    No more 12-month cooling-off period T.T

    • Noooo Ive noticed they are starting to go 18-24 months on alot of cards

  • +1

It seems you can have the Westpac.

    • +1

Yes, I had both Westpac and StGeorge Qantas black cards last year.

  • +6

24 mth exclusion period is brutal. Sparse pickings this year

    • +1

In the meantime, you can get other bank's cards. You have many more option till you come back to St George.
You can try reward cards from NAB, ANZ, and Westpac, both Qantas and Rewards cards

      • +3

All exhausted. I've got a whole spreadsheet to track them. Sad

        • +1

          Good job bro :))

What is your credit score now ?

          How often you open/close one?

          • +2

@mkowarkski: Yeah I went abit bazooka in 2024 gaining 450k qff pts in a single year and now I'm excluded from most until late 2025 or 2026

Credit score is very good but that's some American nonsense that shouldn't be a thing here.

I try to open and close as frequently as possible to get the bonus and reset the timer. I track by banks and type (low rate, rewards, FF rewards) and exclusion period after that. I'm basically excluded from everything now except Citibank premier Qantas (60k qff 1st yr, $350fee, $6k spend) which is really meh but best of the worst.

Oh well, just how it is.

            • @lawyerz: You are a pro here :D

I also have been trying to follow the same route. NAB Rewards/QFF; ANZ Rewards/QFF; Westpac…. CBA offer is crap at the moment.
My current option is only small banks like St George or BOQ

Is it OK to have more than two credit enquire in 6 months? I get that notification in my clearscore profile.

            • @lawyerz: In same boat here. Managed to accumulate 450k qff points in the last 12 months, now waiting on Westpac 75k points. Next up will be this St George then Qantas Premier or Citi ones, which as you said best of the worst.

              • @gkh84: Nice. You still have a bit more to go then.

For Qantas premier 50k/$349 fee/$5k spend 90 days ouch : Plus an additional 40,000 bonus points if you haven't earned Qantas Points with a credit card in the last 12 months.

Maybe time this strategically since most exclusions are 24 mths now, to apply this 12 mths after your last qff card and get that extra bonus. No idea if this offer will still be around then though.

              • @gkh84: New to the game. How to spend $4000 in 3 months without wasting money on unnecessary stuff?

            • @lawyerz: Find a partner and start milking their cards too.

  • Sucks for me, I signed up a couple weeks before this promo.

At the time it was only 50k points for 3k spend within 90s days, though there was a promo for 20k points if new rewards credit card customer which kinda makes up for it.

been looking for a sub $200 >70k churn for QF, thanks OP

  • where does it is say first year free for new customers?

    • You're reading it wrong. Fee, not free.

      • LOL jumped the gun there… Thanks.

  • Ah so if you’re currently on a St George rewards card geared to velocity you’re also not eligible it seems?

  • +4

So if I open a normal account with them before applying for CC, does it make it existing customer?

  • +1

What's St George usually like with pro-rata refunds?

  • +3

The value for money is less and less on these :(

Increased AF's and offensive airliner taxes with point redemptions its increasingly becoming a false market.

    • +1

Agreed, barely worth the time and bother applying for the card and later searching for the sparse offerings for rewards flights. Once you factor in the AF, airline tax and your own time it doesn’t even seem that beneficial to just purchasing a more flexible flight time outright whenever your want with $$$.

  • Is it possible to top up balance on a trading platform eg Stake for an ‘eligible purchase’ or do these count as cash equivalent?

  • +3

Best is to open one of these accounts, then open this Qantas crad to take advantage of the lower fee for current customers:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/900347

    • its so stupid, i'm trying to apply for this account, i need to register for internet banking etc but the first page its asking for "Card or account number"

ummmms how can i have that if i'm registering as a new customer wtf lol

      • +1

Where it asks: Are you already a St.George customer?

        You need to select: No!

        • yes it was my bad, i skimmed through that Q and it was automatically set to "yes" lol

  • I’m
    Banned by them

    • Why??

      • +1

        24 month exclusion

        • aha! just normal T&Cs exclusion

  • +1

This garbage bank takes weeks to get back to you

    • +1

Got approved in 2 business days…

  • +1

its 15k Qantas FF lower (Amplify Qantas Signature: 90k Qantas Points with $6k Spend in 120 Days, $370 1st Year Fees ($225 Existing Customers) @ St.George) but this deal is better as you get 75k for only $49 existing customer+ $75 QF program so $124

isnt' this deal better? its like paying another 70 for just the extra 15k qantas point right?

    AI gives me
"If your goal is to maximize value per dollar spent, Offer 2 ($124 for 75k points) is the superior choice. If you need more points for a specific redemption, Offer 1 may be preferable, but it is less cost-efficient per point."

    • Don't forget the extra $2000 spend.

    • I prefer the Platinum rather than Signature… it may take some time to spend the addition $2K for just 15K points. Also fee is higher!

      • Hack: buy something expensive from aldi and return it and refund it back into your debit card lol. Might lose out on the surcharge but that’s a quick way to trying to use the credit card if required. I tried it just once though 😆

        • Yes, I have tried it with JB HiFi
But we need to keep the item till we receive the bonus points. That may take more than a month

    • Thanks for the summary. Was deciding which way to go between signature or platinum

  • I failed the online verification somehow so need to attend Westpac in person…. What a shame. What a hassle. Not sure if can be bothered… As I suspect it won't be easily done on a lunchbreak…

Getting this on both mobile app and web browswer "We’re sorry, something has gone wrong. Please refresh this page to try again."

  • Would I be eligible if I held St George velocoty card in the last 12m?
