  • Thanks OP. Anyone know if this thing is quite… my current one sound like a jetplane 🙂

    • +1

Can't vouch for the kettle itself but know someone with this kettle and observed its quieter compared to most.

Use price beat button to get it to $54

      • +1

We have that kettle and can confirm that it's a bit quieter than most kettles

    • +1

      It's very loud.

    • +1

You need to clean it. Boil a tablespoon or two of citric acid in it, leave it for a few hours, then turf and rinse.

      It will be way quieter.

Anyone know if this thing is quite…

      Quite what?

      • +1

Hahaha! Just noticed it 😄… Can't change it now though.

      • +1

        Quite quiet?

    • Did you know. If you look inside the kettle and you can see the element, it's a quiet kettle. If you cant see the element, it's a loud kettle.

      • That's true, exposed elements allow the water to mix as the hot water rises through them.

Concealed elements create cavitation as boiling water bubbles rise up into old water and collapse creating noise.

    • Most kettles with double walls are quieter than those with single walls.

      • What about triple walls?

        • +1

          Take a guess.

    • Is it quite the kettle? The double walled feature looks good tbh.

  • i need a fully steel one on the internal.. this one?

    • +1

      Yep

Double wall with seamless interior stainless steel

      • bought!!!!

        • is the lid plastic?

          • +1

@ilove: The top of the lid is plastic, however, it is steel underneath.

Same price at HN and Amazon

    • links?

    • link for amazon? it’s showing 44

    • HN and Amazon selling at $44

  • lots of bad reviews…..

    • +4

If you read carefully, you would find that those were referring to the 7000 model.

      • +4

So in the 7000 model post someone complained about the lid on the 5000 model and got downvoted as it ‘wasn’t this model’, yet here we say that the 7000 model has bad reviews and it’s not the 5000 model.

As they have pretty much the same design, I’m guessing the lid opening mechanism has flaws.

        • I bought this kettle in the last sale. Good kettle, lid mechanism is cooked though.

          • @notoriousmob: From my experience with similar lids, is it only when you try to boil it when the kettle is already hot (recently boiled) or is it every time?

          • +1

@notoriousmob: Same issues with the Breville kettles.

Good kettle after 7 years of use.
The lid mechanism was cooked 3 years ago.

I just fill the water using the water dispensing mouth.

There is probably a hack to fix the lid somehow.

      • nice to know.

      • 7000 series have offers 6 temperature settings from 40C to 100C
Temperature control mechanism is likely to fail quickly

  • +2

I have this kettle, I really like it, however it is VERY loud.

  • How are these actually worth paying extra for than a regular kettle?

    • +2

How much do you value reheating burnt plastic on your health?

      • But the plastic doesn't burn

  • Time to use the $20 off $50 Myer coupon.

    • Which one?

      • Targeted

        • Poop

    • How did you get the coupon?

  • Can anyone comment on the double wall - does it make a difference?

    • yes, you don't burn yourself. i say must have if you have little children.

      • Our kettle is out of reach…I thought the other advantage might be that it stays warmer longer in winter?

        • It isnt a solid seal, so it will hold it slightly warmer vs a traditional kettle, but its not going to keep it warm per se. Get a vacuum flask if you want to keep water hot after boiling.

  • The so-called Quiet kettles are OK for a while but it's not long before they join the ones that would wake the dead….basically they put a baffle in the base…..and yes I've had the Russell Hobbs one.

  • +2

Was looking for stainless kettle about 3 months back and ended up buying the 7000 (was a deal on it at the time) , was almost put off by all the negative reviews re the lid.
Having used it daily for about 3 months now, the lid is a non issue. The kettle boils fast and relatively quiet. Great option if you don’t want plastic in your boiling water,

  • -2

This kettle is plastic abd has some bs stainless steel liner. Both kettle are like this. Need to find a plastic free kettle.

    • +3

Any links or options for completely plastic free electric kettle? From what I’ve seen, this is as close as it gets?

      • +5

your best bet would be a stove top kettle or boil in a pot if you want all metal. then you lose the convenience of a plug in kettle.

        • Yes those heavy cast ikon one, kettle on stove.

      • Bugatti Vera - inside and outside are both stainless steel, but you will find some ABS in the construction of the handle.

      • Ok cool. Will check that out

    • -1

Need to find a plastic free kettle.

So you want to be electrocuted each time you use the kettle?

      • -1

Can be done, glass and metal and natural rubber.
        Should build one lol

  • Any thoughts on glass kettles or instant hot water dispensers ?

Russell Hobbs Brooklyn 1.7L Glass Kettle - Black Stainless Steel (RHK172BCH)

    or

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Breville-HotCup-Water-Dispenser-Li…

    • Have had a couple of glass Kettles and in general they have been good. Just needed to throw some lemon slices in and boil them every now and then to keep them clear. Biggest drawback is weight - they tend to be significantly heavier than steel or plastic Kettles that may be an issue for some. Flipside is that extra weight/mass can also make them quieter.

Sounds like you need to have the perfect sized cups to use it

250ml of water is dispensed per use, no more or less

  • +1

With delivery $6 (limited stock in my area) this is more expensive than prime $44 delivered. So bought of Amazon instead.

  • +1

The lid is poorly designed. It is a bit of hit and miss when attempting to open the lid. You have to gently press the lid open button

    • +1

I bought this for $42 in the last deal a few months ago. I modified the hole which the locking mechanism slides in by yanking it forward by 1.5mm with a flat head screw driver, so it just slightly snags the tip of the locking mechanism. This makes the lid open flawlessly every time.

  • It doesn't even have a window to see how much water is in it… Pretty crap design.

Could never go back to a kettle like this after years of running a glass kettle with digital temp display and wifi for voice/routine control.

    • Did you pick that up for 39 bucks?

  • Prefer a fully steel one compared to inner
