Setting up Adguard Home to Allow Cashback Tracking

Hi fellow Adguard / Flint2 user,

I recently bought a Flint2 router and I'm in the process of setting up AdGuard Home.

Normally, I use the browser adblocker and switch to a private window to make sure cashback sites track properly.

My question is: will AdGuard block cashback tracking? If so, is there a whitelist I can use?

Also, on a side note—what’s your go-to blocklist?

Thanks.

    PiHole

    • Pi-hole is not a blocklist. It is the blocking application.

I have not had any issues with cashback tracking.

I use AdGuardDNS on my home router and on each mobile device.

I have a few blocklists (11, to be precise). I'm sure some are duplicates and occasionally get false-positives, but I have a totally ad-free internet experience.

    • good to know. Thanks.

    • Oh is adguard block ads on youtube and other videos sites if we accidentally press on the ad?

for a desktop PC, my suggestion is as follows. there is no need to stuff around with whitelists for your local adblocking DNS server.

    • install firefox
    • create a dedicated firefox profiles for each cashback site, so that no other extensions or sites interfere with your clicks. only use when purchasing via a cashback site

    • configure firefox to use "standard" tracking protection

    • configure firefox to always use DNS over HTTPS, so that firefox will bypass any local (adblocking) DNS servers

I have a similar setup to c64. I daily Firefox, but I use Edge for my cashback. I set the DNS to custom and set it to 1.1.1.1 so it bypasses my DNS filtering.

At a network level, I use and recommend Hagezi's Pro and TIF lists.

    • This is what I am looking for. Thanks.
