With paper specs like those Sony and Samsung has a lot of competition for less $. I like the Samsung QN90 series for the brightness, processing and reflection handling however even the latest does F version does not have WiFi 6 or BlueTooth 5.4.

    • +1

What advantage do you see from having WiFi 6 over say WiFi 5? Specifically for a TV, I mean.

      • +1

Probably only streaming big UHD remuxes, however I'd not bother using the built in apps for that anyway.

      • -1

Both streaming and app responsiveness since the latter load times are dependant on Internet speed.

At the moment running mesh wifi with ethernet cable to current TV to compensate.

  • What would be the qualitative difference with the c855?

    • +1

This is the new model. Not many reviews out for the c8k yet. But the c6k and c7k are noticeably improved over last year's models, namely around colour vibrancy, brightness and blooming.

      • +1

Yes, but for twice the price of what the 855 got down to. For this money people should consider an OLED (if they have a darker room). My LG CX looks a lot better than my 855, but only at night when you can see the screen!

        • Only talking about differences between 2025 to 2024 TCL models. Pricing and whether to buy OLED is another issue…

  • +1

Good one OP. Have been waiting for this. Now to decide whether its worth the wait until EOFY as I currently have no gift vouchers

    • +3

If you can hold out, historically you will most likely get a better price around Black Friday/Cyber Monday with a TCL. Well, that has been my case with the last 2 x high end TCL purchases.

      • +1

Second this. Got both my C835 and C855 for about $1700 around BF/Christmas.

    It's $500 cheaper at Good Guys Commercial — $2794. I bought the 55" C7K version last month, it's excellent.

Link, for those who have access:
    https://www.thegoodguyscommercial.com.au/tcl-75-inches-c8k-p…

And if you don't have access, sign up for G'Day Parks membership for a few dollars and it's one of the included perks.

    • Love this. Looks like G'day perks would be $30 to signup however

    • +2

sign up to ART for free

      • What is ART?

        • Australian Retirement Trust. You can also its Rest Super but no JB access

    • Annoyingly I signed up for G'Day parks and then when I've logged in, it's showing as $3,495

Anything I need to do to get $2,794?

      • +2

I think it takes a few days for G'Day Parks to activate the Good Guys Commercial perk.

        • Ah! Good to know, thank you :)

    • +2

If you have origin electricity good guys commercial can be accessed through their rewards

  • +6

I had nits back in primary school - but 4500 of them sounds like a serious problem!

  • Is 3800 dimming zones good? I have a hisense uled and it looks so patchy in the dark even with supposed "full array dimming".

    Contemplating oled but $5k sheesh

    • Yes that's great. This new series of TCL TVs this year have imprived heaps with colour and blooming. This would be a big upgrade over your hisense ULED. I'm in the same boat as you. When I look at the screens in the shop, yes OLED looks great, but you're getting near OLED quality with Mini LED for so much less. I've decided to go with mini LED.

      • +1

For new release money people should be looking at OLED as its still a significant step up.

        • +2

the price is a big step up also. and for a bright room, some might prefer mini LED

        • +1

It may not work in a bright living room. The white turns purple.

        • New release mini led is still significantly less than a new release OLED. If you mean comparing a new release mini led to and older OLED, yeah sure..

Not really a deal when you can get it a good guys commercial which 99% of people in ozbargain should have access too.

    • Well if someone could share how to get TGG Commercial for my next purchase that would be great. $700 off retail seems like a good deal to me though

      • if you know anyone using origin for gas or electricity you can get both gg comercial and jbhifi business through the origin rewards in the app

      • +1

again, you can sign up for ART super for free. it comes with both jb hifi friends and family portal and good guys commercial.

  • I saw that The Good Guys are offering bonus TGG gift cards with TVs at the moment, eg $400 ones for the 85" C8K/C7K - does anyone know if they will price match to other retailers and you still get the gift card? Can't see anything specific in the T&Cs..

  • I asked the TGG to match the commercial price and they did. They also chucked in a free belkin powerboard and free delivery (by reducing price of TV keeping total cost the same). Bought $999 voucher from Cashrewards with 3% cash back, and $1800 from Shopback with 2.5% cashback.

    • Did they match the TGG commercial price or JB commercial price? Did you go in-store?

      • TGG commercial price. I called them up first and then went in store to pay
