I would have jumped on this deal if it's box damaged instead of refurbished….

I got my WH as refurb. Looks brand new.

      • I found the refurbs tend to be refurbs for a reason, and the refurb is rarely perfect.

        • I have had two pairs of the XM3 earbuds, both were "refurb" but in reality the only thing damaged/worn was the box. Everything else was new.

I still don't understand where are there so many refurb units with Sony. Is the quality that shit people returning on warranty ?
I have owned the last 3 generations of WF and nothing ever broke.

I previously owned the XM4s and really enjoyed them. However, one day, the right earbud suddenly began draining from full battery to empty in about 15 minutes. I contacted support, and while they tried to assist, they couldn't resolve the issue. Unfortunately, my device was out of warranty, and Sony wouldn't offer any further help. Fortunately, I had purchased them from Amazon, and they accepted the return, providing me with a full refund.

Known issue that was caused by a firmware bug. Google it and you'll find more

      • My partner and I had the same issue. Out of warranty. After pursuing Sony for some time, they eventually replaced both sets. This firmware glitch affected users worldwide, a friend in the UK had the same issue. Sony never admitted this publicly.

They sell damaged box and even new stock as refurb sometimes to get around discounting products that may impact retail partners.

My XM3 refurbs are still going strong with only the occasional battery drain issue.

The factory batteries drained so quickly for me. Dead within 30mins.

Got replacement Varta batteries off AliExpress and now they're solid for hours. Would recommend, very easy to do

For everyone who are on the edge but concerned about this being refurb, I got my WH1000XM5 refurb from sony ebay which I can barely see/hear any difference from any new pair of headphones. (note: you get a generic box unlike a retail intact unit, however, no other difference can be found )

  • are the Anc on these good like the Bose?

Currently using the Sony WF-C710Ns. And theyre great. Your getting almost all the performance of these for even less, brand new.

  • XM4 sound quality and ANC > XM5

  • Great , I just purchased a pair , I always purchased factory refurbished products and have never ever had an issue , 99% of the time they are as good as brand new.

  • Do you still get warrenty on refurb units?

    • Yes , 12 months with these headphones.
