Just received an email advising my NBN plan with Tangerine will be increasing on June 16th, allegedly due to NBN Co increasing their wholesale prices. Are all ISPs passing this wholesale cost on to the customer, or should I look at switching? Currently paying $60.90/month on a 6 month promo for 100/20 FTTN speed. I believe this will go up to $68.90(?)/mo for the remainder of the promo period from June 16th.

Ironically looking to move on in June as my plan will revert back to normal , 100/20 . Could try leaptel again and see what they're offering I guess ⁉️
Yeah it's an extra 68c, 90c, $1.31, $1.60 or $1.71/m wholesale to selected speed tiers from July 1. It's up to the ISP if they increase the cost. So far I've seen a $5/m increase.
$68.90 for 100/20 is still reasonable. How long is left on your 6-month Tangerine promo?
Can you swap from FTTN to FTTP?
So the max cost increase to the ISP is under $2?
And they're increasing by at $3+ looking at the comments.
Passing on their costs might be reasonable, but gouging isn't.
Yeah, it's not much admittedly, except every business seems to want to do this, and suddenly it all adds up.
Doesn't matter to me, I've voted with my feet already and ditched broadband. At least until a reasonable deal is offered. Thanks ozbargain :)
I'm in the same situation, moved to Tangerine at the end of Feb and it seems I might have to move again.
seems I might have to move
You don't 'have to'………
The Ozbargain rule book says I 'have to'…
You must have the updated version…
You should cover his price hike then
For once and may it be rare, I am on @jv's side. You don't have to move. I honestly couldn't be bothered churning providers. Just like Power and Gas only to save a few bucks here and there or even phone plans etc, porting in and porting out.
So much effort and I know every dollar adds up, but its such a pain and could cost you more in the time/effort to do it.
It's like driving to the next town to get cheaper fuel…… the time, the effort and the distance travelled is more than what you would save buying it in town!
For $3/month I'm not going to switch, but if it was $8 like OP said, I'd be looking for a better deal. Switching ISPs is very easy though, very low effort required, and I'll be switching when the promo ends if there's a better deal somewhere else.

I understand it is very easy, a lot easier than it used to be. But I find it painful with IP changes etc. I am someone who wants a static IP and with some things I have setup, its painful to back to change things.
I had to do it 3 or 4 times for a business I worked for previously when we moved offices or changed VPN solutions, it was always a pain.
I am looking at it from a very technical perspective and thats my me, for the general user, it might not matter so much.
but its actually so easy to swtich, i mean i spend less time switching than you would typing out why you never switch.
@cloudy: Those of us self-hosting have static IPs and and need to update quite a few things when things change. It's not easy to switch when you need to spend a couple of hours with the tech support of the new ISP getting them to set up reverse DNS so that your mail server works. Then there's the inconvenience of downtime during the transition. Some of it can be mitigated, such as spinning up a secondary MX caching relay in the cloud, but some of it can not.
I’m also on this 6 month promo offer.
So I believe this would go from $60.9 to $63.9, assuming the same $25 discount off the new $88.9 monthly cost.
I lodged a ticket to Tangerine hoping they can confirm the new price for me.
Ah, that must be what it is, then. I couldn't recall exactly what the previous/current RRP was. Thanks.
Me neither so did a simple calc here. Glad it helped a bit! Haha
I just asked them online, they confirmed it will go from $60.9 to $63.9, not $68.90 as OP suggested so IMHO probably not worth switching until the end of the promo.
Oh thank you angel! $63.9 is okay for the 6 months tbh. Haha!
Also on the 6 month promo for 100/40. At $72.90 pm, I think tangerine is still the cheapest except for the More Telecom Yello Offer
Received an email from CBA, essentially Yello will be removing this More NBN/mobile offer on 4 June 2024. Below is the wording I copied from More website after inputting my Yello code:
Important: We are making changes to our More offers for CommBank Yello customers. As part of the changes, we will be removing the CommBank Yello Everyday mobile offer from 4 June 2025. This offer will only be available to CommBank customers that are part of the CommBank Yello Everyday benefit set who meet the eligibility criteria for this offer and complete sign up before 4 June 2025.
Some are, some aren't.
