  For much less, you can get a dram of similar quality.
  Hibiki tastes like $100 ish whisky and with low character. Smooth for people with money to throw but know nothing about whisky. Similar for the 18 and 21 yr old hibikis. I still have a quarter bottle of 21 yr old that was given to me years ago. Expensive, but not worth the price.

    Tsk tsk - everyone has different palate's, no need to be a whisky snob.

    Have been to many whisky events around the world, and that's the one consistent take-away. I also have a huge collection to suit friend's that have a huge spectrum of taste.

    Drink in good health, to steal watch afficionado's saying.

  It's always $189 on Amazon. Coles 20% discounts is a better deal when available.

  Sadly, Amazon are the only ones with good deals these days besides the Coles 20% discounts. The only problem with Amazon is they must have 25 to 50 bottles for each item, and you have to be quick otherwise you miss out; it's bullshit but what can you do?

  My opinion is that Japanese whisky is over rated and expensive, except for a handful of them. Would spend my $190 on a Macallan 12 with change left over.

    Japanese Whiskey is good but I do agree it is overpriced. The price exploded after Japan was put on the map for whiskey by Yamazaki who consistently wins world competitions.

    It is nice, but I wished it was back in the day when a 12yo bottle would be only $100…

    Alcohol is one of those things which you will never get anybody agreeing with each other on it, as there is such a diverse set of tastes (and acquired taste).

  I started my drinking when I got together with my friends, we got the cheapest whiskey so it's kinda strange for me to spend this much on whiskey.. Now I get a decent one whenever on special but this price is still a lot more.

  The Hibiki Harmony is an overpriced young blended whisky at 43% and chill filtered. The barley comes from Scotland and distilled at multiple sites in Japan. Don't get me wrong it is easy to drink, but you are overpaying by 50% for a pretty bottle that makes a good decanter
