

      • Agreed - Dell WD19TBS is no good with dual 4k displays.

  • Is there a typo on the RRP? That rrp can buy a good phone in 2025..

    • Hence the discounted price :) (RRP is correctly provided from the manufacturer)
      Best wishes,
      Travis

  • Thanks Travis! Just purchased one from your Horizon Store for my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro (FK193X/A). As per your recommendations / compatibility with Mac etc. Cheers!… If I have any issues, I know where to find you:)

    • +2

Please post back with how you go, I also have same MacBook. I was under the impression that even the Pro M1 chips could only output one display over Thunderbolt (but a 2nd via HDMI), so am very interested if this dock can do 2 separate displays via one Thunderbolt connection.

      • +2

        Hey Marty, this is from Kensington's website;

"A MacBook Pro with M1/M2/M3 Pro can accommodate up to two external displays using either a Thunderbolt™ 4 docking station OR by connecting the monitors directly to the MacBook Pro using the Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI® ports. The M1/M2/M3 Pro chip will support up to two external displays with up to 6K resolution @ 60Hz."

Now the way I interpret this (or want to interpret this) is that 2 external displays will work (via TB4), ONLY if using a Thunderbolt 4 docking station (which the SD5700T is…). If you don't have the TB4 docking station, you have to use the HDMI + TB4 ports directly on the MacBook.

As you can see I'm an optimist Haha!! I shall report back with my findings… tba.

    • Thank you for your support @MuscleRulz!
Absolutely, feel free to reach out directly to our CS team here or via OZB in case of any issues. More than happy to assist :)
      Best wishes,
      Travis

  • How does this compare with the HP Thunderbolt 4 Dock? I am looking that one but it is a bit over my need as I only need 2 for the macbook.

  • +2

90W power delivery is a win!

  • Any compatibility issues with m4?

    • Hi @evasive, Mac M4 has TB4 ports thus should not have any compatibility issues. If any issues or faults do arise always welcome to reach out to our support team here and we will assist you with any returns or general queries.
      Thank you,
      Travis

    No HDMI output?

    • Hi @OzHan,
No unfortunately, you would be looking at HDMI or DP to USB-C cable for this one.
      Thanks,
      Travis

  • Thanks. Grabbed one :-)

  • Photos show non-australian power cord. Is this accurate?

    • Good find @TheHD! Thanks for letting us know.
Photos are directly sourced from the manufacturer. I believe they are using these globally.
Not to worry however, this is Australian stock with Australian cord and Australian warranty!
      Best wishes,
      Travis

  • The Horizon site stipulates these are 100% Australian Stock… so I would assume AU cords will be included.

  • So why this over eg. https://www.amazon.com.au/NOVOO-Docking-Station-Multiport-Th… for $40? Just more stable?

    • +1

USB 3.0 and no thunderbolt support

      • What do you mean? The linked adapter claims to support both.

        • It's not clear what it supports.

I read the description, it reads like it 'supports' being plugged into a thunderbolt port but will be USB 3.0 speed only.

The images say USB 3.2, the title says thunderbolt 3 and 4.

  • Got anything that can output to a Samsung g9
8k but at higher refresh rate for MacBook Pro M4 Max?
I just need extra usb A and C ports so figured a dock with all in one saves multiple cables

  • +1

Will this (connected to a MacBook Pro M4) drive 2 x 4K@60Hz monitors using USB-C to DisplayPort/HDMI cable?

    • Keen to find out also

    • I want to know as well. i m using HP G5 essential dock and have to plug 1 HDMI on mac and another HDMI on dock as it doesn't support other port. kinda annoying when i need to switch other laptop :(

    • +1

      Hi @scubasteve456
Per the specs, it will! Dual 4K 60Hz supported via the available TB4 ports. Note the cable must also be able to support the transfer speeds.
      Thank you,
      Travis

  • Item price shows as $199?

    • I commented the same thing, but then went back to the description and it says discount applies at checkout

  • I've got an M1 Macbook Air, and two docks I tried have weird issues where the monitor would flicker to black once every minute or two. May be caused by the PD cable plugged in, not sure. I've heard somewhere here on the forums that it affects a lot of docs. Does anyone know whether this one would suffer from the same problem?

    • Hey @huuuuugo,
That may be a cable issue, or a dock issue, or both. This is a premium quality dock and would support single monitor functionality for your M1 Mac with the use of a premium cable. If in case of any faults or issues, you can always reach out to us here and we will gladly assist you with the returns process or any general queries.
      Best wishes,
      Travis

  • Do I need some kind of adapter if my 2 monitors only have hdmi/displayPort/mini-displayPort ports (the monitors don't have usb-c or tb4 ports)?

  • +1

Has anyone tried this with a 5k display to know if it supports 5120 x 2880 at 60p? The specs only list dual 4K 60p and single 8k at 30p but nothing in between.

Edit: In case anyone else cares, I just heard from support that it would support 5k 60p.

  • I just received this dock and connected it to a MacBook Pro with M3 Pro chip running latest OS (Sequoia). I have two monitors connected via USB C to the dock.

It's only detecting one external monitor at a time.
Anyone try this with a similar setup?
