Sanyo VPC-E1600 Camera 14MP 5x Opt zoom $40 - Officeworks Nunawading (VIC), price match possible

51

UPDATE - now expired. As reported below by sassypants, the price has now increased to $60 at Nunawading. I hope others were lucky enough to bet the deal before they changed it

Bought this one yesterday on clearance for $40 at Nunawading Officeworks. Scans at $80, but $40 clearance price is clearly marked at the shelf.

'Clearance' price online and at other Officeworks stores is $80 as per this link:

Decided to buy another one today and went to a closer officeworks which matched the Nunawading price after calling them to confirm. Price match should be available while Nunawading has stock and keeps their lower clearance price.

(EDIT - both receipts are here: http://upload.ozbargain.com/2013/01/11/10395_scan0001.jpg)

Couldn't find many reviews for it but seems a nice little camera with 3 inch touchscreen, 5 times optical zoom, f/2.8 at the wide end, image stabilisation, ISO up to 6400 & 720p HD video.

I also noticed the Samsung PL20 in store for $59 on clearance …

The Samsung is sold out online but your local store may have stock too.

  • damn… 10 minutes too late… local OW work just closed for the night…

can you post a clearer copy of the receipt with the date on it ???

  • Can people post where abouts they get the price match?

Thinking about getting one from adelaide…is that likely to be possible?

    • says it's in stock at marion, and limited stock at gilles plains. Worth a phone call in the morning.

  • Office works seems to be the only store that sells this model. Will my local office works price match the other store, or will they just ring the other store that is selling for $40 perhaps, thus preventing others from getting a potential bargain there ….

  • Just sourced a couple from a local store, 1st store said "we don't price match ourselves" .
2nd store, had in stock (now none) said "must have been a price error, no thats wrong, which store etc. I wont say what I'll do but I'll ring then call you back" . He didn't believe me about price and was quite rude . He rang back, red faced "we will beat it by 5%" . Still complained to him about his earlier rudeness. Even though we are bargain hunters, no need for stores to be rude and act like your doing something wrong, he was acting like I was lying or trying to steal from him . I will take complaint to head office . He changed his tone, the 3rd time I called to say that my sister will pick them up. I think he felt bad when I told him off on 2nd call lol .

name and shame the OW store with rude staff

Went in earlier to the Nunawading store and they have since changed the ticket price to $60 and refused to match the earlier $40 price, saying that it was a ticket error that they have since rectified. The sales assistant told me they'd been getting calls all day from both customers and stores asking about it.

Tried my luck at another store but they wouldn't match it either. So, grats to those who managed to score this bargain before they changed it. I'm guessing the manager must've realised it was too low after being inundated with calls.

  • Thanks Nifty - your post allowed a pricematch so I got the display model for $40. The salesman was quite shocked at the price, but he called to confirm and they had 8 left. I had a feeling you needed to move fast on this one! I'm sure a lot more deals were done than + votes received.
