Help Me Find a Budget Mobile Phone to Replace Galaxy S7

My Galaxy S7 took it’s final swim in the kitchen sink yesterday. I need help deciding on a suitable replacement, please.
My S7 was good enough for me. I didn’t miss the apps that no longer worked. So basically any specs better than the S7 will be a bonus. Security updates especially, lol.
I’m leaning toward another Samsung, to hopefully make recovering data from the S7 easier via MySamaung account. Or the cloud. I’m not sure.

Under $500 would be good. I’ll consider paying more if there’s a suitable phone that’s worth the extra.

I need - external memory card slot, NFC, Bluetooth to connect to jbl 3 speaker, I am prone to dropping my phone so higher IP is good (so is an otterbox, apparently.)

I’m considering -

A16 - under $200. It’s 4G, no 3.5mm audio jack

A26 - $488 (TGG) No 3.5mm jack

A35 - $435 (TGG) in store only, the nearest is Melton which is a bit of a hike from Banyule.

A55 - I can’t pay full price knowing the recent deals on this!

Will I regret the 4G only? I’m on Boost prepaid, had no service problems with the S7 until now. I very rarely use headphones, could do without. I like the $200 price.

GSM Arena has been really helpful. Along with other OzB posts.
I’m using an iPad Air stuck on iOS 12.5 and there are a bunch of websites that no longer work. Please let me know if there are better prices or other potentially suitable phones.

TIA :)

Get the Motorola G75 5G 8GB RAM/256GB very good specs at good price:

You can sign in to my Samsung from web and/or download samsung apps from playstore for recovering your data although highly likely your data would be stored in google account instead of MySamsung which is on any android device.

I hadn’t considered other makes. Looking in to this one.

Thanks for the tip on recovering data.

  • For around $200, how long do you plan to keep this new phone?

I think the Moto G75/85 are great value for money. They may not receive as frequent or long updates as Samsung phones, but at this price, you can afford to upgrade every 2-3 years.

The Moto G54 I have had pretty minimal skin, so you will get a pretty close to stock Android experience.

Transferring from one Android device to another is not too hard. The built-in setup app will migrate your saved passwords (if you use Chrome or the built-in password manager), apps (but not necessarily data). You can use Nearby Share to transfer your documents, photos, and other personal files. I'm sure there are comprehensive guides out there to walk you through the processes.

    • Okay, looking in to the Motos, thanks. Appreciate the tips on transferring data, too :)

    • Ah, I was looking for this yesterday! Thank you, appreciate the suggestions.

    • JB, Officeworks, or The Good Guys?

Samsung shop doesn’t work on my iPad :/

It's on the app store. Can you order with another device?

        • Thanks, can’t get the app on this ipad. I’ll fire up the old laptop to see if it works.
Do any of those three store price beat? I think they price match, at least?

          • @JayParker: The deal uses a coupon code so they will not match or beat.

It works using the website on a browser. The app is not needed.

@shxhshzhz: Ah, thank you so much. I’ve got it working on the old lappy!

The Samsung S10e is the closest in size and quality to the S7, if you're willing to buy 2nd hand.
It is old, though, so you won't get updates officially, but can through 3rd party ROMs.
